I have a Zephyr triple, and I can't remember for sure, but think that might be the BB length. My middle ring is 36T, so clearance isn't a problem. I tried plain rings and couldn't get it to shift at all, so went back to TA ramped/pinned rings and it's perfect. FWIW I bought from wiggle.co.uk which seem to have the best supply & prices on TA rings. I've run inners as close as 2 mm to the stay with no problems -- IIRC, Sheldon permits as little -- but would not want personally to go closer. IIRC, too, someone on the Boblist was selling a 125 mm Phil with rings for $85 shipped. I put a spare 113 Phil on the trike when I swapped out the SunTour triple for a TA Cyclotourist and found that, even shoved at least 3 mm to the right, it would not accomodate an inner 26, so I am running just a single 44, which is fine except for a couple of short area hills. No daylight between ring and chainstay eventually means a nice gouge in your frame. Good morning- After doing some reading on PJW's site (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/) it appears that TA switched from ISO to JIS tapers after my cranks were made. So how much of an issue is it to use ISO taper cranks on a JIS taper spindle? Could someone educate me on this or point me to some further reading?
