[RBW] FS: Tubus Front Pannier Rack

2023-11-09 Thread Ryan Ogilvie
Hi all,

Selling my Tubus tubular steel front pannier rack. I bought this in 2010
for a tour across the Canadian Rockies. I've used it a bit for commuting
and light bike packing since. It's has some decent scratches (only a few go
to base metal), but remains a solid point of attachment for front panniers.

I don't really have much use for it, but would likely keep if it better fit
my Susie. Fitting it to the Suz would need some mount extensions and seems
like a lot of work for something I don't really need any longer.

Would sell for $30, shipping included.

I don't see this guy on Tubus' website any longer, so if you want a pure
(no shelf) pannier rack, let me know.

Re: [RBW] Rapid Rise Resurrection

2023-10-30 Thread Ryan Ogilvie
Happy to report that this guy works quite well on a 11spd. For the time
being,

I swapped out the jockey wheels from my 105 derailleur and on the stand it
works great. We'll see once I put wheels to dirt/pavement.

This guy (an RD-M951) came with one jockey wheel (the guide (top) wheel)
which was secured by a male hex m5 machine screw. The fasteners from my 105
were too short for that wheel, fine for the tension wheel (as was the
bottom tension wheel screw). Not sure what's going on--if guide wheel is
wider on this model--but currently working fine.

I have replacement jockey wheels on their way, but still curious if the
jockey wheel machine screw is different for the top (guide) wheel.

Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks, Thomas, Michael! This largely confirms what I was thinking, namely, that these parts aren’t too esoteric and might run into range issues. My thumb shifters work with my 105 so curious what they do with the RR. [RBW] Rapid Rise Resurrection

2023-10-24 Thread Ryan Ogilvie
I picked up a Rapid Rise derailleur medium cage (RD-M951) at the Nutmeg tag
sale. It's missing the lower jockey wheel and the wheel that it had was
secured by a (hex head) parts can replacement.

I'm wondering how people would approach getting this guy back in
action--that is, getting a replacement wheel (or wheels) and replacement
screws.

A twist to this story is that I'd like to see if it would work on my 11sp
cassette. Curious, too, if people have tried.

I have a Clipper 42/26 crankset connected to a 11/34 cassette.

Anyone have know if cages on these are interchangeable with other Shimano
derailleurs? I'm wondering if it would make sense to buy a donor derailleur
for a screws and cogs--perhaps even get a long cage in case I need it.

I'd like to put this guy on my Susie. Not opposed to betting a 8 or 9 speed
cassette, but my 11 speed works well and my pocket book would prefer to
conserve the parts I've already own.
That said, my main motivation is to resurrect this Rapid Rise. Open to all
ya'lls thoughts.

Best,
Ryan

[RBW] ISO Dynamo Lights

2023-09-09 Thread Ryan Ogilvie
Hi all, Anyone interested in selling a front and/or rear dynamo light?
Looking to add some lighting to my recently built Suz.

I don't mind if the wiring is a bit of mess. I can clean that up. Just
looking for working lamps.

Thanks!
Ryan

[RBW] Re: Tire Recommendations

Check our Maxis Refuse. Pretty heavy duty. I've run them in NYC commuting
and, if I've had a flat, it's only been once over what's got to be a
1000mi.

I have the brown side wall but they make em all black.
