Thanks David, I'll give that a go. I changed the default transition for
something, but can't remember off the top of my head is it was for RDairplay,

confirm, as Drew already said, it's not an issue with version 2

Hey Folks,

tl;dr: check the default transition types in RDAirPlay and RDLogEdit.

I too concur with Chuck's thought -- not sure why Segue transition is an
option. Maybe simply Rivendell's historical "baggage"?

Have you checked the default transition types in RDAirPlay and RDLogEdit
(RDAdmin->Manage Hosts->[hostname]->{RDLogEdit,RDAirPlay} ?

It's not clear to me that these settings have an effect on creating or editing
Events in RDLogManager (that is, I haven't looked at the source code), but I
fiddled with default settings. With the defaults set to "Segue" I can create a
new Event (on version 3.2.1) and the Segue transition was available (not
greyed out) for "Imported carts have a" setting. Then I changed the defaults
to "Play" and the "Import carts have a" setting was greyed out.

So I recommend checking and/or changing the defaults as another attempt to
make "Segue" available when creating an Event.

Hope this helps!

2020-03-05 Thread Andy Cooper
Ok, It's a new day now here in the UK, so I'll be back at trying to get
Rivendell working as a server and client setup this afternoon.

I agree entirely with Chuck. I'm also trying to make every cart have a segue
transition to keep things nice and tight on air. But with Rivendell v3 that
doesn't appear to be possible.

My concern as someone looking to select a playout system for a new station, is
that there could be other bugs in v3. So should I be installing v2, or even
something totally different instead?

I am in programming and definitely not an IT pro, but have never
understood why there is a need for the Play vs Segue issue.  From the
get-go, I set our system up as Segue only.  If no segue markers are
set, the cart acts as if it were assigned as Play--even in an all-Segue
setup.  With this method, there's one less element in the decision
process for each cart.  There has never been anything we have wanted to
do that we cannot with this setup--in either live or log-generation
circumstances.

We run fairly tight production and like the ability to start voice
carts over the fade/ringout at the end of carts with music.  But for
voice carts or programs with no segues set, those air in an all-segue
setup the same as if they were executed as a Play transition.  Same is
true when playing in Manual mode:  all carts air as if they were Play,
even if they have segue markers set.

Hi Drew,Thanks for your effort, but it doesn't work. It works up until I remove the hard start time. I can get Segue in all 3 boxes, first cart transition is still greyed out though. At that stage I have Segue Timed (make next), scheduler. If I open the event for editing again everything is set to seg but middle one of the three is greyed out. I then remove the hard start time check-box and everything keeps saying segue, top one then also greys out. However if I save it again and look on the upper level it's gone back to Play, Scheduler. This looks like a serious bug and I find it hard to believe nobody has come across this before.
