Re: [TANKS] Digest for rctankcombat@googlegroups.com - 1 update in 1 topic

2023-10-12 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Congrats on everything Caleb. We’ve not had battles in a long, long time. My
tank is currently gathering cobwebs , taken apart for some upgrades, but with
no battles insight , now languishes in my basement. Would love to have a
reason to bring the mighty PZII out of mothballs. Maybe a spring battle? Bob
Amend created a Facebook page, he’s in PA and had been trying to find battle
sites.

SCC -> PAGin™
| Caleb Smith <3219ca...@gmail.com>: Oct 11 08:40PM -0400

It's been a rough couple years for the SCC. Suffering humiliating personnel
shortages after the debacle known as the Zombie War and lack of defense
contracts during Trump's era of world peace left the SCC tired,
short-staffed, and broke. Falling back on their trusted chicken business
till things improved, the Smith Clan was able to hang on and eventually
rebrand their company into the now formidable PAGin™. (Pennsylvania
Agricultural Guard inc.) Using grants supposed to fund the fight against
the spotted lantern fly, PAGin™ has been able to build a new compound in
the hills of Pennsylvania while expanding its tank divisions with excellent
armor acquired from the Afghanistan black market. Business is booming.
During all this, PAGin™ has not forgotten the atrocities committed against
them at the hands of Tri-Pact and their cohorts. Retaliation has been the
ever present motivation.
There are reports of PAGin™ possibly building a dirty bomb disguised as a
shipment of bug spray, intended for delivery to Tri-Pact headquarters
during their annual budget banquet. The accuracy of these reports is hard
to verify as the only information available is from migrant illegal
immigrants doing short term ag work for the clan on their way to NYC.
Will Tri-Pact act on these reports? Will there be conflict between these
warring factions yet again? Only time will tell but in the meantime PAGin™
will be sharpening their swords, ready for the day.

What's up everyone? It's been a while and it's been so quiet here. Anyone
out there still wanting to battle RC Tanks?
These last two years have been busy ones for me but I'm happy to say I came
out on the other side with a beautiful wife and a lovely piece of property
in the hills of PA. I've got enough room here that we could have battles
here if people want to. I'd love to host. If anyone is out there and wants
to battle let me know and we'll see about keeping this hobby alive!

Help needed
| ROBERT AMEND : Jan 31 05:00PM -0500

Hello all,
I’m in the process of reaching out to several sources in a attempt to find a
battle site here in or around York County, Pa.
I am contacting the Pennsylvania Game Commission about the possibility of using
State Game Lands as a battle site as well as the Republic Landfill between
Yorkana and Freysville, Pa. Years ago the landfill and the Yorkana Fire
Department allowed us to use the pond for RC Warship Combat. They have grass
fields surrounding the landfill that would be perfect.
I’m looking for some good tank pictures that I can put together for a
presentation.
Not sure if there is still any interest in getting this going again or not?
Thanks all,
Bob

[TANKS] Rookies on Parade

2016-08-16 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
As already mentioned by others, what a great weekend. Lots of hiccups with our
assets, but nothing that the group could not overcome. So, here are some
snippets from my battle cam of the rookie vehicles in action on the field.
Being home these past 2 days, seems the heat was masking a nice fever, provided
much needed rest and the chance to get this video out promptly.
Mon frere Jean, did try to execute the advanced training video posted early
last week. Sadly, his asset was in a small ravine at the time. LOL..
Enjoy watching them in action and there are some nice video captures at the
end. In one, the fuzziest, the recoil of the gun shakes the cam while you see
the ball streak from the barrel. In some others, you'll see the balls suspended
in flight. They were not afraid to mix it up with the veterans, kudos to all.

[TANKS] Rookie primer

2016-08-08 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Since we have quite a few new rookies this event, I felt I should share some
footage of some veteran advanced battle techniques.

To set the stage. Game was Capture the Flag. There was an impassable river
between the bases with only 1 river crossing guarded by artillery and hand held
rocket launcher. You had to gain control of them first before you could
venture into the OPFOR area.

We had achieved that goal and had advanced into OPFOR territory. I was engaged
quickly. The OPFOR vehicle already had 2 prior hits, in yellow, on it's side.

His attack is shown in real time, and then in slow motion. All rookies should
practice teasing the opposition by presenting the vulnerable flank and quickly
removing said target as your opponents then wastes shots.

