Re: [Repeater-Builder] First repeater and need some info

2006-11-26 Thread N9LLO
Sounds like you need to repair/replace the station control or the repeater
control board. You might need to look at the line driver also. I dont have a
manual in front of me so I am going from memory. You need the service manual
and
some test equipment.

[Repeater-Builder] TKR-720/820

2006-11-26 Thread WD7F - John in Tucson
Can anyone tell me a source for parts for the TKR-720/820 repeater. Is
Kenwood the only source? I have a Signaling Unit that crapped out.
Somebody on the board is dragging down the 5V regulated and it's not easy
for this old guy to see that tiny stuff, let alone solder it.

2006-11-26 Thread Mathew Quaife
Just to say thanks to all who helped in getting this pup setup, the first one
is done and working well. All is left is getting the xtals, cw id'er and a
tone board for the receiver and it's ready to go on the air.

The looks are crude, but the performance is awesome. Thanks again.

[Repeater-Builder] GE Exec Time Out Timer issue needs attention

2006-11-26 Thread n9lv
Is there a way to bypass the time out timer in the GE or at least
change it to more than one minute, more like 4 minutes. Also, when
the time out timer kicks in, the radio has to be shut off in order to
get it to reset. Is there a fix to bypass this as well. Thanks.

Kenwood has a parts depot in both the west cost and east cost. I am not
sure if they sell to non dealers.

RE: [Repeater-Builder] GE Exec Time Out Timer issue needs attention

2006-11-26 Thread Thomas Oliver
I think you could just unplug it? It plugs into the system board I believe.
Near the center of the board there is a row of 6 pins it just plugs onto.
It may even have a variable resistor to set the time (I cant remember for
sure). I have seen some but never used one on my stuff. I imagine you could
increace capacitor or resistor sizes on the timer board til you get it long
enough to suit you.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] TKR-720/820

2006-11-26 Thread WD7F - John in Tucson
I suffer with the inability to walk away from an electronics
malfunction...can't sleep, can't think of anything else. Turns out that the
22 uFD electrolytic where the 12.8 V comes into the signaling unit had
failed. I took it out and the thing worked for a few seconds. I measured
the resistance of the in-series 10 ohm surface mount resistor preceeding the
cap and it was reading 750 ohms. I jumped it with a 10 ohm resistor and
everything started working.

I suppose the heat from the soldering iron may have screwed up that
resistor, but it seems unlikely. Danged if I know! Ain't electronics fun?

Anyway, I STILL wonder if it's possible to find circuit boards for the
TKR720/820.

[Repeater-Builder] Wanted: 1 5/8 N-type air hardline connector

2006-11-26 Thread dvickn4ome
Recently our repeater site was burglarized and the connector along with
several feet of the 1 5/8 air hardline was stolen. (for the copper)
There were several other pieces of hardline also stolen. I'm willing
to purchase a 1 5/8 N-type connector for air hardline. I would
appreciate hearing if anyone has a connector or a source for one.

Thanks

buying another repeater. I have the URLs bookmarked.
