Fred

Would this also work for voice tracker. We find ourselves importing
files manually. I know want to speed up the process. Can you give an
example of how to start import the files.

Thanks

As I am a novice here, I would be most grateful if you could do me
the favour of providing an example usage of nested-import.pl, just
so that I get it right first time.

The command-line invocation I am using currently would be:

rdimport --verbose --segue-level=-10 --autotrim-level=-30
--normalization-level=-10 MUSIC *

How would I call the Perl script with these parameters?

The usage is very similar to that of rdimport(1) — in fact, it takes
all of the same options. The difference is that the now
refers to *directories*, rather than files! So, say you had a
directory full of MP3s in a directory called ‘/home/rd/MyMusic’.
You could import the whole batch into a group called ‘MUSIC’ by
doing:

 nested-import.pl MUSIC /home/rd/MyMusic

If ‘/home/rd/MyMusic’ contained subdirectories, it would recurse
down into those as well. And so on.

However, a lot of the real power lies in the fact that all of the
usual rdimport(1) commands can still be given and will work as
expected. Thus, you could do:

 nested-import.pl --segue-level=-10 --autotrim-level=-30
--normalization-level=-10 MUSIC /home/rd/MyMusic

and all of those level parameters would be applied to each import,
just as if you’d done each one individually with rdimport(1).

It works with scheduler codes too. Say Drew has sent you a USB drive
full of Bahamian music, which you’ve mounted at
‘/media/usb_key’. You could create a scheduler code (in
rdadmin(1)) called ‘BHMA’, then import the music by doing:

 nested-import.pl --add-scheduler-code=BHMA MUSIC /media/usb_key

and then every file imported would be tagged with code ‘BHMA’ so
you could program the music scheduler to call for one wherever you
wanted to add a little Caribbean flavor to your music mix. (Of course,
you can also add your standard level parameters to that invocation so
the levels and markers come in just right as well).

Lots of possibilities here. The easiest way to get started is the
experiment with a few files and see what effect turning the various
knobs produce. I wouldn’t try a batch of 5000 files until you have a
good sense of what to expect.

Cheers!

In the 14 ( or is it 18 ? ) machine system we have,
that's exactly how it's done, and for those same reasons.

There is the additional that VNC is also on the on-air
machines so that when the place is unattended, a competent
person can get in and fix something, just in case.
In order to do it, they first have to vnc into the "second"
machine in your scenario, then vnc to the on-air.
The extra steps make it certain that it's not an accident.
Most of the people are coming from vnc on windows, but at least
one comes in from vnc on his iPad.

There is also x11vnc at my desk workstation, but normally not running.
If needed ( it has been ) the procedure is to ssh -L
5900:localhost:5900

into that machine, then start x11vnc "locally" and then VNC in.
It's a bit more secure that way, but not for the neophyte.

Are you using any timed events? I have never known Rivendell to skip
over

a playable event except because of a timed event.

Which leads me to the second question: are the skipped events
playable?
I've occasionally seen audio files imported into Rivendell with the
start

and end dates enabled and set to something weird.

Will the files play in rdlibrary?

Re: [RDD] Schedule codes in Clock rules not saved correctly

2018-11-19 Thread Peter Claes
Hi,

I investigated the problem a little further.

When I open the Rules for ANY clock, it show the value of OR_AFTER
also for OR_AFTER_II

While in the database it is correct.

if I wish to alter it (by clicking the rule), the value for
OR_AFTER_II is NOT displayed

If I save it (hitting OK closing the clock), it is stored in database,

If I open is it again show the value of OR_AFTER twice. (instead of
OR_AFTER and OR_AFTER_II)

Any ideas ?

Regards
Peter

Set up your day then click-enter to copy down the week.

It's a bit tedious but it's not something you do very often.

Stealing a feature from our current system, is there a shortcut key

2)  Copy selected day to paste to other days of the week.

I know there is a global "copy to all hours" function, but this is a
bit more granular.

Re: [RDD] Win32 build ini file question

2018-11-19 Thread Lorne Tyndale
Hi Alan,

Understandably you need to have a license which you can use legally.

The SourceForge version (version 6.9.0.31) is released under the GPL
Version 2 which means you can use it for commercial or non-commercial
use. You can download it to confirm that it comes with the "GNU GPL V2"
license file. There is a Windows installer with Windows binaries on
SourceForge that is released under GPL V2. Or you can grab the source.
Here's a link that'll give you the binary installer:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/files/latest/download

For versions newer then 6.9.0.31 - the author has decided to put those
on his own website and they require a paid license as you've pointed
out. Currently his website lists Version 7.7.0.38.

I agree that it is a little confusing - the author talks about the
Sourceforge release as a "public domain" release adding to the
confusion. But this is clearly not the case. The Sourceforge release
clearly comes with the GPL V2 license - which is not technically a
"public domain" license, but rather comes with all the rights and
protections of the GPL V2 license. It does mean that we can use it
without an additional fee - either commercial or non-commercial - this
is part of GPL V2.

The newer version from his website comes with a different license as
you've pointed out. That's the one that you'd need to pay for.

For what it is worth, I've not run into any difficulties with the
Sourceforge GPL-V2 release.

Hope this clears it up.
