[Rosegarden-user] RG 14.12

2015-06-17 Thread Henry W. Peters
Hi,

Trying to compile RG 14.12 (it's not in the repository, I currently have
RG 13.06) on my Ubuntu Studio 14.10.

I checked & installed all the dependencies (except one, as stated below)
from http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/wiki/dev:contributing

I get an error message upon ./configure...

> checking for dssi.h... yes
> checking X11/SM/SMlib.h usability... no
> checking X11/SM/SMlib.h presence... no
> checking for X11/SM/SMlib.h... no

I try installing libsm-dev from Synaptic & get a warning message to the
effect that the package is broken...

Question: what to do?

Thanks.

Henry

& that didn't work either... I tried uninstalling Timidity... now there
are "no ports" available.

Sorry, I forgot to say I am running Debian Squeeze 6.0.6 (latest
version), Kernel Linux 2.6.32-5-686, GNOME 2.30.2; & midi/audio device
is an Echo MiaMidi.

I checked the Qjackctl setup panel... for midi driver, I was running
"seq," I also tried (then) "none," neither options worked. In the mean
time, going to try reinstalling my alsa driver.

Feedback APPRECIATED.

I just downloaded 12.12 from SVN. Installed it... An "upgrade" from
previous version, & voila, RG won't recognize my midi/audio device...
Qjackctl does... (& it (RG) did before) what to do?

Thanks,
Henry

P.s., manage midi devices does show Timidity... but no output/input from
this (never used Timidity, so I know nothing about it).

OK, thanks all, renaming to Rosegarden-11.11.tar.bz2 worked for the
extraction part.

I would encourage people to add to the list whenever you find the time. If
there is a more practical way to make such a list than the way I have now

[Rosegarden-user] Current version for Debian Squeeze Debian Squeeze; Rosegarden v10.04.2 ?

2011-03-22 Thread Henry W. Peters
Well, I had some sound problems, etc., with my distro (Debian Squeeze),
now, after a clean install, reinstalling my recording programs,
including Rosegarden. I see on the RG distro page it recommends
Rosegarden v10.04.2, was I entirely premature in downloading v. 11.02 &
expecting it to work (? :))

Plus, since I am recompiling everything (& or installing in other
ways)... programs that use Jackd... I take it jackd2 is OK?

Thanks

Henry
