Re: [Repeater-Builder] Looking for data on old heliax
Jeff, I FAXed you the Cablewave Systems data sheet on the 1/4 inch hardline earlier this evening. Hope you received it and it's what your looking for. I did talk to my friend in Connecticut this evening and he said Cablewave Systems is now called Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) and relocated to Meriden, Ct. They were a ham friendly and he thinks they still are. Hope this helps. Gary K2UQ YAHOO! GROUPS LINKS Visit your group "Repeater-Builder" on the web. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Looking for data on old heliax/Jeff
Jeff, I have information on Cablewave Systems FXA 14-50 1/4 (810951-002). Foamflex copper center, low loss cellular polyethylene foam dielectric and smooth wall aluminum outer conductor. Cable size: 1/4 inch Imp 50 ohm velocity of Propagation percent 81 Max. Freq 90% fco Ghz 19.2 etc., etc. A protective black outer jacket will have a "J" suffix (FXA 38-50J) If this is what you want, give me your FAX number and I will send it to you. My old Prodelin and Phelps Dodge/Cel Wave catalogs list what you want but no velocity factor given. I am in Trenton, NJ and its payback timethank you for the two Icom's you left for me on my repeater a couple years ago. Hope this helps. Gary Katona K2UQ YAHOO! Re: [Repeater-Builder] Looking for data on old heliax
Hello Jeff: I thought I had an old comprod catalog, but can't find it. However, I did have an old 1974 vintage Prodelin catalog. It had their line of Spir 0 foam coaxial cable listed. It did have listed in it a very similar 1/2" type cable with a VF of 81%. Perhaps they made this cable for com products or vice versa. The VF for the 75 and 50 ohm cable of this size and 3/8" and 7/8" were also the same. Again, if you want me to fax the page out of this catalog, let me know. I'll bet the VF is 81% on that vintage cable. During that era, they all competed with the same spec cable. Ciao, 73, Tony, K3WX Jeff DePolo WN3A wrote: > T > Thanks for the offer Tony. RE: [Repeater-Builder] Looking for data on old heliax
T Thanks for the offer Tony. My friend has that same catalog which lacks a Vf spec which is why I thought I'd try checking here. Does anyone remember if ComProd (before it became Phelps-Dodge) made coax? That was before my time. It covers the 50 Ohm Aluminum Sheathed foamflex cables, FX12-50 and FX 12-50H, but nothing on the FX-14-50. Interesting thing is that the specs don't mention the VF, only dimensions, loss, etc. If you would like, send me your fax number, and I'll fax you the pages of the cables from the catalog. [Repeater-Builder] Looking for data on old heliax
Trying to help a friend locate some data on Phelps-Dodge FX-14-50 (or FX-14-50H) cable, probably from the early or mid 70's. It's 1/4", aluminum shield, jacketed cable. In particular he's looking for the velocity factor. The cable is in use as buried sample lines in AM array, and he needs an accurate Vf figure to locate a fault by TDR.