I guess everyone is using the time to perfect their weapon platforms. So, tell
me what you've been doing please. I'm still trying to attend, confidence is
high.
Thank you for your time,

So, for those who were not there Sunday, can you tell us why the cell caught
fire. The were properly charged, installed, and then the SU100 was driven,
carrying equipment over 100 feet to the battle prep area.. It was resting when
the POP was heard..

Although we are loathe to admit that Frank "Fearless Leader" Pittelli is

spy shown in prior photos is *not* the General. DNA samples swabbed
from the 2015 model Bass-O-Matic clearly identified the individual as

(ASS) were able to provide the attached photo of Boris, Natasha and
"Fearless Leader" practicing with an IED similar to the one planted by
"Crazy Ivan". Unfortunately the ASS crack team was not able to
photograph the shadowy John "Mr.Big" Pittelli before he left for casinos
in Atlantic City. Forensic inspection of the IED planted on the old gas

Tri-Pact training camp for Local 12 of the Villains, Thieves, and Scoundrels

We need your help. All RC tank patriots are requested to muster north

[TANKS] June Battle-AKA Day of the Failed Markers

2015-06-23 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
limited video for this battle, forgot to turn off camera while waiting for
OPFOR to get ready..
The day began quietly enough. Tanks being unloaded from their carriers,
commanders preparing their palaver for the days events, you know, the normal
stuff.
But some of us forgot one ritual.. Burnt offering to the overseer of markers.
Joe had fired up his stogy, guess we should have been downwind.
Two markers gremlins appeared pre-battle. Paul's Patton was misbehaving, not
sure what was wrong as I came in at the end. He had dismantled the marker and
upon reassembly realized that 2 springs were missing. Luckily a strong magnet
was at hand to retrieve both springs from the forest floor.
Meanwhile, Frank's Semovente kept misfiring. No amount of gun oil or changing
of o-rings worked. And the gun had been torn down in the off season and bench
tested perfectly.. Our first casulaty of the day.
Doug's Tiger decided to imitate his Axis compatriot during the first batlle,
Zombie War II. Never did find out what the gun malfunction was, but we had
another asset down.
During the final battle, which involved controlling a river crossing
,controlling the artillery and having to capture the OPFOR flag, my Panzer II
marker joined the rest. It started just after Joe"the Jersey Kneecapper" took
out my left leg at 5 feet. While awaiting the medics, who never arrived, I
heard some gas leaking in the turret. As I drove back to base, cold CO2 came
rushing out of the barrel. My shooting part of the battle was ended. At that
point I could only hope to rush the flag if we controlled the river crossing..
Vieo and pics to follow.

[TANKS] Final Battle

2014-11-11 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Brief rules recap: You can only score one hit on a vehicle, so it takes 4 hits
from different assets to kill you. It's every man for themselves.

First few minutes of video:

Lesson 1. Hard to break old habits.. Right DougLOL.

Lesson 2. Once that asset hits you, they might as well be your new best friend
. Right Doug. Since Doug was already dead on me I ran over to his side of the
field.

Next section of video:

Score two hits on two separate assets as they are hunting others. Since it was
hard to see on the video, I blew it up. You can actually watch in slow motion
as the first shot arcs onto Bad Kitty's rear flank and then the next shot
explodes on Will SU100.

Next snippet, long range, very hard to see Paul and his PzII between the trees.
But I score a wheel hit as he runs from right to left. Since I could not
score any more Paul then comes to attack me. You can see the white on the
idler as he crosses in front of me.

Somewhere along the next minute the camera loosened up and was facing downward.
Stayed that way for the rest of the game. Then comes a better view of Paul's
PZII. (Actually looks like he should already be dead, my white, 2 massive
orange and what looks like yellow above the orange.)

Lesson 3 then follows. As with all new scenarios, sometimes certain situations
are not addressed in the initial briefing. When I reentered play following my
first reincarnation( yes I died many times) I asked. Is everyone allowed to
shoot at me now and am I able to target everyone? The answer was yes. Sadly
Joe was not in earshot during that conversation.

And, I think I have a challenging scenario for our spring event..

[TANKS] First Event of the day

2014-10-31 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
And it was to be, FOOTBALL. Four on four, three blockers and a quarterback.
Quarterback moved the ball, tackled by being hit anywhere one time.

