Re: [RDD] Pause a recording in RDLibrary?
Hi Seth, I have ported it before - but this newer one has a few libraries - the original source tar from Audacity can be built in Linux "relatively" easily. The tricky part always is adding the specific libraries you need so that it will work with Rivendell database and it's components. This program has several libraries you would need to compile it with: LIBCURL, MySql, EXPAT XML parser Lib, and Rivendell-C-LIB (which I wrote). The first three libraries are readily available and Rivendell-C-Lib exists on a github link which I will direct people to. ( https://github.com/RadioFreeAsia/rivendell-c-api ). So - how easy ?? - I don't really know.. but not impossible to do... The Rivendell-C-Library is pretty easy to compile in Linux, which is where it was developed. As for the other libraries, they shouldn't be to hard to build/find.. A respectable notion, though with the potential to be abused. Just as an FYI, I use Audacity and JACK to share the sound card with Riv. Via Audacity preferences and some JACK wizardry we even force Audacity to not use the main play out so in essence you can record and play back while live on air without making Audacity live. The options to open the library etc directly seem interesting though. Regards, Wayne On 28/07/16 21:28, Tom Van Gorkom wrote: Interesting. Re: [RDD] Pause a recording in RDLibrary?
Dear Ermina, I understand your need for a recording tool that you can use, and although RDLibrary can do that I don't think it was really intended for recording segments. Here at RFA we use Audacity to record our segments/Carts etc. Our version actually interfaces with Rivendell directly, and is our own version - since Audacity is Open Source. I am looking into creating a git hub repository that could allow people to use/build this version of the tool but because of trademark issues - we can't call it Audacity, they have the rights to that name. AudioRiv maybe? I will let you, and the Rivendell community as well, if it makes it into a git hub repository somewhere. Our version of Audacity works on Windows (Win 7 and Win 10), however, it could be ported to Linux (I once built an Ubuntu version) and other OS's as well with some work Best Regards, Todd Baker Technician Radio Free Asia, Washington D.C. - Original Message - From: "ermina" <erm...@studioplume.com> To: "User discussion about the Rivendell Radio Automation System" <rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org> Sent: Thursday, July 28, 2016 10:08:17 AM Subject: Re: [RDD] Pause a recording in RDLibrary? When recording long sessions (itw, translations, etc.) there is always a time one needs a break or is interrupted for whatever reason. And there is also a good reason for one session to be in one cut. It's easier to hit pause than to handle GBytes of 32 bits silence around the network and into the production station. While it's also easy to forget to "un-pause", that should be a per user option. on the creative side that would allow to do some "tourné-monté" (in-camera editing) which is sometimes a fine strategy to do quick and efficient things. . e ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev

I would argue that such functionality really belongs on the production side of things, not in the radio automation. Cheers! |--| | Frederick F.
