Re: [RE-wrenches] Mate3 verses Mate3S
Tump, I have a system exactly like this one and had similar AGS issues. Once we ruled out conflicts between the internal Aux commands and the AGS menu in the Mate, we eventually figured out it was heat related. We were using the top inverter on one of the quad stacks for AGS and that inverter ran hotter than the others. The genset would start as expected but the shutdown was extremely erratic, sometimes running for 10-15 hours if someone didn't catch it right away. The problems stopped when we moved the AGS function to the bottom inverter. Such a simple solution that took far too long to figure out. I hope the solution to your issue turns out to be as simple (and cheap!) as mine. Re: [RE-wrenches] Mate3 verses Mate3S
I know its not the same equipment, but we recently had a Magnum autostart doing strange things, and it turns out we had it set up for the wrong generator configuration. With all the different types of starting configurations on all the different generators, strange things can happen. We're actually considering taking the advice of a recent Wrench post, and declaring that our insurance doesn't cover AGS. If it starts when it shouldn't and possibly contributes to a fire? very bad. If it doesn't start when it should and causes refrigerated food to spoil and heating systems to go down? also very bad. I get more call backs for AGS, then any other thing, and its usually a generator issue (which we didn't sell). If you press and hold the UP button it will force an update. After the update is complete it might be a good idea to clear the Internal Data Logs. Re: [RE-wrenches] MATE3 restart
Jesse: You may have an intermittent Ethernet connection. Pressure on a button may move the Mate3 chassis in a subtle amount, but enough to disturb the connections to the device. I suggest you try a temporary, factory made or known good Ethernet cable. You might want to be very careful that you don't accidentally plug the hub cable into the internet port. I believe it is possible that you could damage the internet port by doing so. [RE-wrenches] MATE3 Inverter Mode
Hi Wrenches, I was hoping I may be able to get some guidance on navigating through the new MATE3 controller. We have a customer that swapped out their original MATE for the MATE3 in order to have access to on-line monitoring of their system, since it is a part time residence with limited access and unoccupied in the winter. Since the new controller was installed they have had issues with the AGS. I was on site last Friday and was able to sort out the AGS issues, at least I thought I had. I left the site with the generator charging the batteries. After the generator had ran for about 5 hrs and the battery voltage read 51.5 volts the customer called concerned that the generator had not shut down after the charge reached a float level. They turned the generator off and at that point lost half the loads in the house because the slave inverter had shut down. I can see that the inverter mode is “off” through the on-line monitor. I will probably be heading back up to the site tomorrow for more troubleshooting, but at this point I would really like to be able to guide the customer through getting the secondary inverter turned back on so they have all their loads powered up without running the generator. This is the first time I have worked with the MATE3 and have searched high and low through the manual to try and find how I can access the mode setting for the slave inverter, so that I can turn it back on, but I have found nothing. If it was a weekday I am sure an Outback tech could send me in the right direction, but I am hoping someone out there in the wrenches world has got the MATE3 dialed in. Any input would be much appreciated. Hi Orion. Go into locked menu systems menu inverter stacking in the stacking menu is where you set it all up And I take it you are not using a balancing transformer, curious why not? Re: [RE-wrenches] MATE3 Inverter Mode
Thanks Jay, Just got off the phone with Darren at Outback. It sounds like the issue is that the Stacking Mode for the Slave inverter is set as OB Slave L1, and should be OB Slave L2. This is causing the slave inverter to go into a power save mode. The system is 120/240 at the house panel, single phase, no balancing transformer. 240 VAC off the Kohler generator. *Orion Thornton* Project Manager Independent Power Systems NABCEP Certified PV Installer (Office) 406.587.5295 (Mobile) 406.249.9912 www.solarips.com *From:* re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org [mailto: re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org] *On Behalf Of *jay peltz *Sent:* Sunday, October 30, 2011 11:44 AM *To:* RE-wrenches *Subject:* Re: [RE-wrenches] MATE3 Inverter Mode Hi Orion.