Teams: Ravens- Will, Frank, Steve and Joe Baltimore NFL

Stallions- Paul, Loic, Doung and John Baltimore CFL
Teams would start on their goal line, the advance to the next set of cones to
achieve the first down. Play would be 4 8 minute quarters.

Ravens won the toss, and unlike the NFL to day, elected to have the ball.
Joe and the Hetzer played quarterback while the Semovente, SU100and Cromwell
blocked. Game started off slowly while we figured out the strategies. Halfway
through their first possession we realized something was up. They definitely
had backing from the pros. It ended shortly thereafter.

The Stallions then started on their goal line. Seeking inspiration to overcome
the Ravens backing we listened to some uplifting music from Loic's Tiger.
Sadly neither the French National Anthem not the Italian National Anthem seemed
to be working. Playing quarterback was not easy. Aside from my tank taking
paint, at these close ranges the shins were taking a beating . In addition to
avoiding the opfor you had to watch out for teammates. I myself, not my tank,
ran into the SU100 during and end run.

The break in the action was a 3 minute time out while the M-60 was carted off
the field of play. Not to return. Broken leg, front idler axle . So Paul's
Panzer II came on as a replacement. Lucky we had a player on the bench. At one
point I tried to go over the Semovente, did not work. The front 3 of the
Ravens played havoc with us the entire time.

Finally though, a tune came over TBS ( Tiger Broadcast System) lifted our
spirits, yeah I was tired at this point of grinding out the first downs ,and we
were able to tie the score.

And it was decided to end the first event.

[TANKS] Gremlins of Gettysburg

2014-10-26 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
They were out in force today.

Navarone. not sure why -Out

M-60 catastrophic idler axle failure- Out

25 Pounder - Servo elevate failure, then whole system meltdown - Out

Semovente- temp screw snapped on road wheel assembly I believe- repaired

PzII (mine) marker not recocking first time low voltage on 9 volt -replaced

sweaty paintballs chopped in barrel, and feed area , so
much sweat

that the cooper feed tubes from the hopper had to be
cleaned out

for the new ammo to roll freely

reverse thread set screw worked loose and allowed right
drive

to totally disengage. and the left had slightly
loosened -re tightened

Hetzer- unsportsmanlike conduct from Cromwell- blindside block from the

rear broke the safety switch- replaced

If the rest of you could add to the list please. Too many to keep track off.

After the failure of my left motor at the Mullins farm, I used anti-seize
compound on the drive axles and the reverse set screws. Reason: Had to destroy
part of the motor to get it apart. Held up for 2 years and 12 battles. Just
have to remember to check them before each days battle now.

Highlight of the day:the new and improved BAZOOKA JOE.. Deadly,
especially so if a Frenchman is in command of a Tiger. LOL..Well done, both
to the mechanical aspects Mike, and the aiming ability of David.

[TANKS] The Final Battle

2014-10-13 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Entitled hostage rescue, the Smith Clan was supposed to keep us tankers at bay.
I'm not sure what happened, but it was more like we were shopping at the
Hostage Superstore.

The beginning shows one of Steve's many successful runs.

I think the crew of the Semovente had a few too many chianti's. Knocked the
roof off the house, toppled the guard tower, and almost wiped out Alpha Wolf.

Paul enacted a new concept. Can't be shot at when bent over. Later Steve takes
advantage of said new concept. I think it's just a bad thing waiting to happen
myself. LOL.

In the waning minutes of play, the final hostage,( which all of the sudden
became worth more points to Joe's dismay at first) changed hands at least 3
times. Joe ended up victorious as he had possession when time ended.

[TANKS] Lost footage Part Deux

2014-10-06 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Opening scene. Pay close attention to the manipulations that young Mr. Smith
must make to aim the Bofors gun. Keep that in mind when watching the 3 hits
that he lays on the Semovente in the next scene.

Scene two: The Semovente in action. See how the smooth traverse and elevate
work as Frank lays in on his target. So intent is he, that the first tenet is
forgotten.

A stationary tank will get hit. Hear Frank exclaim," That Bofors is a dead guy"
after he is hit 3 times by Mr. Smith

The Semovente fearlessly charges into the valley of death with 3 hits on him.
As he makes for the cover of the trees in reverse, looks like the death blow is
dealt.

