*2 STORIES* - - - - - (Anybody we know?)

Stranded

A redneck, a sheep, and a dog were survivors of a terrible shipwreck.
They found themselves stranded on an unknown island. After being there a
while, they got into the habit of going to the beach every evening to
watch the sun set.

One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus
clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle; a perfect night for romance.
As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the
redneck. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it.
But the dog got jealous, growling fiercely until the redneck took his
arm from around the sheep. After that, the three of them continued to
enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling.

A few weeks passed by and lo and behold, there was another shipwreck.
The only survivor was a beautiful young woman, the most beautiful woman
the redneck had ever seen. She was in a pretty bad way when they rescued
her, and they slowly nursed her back to health.

When the young maiden was well enough, they introduced her to their
evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening: red sky, cirrus
clouds, a warm and gentle breeze; perfect for a night of romance.

Pretty soon, the redneck started to get those feelings again. He
fought them as long as he could, but he finally gave in and leaned over
to the young woman, cautiously, and whispered in her ear... Would you
mind taking the dog for a walk.
.

Advice from Grandpa

This touched me. This once again confirms that the most important
information in your life won't come from a teacher, the library or the
internet, but from a mentor and on a very personal level.
My long-passed grandfather's birthday is coming up, and for me it is a
time to reminisce about the long walks we used to take. The long drives.
The special trips he would make to pick me up so I could spend weekends
with him, and the advice he used to give!

Much was wasted because I was young when he died. If he were alive today
and sharing his gems of wisdom, I'd be a better man. Those gems were
well and good, but the one I remember most, the jewel in the crown of
grandfatherly advice, came when he paused, looked me in the eye and
said, Son ... don't marry a woman with big hands. It makes your pecker
look smaller.

Pittman suspended after being charged with indecency

November 13, 2003
By CHRISTOPHER FERRELL
Eagle Staff Writer

A Texas AM University football player has been charged with indecent
exposure after police say he masturbated in a university parking lot while
smiling at a female student who was trying to park her car.

Tate Pittman, a freshman defensive lineman from Odessa, was released
Thursday from the Brazos County Jail after posting $10,000 bail. He has been
suspended from the team, according to a release issued by AM Athletics
Director Bill Byrne.

A female student was trying to park her car Oct. 28 when Pittman, 18, pulled
up next to her in a Dodge Ram and began smiling at her, according to court
records.

When the woman walked closer to the truck, records state, Pittman asked her,
Can you help me with this? as he motioned to his exposed genitals.

The woman contacted College Station police several days later and identified
Pittman from a lineup.

It was the second time Pittman has been arrested in less than six weeks. He
was charged with driving while intoxicated in September but has not stood
trial on that charge.

Texas AM football coach Dennis Franchione said Thursday he would not
comment and directed reporters to Byrne's statement.

The statement, issued Thursday afternoon, said only that Pittman had been
suspended from the program indefinitely for violating Athletic Department
rules and the university's code of conduct.

Pittman has not played in a game this season for the Aggies and was being
redshirted.

Curious? Heck its plain as day.

LSU is coming to town and he wants to have as many weapons in the backfield
as he can get. Although I don't think it will make much difference since LSU
is like what, 2nd or 3rd in the nation in run defense???

I can't wait till someone connects the dots between Brandon's suspension and
this drug bust. And another thing.the articles I've read don't mention
anyone else getting arrested nor do they state that the raid took place at
Ray's house. It mentions that Ray was at the 'residence', but it doesn't say
whose house it was.

What we need is a good private eye to get the scoop for us.

I disagree. Surprised?

Ray-Ray is innocent until proven guilty. Do I think he's innocent? No,
not really. But you don't throw him off the team until the case against
him is proven, and that ain't going to happen this year.

I'd be willing to bet that if ScR weren't under a gag-order, he'd agree

By allowing Ray to play, he sends a signal to the rest of the team that

reminds me of the Dumbose error, I mean, era. That
 being that he isn't in
complete control of the team and will allow such
 violations to go
un-punished - provided there is a big game upcoming.

 I disagree. Surprised?

Ray-Ray is innocent until proven guilty. Do I think
 he's innocent? No,
not really. But you don't throw him off the team

Finally she touches her ribs and can barely maintain

Am I reading this correctly? Does it say that the search warrant was
executed some time after the raid took place? It appears that the raid took
place prior to the search warrant being executed and when it was, Ray
happened to be in the house and was caught.

Also, it sez small amounts (amounts) of marijuana were found on him. Its
almost like they had to search his clothing and find very small pieces of
weed in different places. If he had a bag or a dube, why didn't it read like
a small amount (singular) of marijuana was found...

[RollTideFan] Little Johnny...

2003-11-14 Thread Joel Perry
Little Johnny was in his 4th grade class when the teacher asked the children
what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up --
fireman, policeman, salesman, etc... Johnny was being uncharacteristically
quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes
in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out
to the alley with some guy and make love with him for money.

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other
children to work on some coloring, and took Little Johnny aside to ask him,
Is that really true about your father?

No, said Johnny, He coaches for Auburn, but I was too embarrassed to say
so.

[RollTideFan] Judge hears arguments in ex-UA coaches' lawsuit

2003-11-14 Thread kurt rasmussen
http://www.tidesports.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20031114/NEWS/31114001/1011

BREAKING NEWS: Judge hears arguments in ex-UA coaches' lawsuit

By Scott Parrott
Staff Writer
November 14, 2003
TUSCALOOSA | The legal battle over whether to keep documents
confidential in the multi-million dollar lawsuit filed by two former
University of Alabama assistant football coaches against the NCAA
entered the courtroom this morning, ending without a decision by the judge.

