Athletic director Jeremy Foley will meet with members of the team this afternoon and then announce that Zook and his staff will coach the team for the remainder of the season, Herbstreit reported. The firing comes on the heels of the Gators' 38-31 loss Saturday to Mississippi State, the worst team in the SEC. The Gators are 4-3 this season, 20-13 overall under Zook. His teams haven't had the swagger of those under his predecessor Steve Spurrier, who lost only six home games in 12 years and won a national championship. When asked about his future Sunday, Zook focused on next Saturday. I just have to worry about this next game right now, Zook said. That's all I have any control over. That sounds like fun. I wore a shirt with upside down Longhorns on it into Austin last year for the Texas game. It got me some dirty looks, but I told them that they needed to get over it. In the SEC that's just part of the game. I think if you return the trash talk you get a little more respect. Even at Bama trash talk is part of itjust makes it more fun in my opinion. We have no weakness. We are invincible.*smirk* But seriously...I think that the weakness that sticks out the most to me is our d-line depth. In a slugfest that we typically get in the SEC you need more depth over the season. That could become a problem. WHat was a weakness last year, has become at least a mild strength this year. Last year everyone in the stadium assumed that Matt Jones would run when he had the ball, but he has developed a pretty decent throwing arm to go along with his legs. People have to respect his running ability , but if they cheat up too much he'll burn you with his arm. He's becoming quite a weapon. We'll see how the Cedric Cobbs/Shaud Williams match-up goes. That could be the difference maker right there. I swear to goodness if he starts to break it 80 up the middle I will tackle him myself. :) Or at least attempt to...:) How about ya'll ?
