RE: [Repeater-Builder] new to the group

2009-01-20 Thread Nate Duehr
Welcome aboard Repeater-Builder.

Since you're doing 900 MHz, also make sure you sign up for the AR902MHz
group on Yahoo. Plenty of nice folks all dedicated just to that band there.

Mostly repeater topics, haven't seen any weak-signal 902 folks really post
there ever, but I guess it'd be on-topic if we did...

[Repeater-Builder] New to the group!

2004-11-28 Thread Anthony L .Ferguson

Hello Everyone,

My callsign is KB4ZGO. I would like to run an Idea of mine past the
group. My idea is like the TV show "Monstor garage" I would like to
build a large size simplex repeater. I know it can be built!

I know Radio Shack had a COS device called a simplex repeater
controller. This device was very simple , it could be connected to a
handheld radio and then become a simplex repeater. My Idea would be
something like this but on a larger scale.

I have looked around at different controllers and thought that the
NHRC-3-90 would be a good choice for such a controller. True this
item being retired, I'm sure once I have figured what all is need to
construct this Large size simplex repeater I will contact them for
the price of construction.

Now! I would like to ask help from the group for suggestion on
equipment and controllers to make my little project come to life.

Please don't hold back the suggestions , I have an open mind and True
I know I will get some feed back telling me I am off my rocker! Hey!
that is alright! At least I'm still using my mind and experimenting !

Thanks 73 de KB4ZGO

Yes, simplex repeaters both large and small can be built. The advantage of
a simplex repeater is lower parts count including no duplexer.
The disadvantage is that it takes a little bit of getting used to hearing
your own transmissions being repeated back to you.

I recommend the NHRC controllers. Besides being well build and economical,
they will CWID your system in accordance with Part 97. Many other
controllers, including the Radio Shack unit, will not.

I run a Yahoo Group dedicated to simplex repeaters. It has about 300
members so there are others out there with similar interests.

2004-11-28 Thread Mathew Quaife

I think you might have missed what the simplex repeater was all about. It
is not actually a repeater, it has a digital chip that records the voice and
then retransmit it. So this repeater that you are wanting to build would
have to have a DVR that is capable of retransmission. Not sure what you are
looking to do here, but sounds more work than it is worth.

Good Luck

Mathew

2004-11-27 Thread Steve Bosshard \(NU5D\)

Used a Zetron Simplexor and Kenwood, TK860 Mobile Radio. Understand that
CSI, Communications Systems Inc. now manufactures a box just for that
purpose. I used to use one to extend 2 tone paging for volunteer fire
departments. It had it's own paging code for activation so the voice calls
would not parrot, but paging tones used a first code to activate, followed
by a second code and the message that were recorded and played back. Worked
really well.

[Repeater-Builder] New to the group!

2004-11-27 Thread Anthony L .Ferguson

Hello My call sign is KB4ZGO . I have a project in mind and would
like to run my idea past the group. I am familiar with somethings and
not with others, so I may get some help or suggestions from the group.

I would like to build a simplex repeater on either 2 meters or 440Mhz.
I have looked at several controlers from NHRC and Hamtronics and
found that it is possible to configure a simplex repeater using
something like The NHRC-3-90 which is retired . Using the NHRC-3-90
controler with a GE Master Executive II or simular equipment from
Motorola can be done . I would like to know if anyone could suggest
any other equipment that could be used ?

I know that Radio shack had a simplex COS simplex repeater unit years
ago and has been discontinued. Those little units were mainly used
for hand held equipment.I would like to build at MONSTOR simplex
repeater using a COS controller and some type of high power
transceiver to work with the controler.

I know it may sound dumb or stupid but heck I's still experimenting !
hi hi! thanks 73 de KB4ZGO
