Paul,

It use to state in Part 97 damaging a Ham Radio station was an FCC
violation. Think this went away with the 70s if it feels good then do
it attitude and all that freedom stuff or maybe because so much equip
comes from Japan.

I think we owe it to Ham Radio that we monitor Carl's activities when it
comes to Ham gear. Now cats I care less. Besides they eat their young.

I think we should start a ASPCA chapter here. I bet we could get some
gov grant, maybe from Homeland Security. They give out money for less
and are very interested in radio comm.

Hi Dan,

Unfortunately, Your attachments are not stored by the groups e-mail
system. I believe You would first have to Post them to a folder . Then
everyone could Take-a Peek.I'm sorta new round these parts so
I'm not quite sure if this is something you could do, or if it has to be
handled through one of the moderators..BUT...You could e-mail them
direct to me at the E-Mail listed

Would be most interested in taking a look at the info.Like you said,
Maybe it could be put in the files section

Carl,
On mine, they showed up as attachments, which when I clicked on them, they
opened right up.

I thought someone recently asked for the dipole feed impedance as well, so...

If I'm reading the diagram right, the dipole feed impedance is 100 ohms.

I once grabbed a *bad* DB420 from a local two-way dealer's bone yard.
The bottom of the main feed coax had been roached by lightning. But
the top half of the antenna was fine. The top half of a DB420 is
basically a DB408. It still works well to this day.

The harness uses a combination of 50 and 35-ohm cable. I've never

I agree, even with the precise measurements (if they were to be found),
weatherproofing will be a bit of a challenge.

I've gotten replacement harnesses in the past. That will be your best
chance. Don't scrap the antenna - you never know...

 Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Homebrew DB-408-Sort of...

  Hello to all,
I recently came across a DB-408 ant.(450-470Mhz) which was scheduled
for demolition...Although the Aluminum was still in tact, The phasing
harness was gone... So,...I'm wondering... Is there a practical way to
build a phasing harness for the antenna??? Tried to contact Andrew, as
well as some distributors,..was told the harness has been discontinued
may be able to be custom ordered (sounds already too expensive ;-)but
  haven't recvd. a reply yet...

I did a brief search on the groups site, but found nothing with enough
info that would allow me to re-create this harness. Also came across
Skipp's diagram of the 408 on the R-B web site, but either my poor
monitor, old printer, or weak eyes, would not allow me to ascertain
enough info to reproduce the harness... Although I could make out most
of the dimensions, I didn't notice what type (impedance) of cable was
  used for it.
So I guess the short of it all is...Does anyone have the information
available that would allow me to rebuild this harness

I know there will be issues with weatherproofing it..but right
now,I'm not too concerned about that...Just hate to see such a
  beautiful sculpture turned into scrap...

  Thanks for any thoughts,
  Carl

Hello Chuck,
Yeah , I knew it wasn't going to be simply connecting equal lengths of
50 ohm cable in parallel. I was hoping with all the knowledgeable people
in the group, I might find someone that might have some experience with
this.
