Ok, just received a pair in the mail. like these:

Can anybody explain how the quick release works on these guys? I'm totally
baffled.

The URL leads to a blog with pictures of a blue bike with no brakes, so
I don't understand your point. However, as a general rule, interrrupter
levers do not have quick releases. The quick releases are on the brakes
themselves. In-line levers are just that: in-line.

Hmm,
When I try the link I get a picture of the lever with an arrow pointing to
a red knob that says clearly, "q-r knob". These were sold by RBW a while
back, but no longer. RBW's description of them said they came with a quick
release. It IS in fact some sort or quick release mechanism or marked as
such, and they ARE inline levers.
 Perhaps this link works better:

Hi Clyde,
I think you turn the dial (red knob) to introduce slack in the housing.
Make sure you set up the brakes to permit slackening (?) for QR.

(This is the Tektro RL740 interrupter for v-brakes.)

Now those look like brake levers! They're also the only in-line levers
I've ever seen that have a QR mechanism. Paul levers and earlier Tektro
models, whether sold as Tektro or Nashbar (I've owned all of these) have
no such mechanisms. I don't understand why they would be needed.

Yep, makes perfect sense now. There are little bumps that would result in
what looks like a very small amount "more" room for the housing to be.
They work off of the housing, not the cable...DUH!. Thanks Shoji!
Still though it looks like a very small amount. Perhaps enough to pull a
stubborn noodle from its cradle.

No, I have the same interrupters on the Fargo and the red knobs don't take
up housing slack; that's the job of the (more standard) black knobs where
the housing meets the brake body.

So, once again, all together now: what *are* those red knobs for? I've been
weeping in anguish over this question for a year or more now.

Patrick "please help us!!" Moore, who is finding the Fargo a wonderful dirt

It looks like "QR" knob thingy works in conjunction with the reach
adjustment screw. The farther in that screw is the more slack you get in
the housing by turning the red knob. The knob is awkward to turn and I'd
guess is probably more trouble than it's worth for such a small amount of
travel. I might just dremel the dam thing off on my set.

Harris has the Cane Creek equivalent. Not too pricey - certainly not Paulesque.

Subject: [RBW] ISO Tektro or cheaper Linear "long" pull Interrupter Levers

I need a set of these. Riv used to sell the Tektros. Searches only turn up
Paul levers which are supposedly either/ or. I'm sure they are great levers
but the price is too steep for me. Anyone know of a source for the Tektros?
Did they quit making them? Anyone have a pair they aren't using?
Best,
Clyde Canter