Scene three: I score a hit on one of the artillery men. Mr. Smith gets my name,
writes it down and draws a line through it ,then scores an "oops " shot on my
upper right arm. Yes, you hear him say " Sorry", but his chuckle was way too
soft for the microphone to record. LOL.

Scene four: Will and his SU attempt to cross the bridge but Joe's Hetzer comes
up to block the passage.

[TANKS] Caleb and his 25 pounder

2014-10-06 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Here we have Caleb preparing his 25 pounder for battle. Joe provides a tale to
keep Caleb unaware of how closely we are paying attention to the newest
artillery piece. Near the end Joe slips up and mentions the cog wheel that
allows the 25 to rotate so quickly. As he is firing ,the thunks you hear are
the hits on the house down range. This accuracy would prove deadly to many
vehicles in the battles. Good job Caleb.

[TANKS] Lost footage from scenario 1

2014-10-04 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Query. What happened to the Cromwell and the Patton after they
successfully crossed the bridge?

Well, they met up with Papa Smith in command of T-77.
First he takes on the Cromwell. Not sure exactly what takes place
here, but someone is out of ammo. And the Cromwell moves off with T-79 in
pursuit.

Next, Paul is wandering around crying out " Where's the gold? "
Sorry my brother, but such simple interrogation techniques will not work at
this level of play. Possibly that shout drew some attention, as Papa Smith
lays down a nice tight grouping on the flank of the Patton. Caleb was a little
sad to hear that Pop's took his kill.
Seems as though that team had a third tank attempt the bridge
crossing. Perhaps again when the leader cried out "GO GO GO" the defenders
might have been alerted to the attack. Or might not. Not only did the Hetzer
take heavy fire, but so did the commander.

[TANKS] More incursions into the compound

2014-09-29 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Altogether in the first battle there were 4 total invasions. Two in each
separate events. First in was the Semovente, and then the Pz II. Then the
Cromwell followed by the M-60 Patton.

You can hear the fearsome Semovente war cry in this video. I think there was a
mistake made when announcing in a loud voice, "I'm going in"

When the Cromwell crosses the bridge the PzII was in ambush. Sadly, the gunner
forgot to load the clip. Once in an deep in the compound, the M-60 Patton
invades. They had 2 tanks in at the same time.

What do these invasions all have in common you might ask? None of them got the
gold

[TANKS] Battle footage

2014-09-28 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Had some time to sort through the video. Here we have the successful run by
T-79 into the enemy compound to retrieve the gold. You'll see the dangerous
Pak front, Bofors, 25 pounder and the Navarone. Those men laid down some
deadly interlocking fire. Notice the outline of the bridge. That was the only
way in and out of the compound.
As I made my approach I waited for the fore support to arrive. And then
quickly dashed over the bridge and into the compound. Waited for the fire
support to knock out Caleb's gun and then bolted for the bridge. The approaches
to the bridge were slick, perhaps with the blood of the enemy gunners ,and I
spun out briefly. Finally got some traction and I was off to safety. Hope you
enjoy the movie.

[TANKS] Beware the S.C.C.

2014-08-24 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
A new force arrived at today's event. The Smith (nom de guerre) Combat Clan
initially showed no interest in participating, save for Caleb and his 25 pound
anti-tank gun. " No sir, we'd rather not." they chimed in unison. Then,"Okay
if we must, we will play"..

It was all a Pennsylvania ruse!!!. Brothers Isaac and Joshua manned
the Bofors and Navarone while brother Caleb operated his new arty.

THEY LIT US UP MAN. It was brutal. Shots rained from every direction.
Heard Caleb say " Gotcha inna little crossfire, how you like dat? " Even when
using high speed evasive maneuvers, hits came out of no where. Oh the
inhumanity.

After the clan left for home, the executive veterans quorum were heard to
mumble something about a new rule ..I believe it is to be named the Caleb
clause. This reporter was not privy to it's details, but I think it might have
something to due with placement of the arty gunners.. Again, this is only
second hand hearsay ,but on a chain around the waist I think was the
sentence.LOL.

Papa Brian commanded T-77. Sadly for him, firing gremlins abounded. But he
did well for a rookie driver.

Obviously we all had a great day. Stay tuned for video. We have tons to
sift through. Sister of the clan, sorry did not get her name , ran video on my
camera, Chris was also filming. And we have battle cam from my PzII and the
Semovente.
Stu came up looking for ideas to incorporate into his future productions.

