Re: [RBW] Re: Did you have a 2018 cycling goal? Did you achieve it?
I hit all my goals and then moved the post further away... Full SF Randonneurs Super Rando series. 10,+ miles for the year. R-12 achievement unlocked. [12 consecutive months of 200km or more RUSA event ] Super 600k [RUSA 600KM with 10,000 m/34,000 ft elev.] My end of year RUSA mileage was 8 200k's, 3 populaires, 1 360k flèche, 2 300k's, 2 400k's, and 2 600k's. Plenty of those were mixed terrain rides. Plus a hand full of century or 200k's I did by myself. Plus lots of PR's hit and improved too. For 2019 I will do the Super Randonneur series again with SFR and do PBP in under 80hrs. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Toyo serial number decoding
My orange Rambo is #RB0068 Purchased the frame and fork via eBay. It's my main rando rig, paint is pretty beat up, still a beaut. I'm finally changing out the old crunchy HS for a brand new campy record, switching from shimano 10spd brifters to old shimano 600 drillium non aeros, and putting the grand compe bar ends. I wanted to wait for the silver2 bar ends but I'll put those on my Pelican, where my current silver shifter sometimes hit my knees ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Nate Oakland, ca -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Anyone ridden both 26"/700c Atlantis'?
I used those cheap tektro oryx ones, they have a large enough slot to move the pad high enough for 584/650b wheels. it was an experiment so I wanted it to be cheap. and i sold it shortly after I received my boulder bicycles 650b. Oh yea, I remember exactly how that bike rides. I rode it quite a bit and it was one of my more serious purchases back then, I got it around 2013, it was very influential and still is on every bike build I still ride today -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Anyone ridden both 26"/700c Atlantis'?
I've ridden that 56cm toyo Atlantis and converted in to 650b for a 300km brevet, it definitely felt faster with 650b, could just have been the faster compass tires though. I remember when I sold the 56 Atlantis I always thought that specific geo was too big for me back then, now I ride a "60cm" Rambouillet, a 60cm BDB Pelican, 59cm Black mountain cycles Road, and a Large Surly KM and couldn't be happier. I have an 86ish PBH IIRC you now have the same Atlantis I sold to a list member in Portland ? The one from Harris Cyclery with the Bunyan velo sticker? If it goes up on the market I'm semi interested in buying it back. I'm looking for a strong frame to basket up and romp around Oakland and SF for work n other stuff. Lemmy know if that interests you! I'm not in a rush but I did love that bike and spent some pretty memorable tours on it. Nate -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Dynamo Lights - Sinewave, IQX, Schmidt?
I have both a B&M IQ-x and B&M Luxos U on my two main rando bikes. I like the Luxos for very long road rides to charge Garmin or phones/devices while riding during the day and let the lamp work alone at night. It can definitely charge and run the light at the same time tho. Another great feature of the Luxos is the switch mounted on the handlebar, you can turn light on/off or change the mode of the lamp without having to reach down near the spokes and also if you need to change different charging wires it can be done from the handlebars area where the usb dock is. One or two downsides are that it's a big light, so when I mount it on one side of a rack I can tell there's extra weight tracking that way, so like most dyno headlights were designed I mounted over the front wheel on the front of my rack, this puts it in a vulnerable position and I actually fell on some trail once and broke the outer casing of the light, luckily I wasn't riding at night. This isn't really a problem tho if you mount it to the center hole on the fork crown if youre rackless. On the IQ-x is my bike I use for longer mixed terrain events, which flickers more at low speeds but doesn't bother me because I can still see where I'm going. With both of these lights I pair it with a high quality Coast brand head torch mounted to my helmet, this is good for reading cue sheets or street signs in the dark. Also good for tight single track etc. But just be cautious you don't blind anybody around you, I usually ride alone so.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I haven't used the other 2 lights you mentioned -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: Front rack ID on this Atlantis?
I rode the hi rider rack on my 56cm Toyo built Atlantis for like 2yrs, good rack, handled any size load i needed it to. Bike handled as good as a mid trail bike with heavy front load could handle. I still have it, its under my bed. I rode it on two short tours, one from Sf to big sur and back, and once from sf to la. It was fitted with swift mini roll top panniers, and a basket zip tied to the platform, that's all I used, it worked great, that rack is really strong. I actually used it quite a bit when I got a delivery job too. It's pretty versatile when it comes to mounting on different bikes from what I remember. [RBW] MUSA shorts question
I have a pair of small and im a 30 as well. Mine are from the riv garage sale so I'm really not sure if they're the same generation, but, I'd have to say the waist on the small is kinda tight, I usually don't clasp the buckle and it hurts my tummy if it rides up too high because the elastic is pretty tight. Also depending on what you use for underwear, how tall you are(I'm between 5'9-10, with 86pbh and long neck), or how short you like your shorts might be an issue, I feel like my balls are going to be visible sometimes haha, they're short And wide! But the air feels nice so it's a trade-off and it's possible they will fit you differently than on me. It's worth mentioning this was my second pair. I had my first pair altered to be tighter around the thigh which then happened to rip the gussetted crotch part , so be careful with that. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] WTB Nitto (Pearl) 9cm

[RBW] Rainy day test ride.
Nice! I believe I was the first to do a rainy day test ride on that there Appaloosa. I took it out last week while it was pouring and got it a bit muddy on that little multi use trail back behind Riv, I figured as well it was All arounder fashion to not care about getting the bikes muddy and wet, that's real world riding ain't it?! I think it is accurately billed as between a Hunq and Sam, even tho I've never ridden a Sam I can just tell . The standover was huge on that bike tho wasn't it?! I think it would be a better trail bike than than road too but the huge standover has me thinking otherwise. Again it does seem like a great touring bike but poses a prob with me and I'm about 85-86ish pbh. So I dunno. It even had a higher standover than my 56 Atlantis with largest tires and I think I was closer to the lower end of sizing on the Atlantis. I'm not complaining about it but I just think it's not the bike for me. Luckily I found a 1st gen (I believe) Bombadil on the list with a nice low standover for shredding or touring and long TT so that should work out nicely.