Attorneys for the NCAA, NCAA enforcement representative Richard A.
Johanningmeier and freelance sports recruiting analyst Tom Culpepper
argued that the release of certain documents could damage their clients.

Delaine Mountain, a Tuscaloosa attorney representing the former coaches,
argued that the defendants were trying to hide things under a barrel,
and attempting to keep the truth from the public in the high-profile case.

Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Steve Wilson made no official ruling as
to whether to allow The Tuscaloosa News to intervene in the case, but an
attorney for the newspaper presented its argument, addressing the rights
of the media and the public to judicial proceedings and records, during
the 90-minute hearing. The Tuscaloosa News filed a motion Wednesday
asking the judge to deny requests by the defendants to keep records secret.

The former coaches claim they have been unable to find reliable work
since the December 2000 dismissal of former Crimson Tide head football
coach Mike DuBose and his staff. Cottrell and Williams were assistants
under DuBose. The dismissal followed an NCAA investigation into the
Crimson Tide football program that found that UA boosters had offered
improper inducements to recruit Memphis, Tenn., high school football
player Albert Means and other players.

See Saturday's Tuscaloosa News for more from Scott Parrott on the
Cottrell/Williams lawsuit

Exxon Mobil Ordered to Pay $11.9B in Nat. Gas Dispute With Alabama
Friday, November 14, 2003
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A jury ordered Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) to pay $11.9
billion in damages Friday in the state of Alabama's suit over disputed
natural gas royalties.
The jury awarded $63.6 million in compensatory damages and $11.8 billion in
punitive damages, a record in the state.
We felt Exxon thought they were going to get away with this, said jury
foreman Joe King, a Montgomery teacher. We wanted to send a message that
they were not, and that this corporation can't get away with doing wrong.
Jurors had to find Exxon Mobil committed fraud to return the
multibillion-dollar verdict Alabama sought. They deliberated 4 hours
Thursday and about two hours Friday.
The state sued Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil in 1999, contending the
company had violated its leases for natural gas wells (search) in
state-owned waters along the Alabama coast (search). The state accused the
company of cheating Alabama out of millions of dollars by intentionally
deducting too much in expenses for operating the wells.
Exxon Mobil's attorneys said the company has followed its leases with the
state and owes Alabama nothing.
The case was first tried in 2000, when a Montgomery jury awarded the state
$3.5 billion. The decision was overturned by the Alabama Supreme Court,
which said the jury was wrongly allowed to see an internal oil company memo.
That prompted a new trial that began Oct. 20.
In closing arguments Wednesday, state attorney Robert Cunningham said the
state government had been shorted $63.6 million in royalties and that the
loss could have climbed to as much as $930 million over the 30-year life of
the natural gas field in Mobile Bay. He asked the jury to return a verdict
of up to 10 times the potential loss, or $9.3 billion.
Exxon Mobil's attorneys said Alabama used a new kind of a lease for wells
along the coast rather than the standard industry lease. The oil company
argued that its payments to the state were in line with memos from the state
Conservation Department that said the company could deduct the reasonable
direct cost of manufacture and transportation.
The state hired two of Alabama's top plaintiff law firms, Beasley Allen and
Cunningham Bounds, to handle the case on a contingency fee: nothing if they
lost and 14 percent of the judgment if they won.

 Dispute With Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A jury ordered Exxon Mobil Corp.
 (XOM) to pay $11.9
billion in damages Friday in the state of Alabama's
 suit over disputed
 natural gas royalties.
The jury awarded $63.6 million in compensatory
 damages and $11.8 billion in
punitive damages, a record in the state.
We felt Exxon thought they were going to get away
 with this, said jury
foreman Joe King, a Montgomery teacher. We wanted
 to send a message that
they were not, and that this corporation can't get
 away with doing wrong.

[RollTideFan] OU band played Yea, Alabama?

2003-11-14 Thread kurt rasmussen
apparently not.

http://www.al.com/sports/huntsvilletimes/jpruett.ssf?/base/sports/1068830204105090.xml

A couple of usually reliable chaps passed along an amusing tidbit
earlier this week, claiming the Oklahoma band played Yea, Alabama'' for
Dennis Franchione's benefit during the Sooners' 77-0 rout of Texas AM
last Saturday.

We tacked a line to that effect on the end of a column about Jeremiah
Castille's appearance Tuesday night at the Huntsville Quarterback Club.
Turns out, it didn't happen that way.

Brian Britt, director of the Pride of Oklahoma'' band, clarified the
situation in an e-mail. Though I received hundreds of calls and e-mails
during the week leading up to our game with Texas AM requesting that
our band play 'Yea, Alabama,' we did not do so,'' Britt wrote.

Rather than condoning unsportsmanlike behavior, he said, the band
refrained.

While many fans would probably be glad if we had played it,'' Britt
said, I am sure that many others would be very disappointed in us for
doing so. We feel that any sort of personal attack on a visiting player
or coach is inappropriate at any athletic contest, and as such, we don't
condone or permit such actions by members of our band individually or
collectively.''

Britt said the Oklahoma band has the utmost respect for Alabama and its
Million Dollar Band,'' that Oklahomans enjoyed their visit to Alabama
in early September, and that the unfortunate manner in which Coach
Franchione left the University of Alabama is not our business.''

He added: We sincerely hope Alabama and its loyal fans will have many
great football seasons in the future. Your football tradition is among
the strongest in the country and you obviously have much to be proud of.

I hope that sets the record straight and that everyone will understand
our decision regarding this issue, even if they choose to disagree.'' [...]