Steve said, and I agree, yes that's true, it was one of the most enjoyable
battling days. Weather and scenarios were perfect.

[TANKS] Time to get ready Act 2

2014-07-28 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
More from that first battle session. The dialog is hilarious. Pay attention to
when it dawns on Frank there is an unholy alliance , temporarily, of tanks
versus artillery.
Later, watch as Pauls PzII wades into a hailstorm of hurt. Love the dance. LOL.

I forgot that this battle was the debut for 3 new assets.
Mike's Swedish S Tank and his Spartan supply vehicle.. Wickedly fast!!!
And T-79, my beloved Abomination, PzII Ausf J.

Enjoy, and more to come.

[TANKS] Time to get ready

2014-07-27 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
With four weeks till the next battle, I thought it would be a good time to
pulish some new video. Courtesy of Chris, Mr. Slipway, we have footage from the
June 2 and 3 battles of 2012.
This first section is the first half of Battle #1. Some nice closeups of
the Swedish S Tank, the Conn Tiger, Cromwell, PzII, Paul's, and the artillery.

I have 3 more hours of footage to go through. So, maybe another 6 vids.
Chris did some very nice camera work. It's good to have a different
perspective from the tank level for a change.

All who have participated in a battle, with any of the assets, will tell you
it is a very hectic environment. Picking friend from foe, following the
strategy, or just free lancing, makes no difference. It's crazy man.

So, I've attempted to portray the craziness with my latest video.
In the left frame you'll see the debut of the FOA Tiger operated by Tyng Tech.
I think that the MAG anti-laser paint job did the job that
R&D promised. LOL.
P.S. Mr. Tyng, the bill of $35.00 for use of our premium paintball construction
gaffers tape remains open. Please contact our account manager. I'm sure it's
just an oversight.

[TANKS] Man Down

2014-05-26 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
As we all know, paintball is a sometimes painful sport.

We start the clip with some long range action against Will's SU100. Watch
closely and you'll see the shot explode on his tank. That was the kill hit, he
already had 3 on his tank.
Next , I engage the other PzII . It was being operated by Noah, of the Clan
Martay.
He thought that the rise was protecting him, but as he retreats you'll see the
evidence of the 3 hits. Going for the kill I whirled around the tree and
snapped off a round. Sadly, a bit high. Sorry about that Noah. He shook it off,
and play resumed.

[TANKS] Fox and Hounds excerpts

2014-05-21 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Thought you might like a look at the fox and hounds.

First clip. I am one of the hounds, Frank one of the foxes. Given the tally-ho
signal I venture up the open area to attack the fox. However, seems the fox was
not where indicated and I was properly ambushed. After a brief paint check, I
was somewhat given an opportunity to resume. What follows is some exciting
high speed evasive techniques. ( Performed by a stunt professional, please
don't try this at home)

Sadly , the Tiger Fox still put the final two shots on my hound.

Second clip. I'm one of the foxes. My cub, Caleb, did not listen and strayed
from the den and was quickly dispatched. Safely tucked away in the den, I
watched and listened with amusement at the hunt. At one point, far in the
distance, the baying hounds turned on each other. So, I practiced the fine
controls on the new rotate and elevate systems.

[TANKS] NEWS FLASH: BAD KITTY HAS CLAWS

2014-05-18 Thread 'John Pittelli' via R/C Tank Combat
Yes fellow tankers it TRUE. Bad Kitty showed her claws today. Scored at least
2 unassisted kills today. And was on the field all day. This reporter is not
sure how it happened or why, but it did happen. Here are a few of the theories
that were floated.

1. Rocketman shed at least 40 pounds. Of equipment that is. No longer
encumbered by the astronaut style backpack allowed the feline to be more
nimble and be able to access more secluded areas of the battlefield.

2. Replacing the Wi-Fi system was a product from Cheap Control Systems. That's
right, Bad Kitty was sporting a C12C Rocketman when interviewed at lunch
stated, yes that was an interview Doug, " Well, it's not a flexible as the
puter when it comes to changing various limits, but, it's a heck of a lot
lighter".
3. MAG jamming of Wi-Fi signals was therefore rendered useless.
This reporter seemed to get the idea that having fewer options with which to
tinker allowed Bad Kitty's driver to only have to drive, aim and fire.

Nicely done Doug.. Please, please don't practice. We cannot afford to have Bad
Kitty show her fangs also. LOL.
