[RollTideFan] Another Traveling Salesman Joke
A traveling salesman knocks on a door. A little boy of maybe 5 or 6 answers. He has a cigarette in his mouth. a bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and porno film in the other. The salesman says, Hello little boy. Is your Mommy or Daddy home? The little boy responds, What the fuck do you think? ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net

[RollTideFan] Another drug dealer in the making
We still have a couple of football players that can join him because they left early too. Former Alabama star labors in basketball's minor league The Associated Press January 26, 2004 HUNTSVILLE | Rod Grizzard left college early for a shot at NBA stardom and fat paychecks. Instead, the former University of Alabama guard is in his second stint in basketball's minor leagues, working on his defense and displaying the offensive skills that made him a star in the SEC. It's been a learning curve for me, Grizzard told The Decatur Daily. Basketball has been easy for me ever since the age of 5. Now with some bumps in the road you need that from time to time to make you stronger. Grizzard, who left for the NBA after his junior season in 2002, is playing for the Huntsville Flight of the National Basketball Developmental League. He was a second-round selection by the Washington Wizards (39th overall). He was released by the Wizards, then had a short preseason stint with Atlanta before landing with the NBDL's Mobile Revelers last season. Grizzard passed up the chance to possibly earn six figures playing overseas the past two seasons, choosing to play for less than $30,000 in the NBDL and continue pursuing his NBA dreams. The Revelers, now defunct, won the league title but Grizzard averaged only 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in a reserve role. Now, he's back displaying his ability to hit the outside shot and drive to the basket. Grizzard is averaging about 13 points and four rebounds, much improved statistics from last season. He plays defense sometimes, too. I'm defending pretty well -- a lot more than last year, Grizzard said. If I can stay consistent on defense and improve a little more on a couple of things, I'm pretty confident that I'll get a call-up to the NBA. Flight coach Ralph Lewis sees NBA potential for the 6-8 shooting guard. I think that if Rod keeps progressing and he understands that he has to be consistent in his principals defensively and offensively he can definitely play at the next level, Lewis said. Rod plays the two position and most of your scorers are going to be there. You getting 20 is one thing, but the guy you're guarding can't get 20, too. But if his defense comes along and he keeps being aggressive every night, I think he'll have a shot. Grizzard played in the United States Basketball League during the summer and later attended the Detroit Pistons' camp. He's still trying to recapture the glory of his college days, though. My college career was good, putting Alabama back on the map, making it to the (NCAA) Tournament, getting an SEC championship and all the rankings and all that, Grizzard said. That was a good thing for me. Winning the NBDL title last year was a good thing. Things are going pretty well right now. __ RollTideFan - The University of Alabama Athletics Discussion List Welcome to RollTideFan! Wear a cup! [RollTideFan] Another Interesting Post...
...stolen from one of my favorite message boards :) ~~ What many seem to fail to realize about this whole mess is what it is ultimately about. Its about two things money and power. 1) Bama has for over 50 years been one of the most powerful football institutional members of the NCAA, so powerful, in fact, that for many years some at the NCAA may have felt that it would be unwise for their careers to tangle with Bama. Coach Bryant helped many people over the years get started in careers with the NCAA through various means. Coach Bryant was a household name that was arguably the most powerful, both in sports and out, figure in the south over the entirety of his career at Bama. That kind of power makes many friends but also leaves many enemies. Does anyone here believe that the NCAA, UT, AU or anyone else would have tried something like this with Coach Bryant at the helm of the Bama ship? I think not. But the very nature of the golden years of Coach may have helped sow the seeds of envy and retribution that we now face. 2) Alabama as a State is still feeling the reprecussions of the Civil Rights era. Let's face it, there were some very damaging actions, legislation and comments during this time. The University of Alabama was pushed front and center into the minds of Americans and into the textbooks of our schools by Governor Wallace. So many in America have a jaded view of the University as some racist stronghold from the bad old days. When the words slave trading and University of Alabama were put together in various media outlets and on HBO we were doomed. It doesn't matter how unfair the accusation, we were doomed. The NCAA is a political entity (doubt it not) and nothing affects politics in America more than public opinion. 3)Ray Melick, Ben Cook, Kevin Scarbinsky et al have long defended the SEC office and Roy Kramer in this mess with comments like, Why would Roy Kramer risk losing money for the conference by allowing one of its most marketable programs to be put on probation? They show a remarkable lack of understanding of how the SEC works. The SEC has SIGNED television contracts that tie TV money to the conference for years. The SEC has Bowl tie-ins that will be filled whether Alabama is bowl eligible or not. The SEC has a championship game that would be played whether Bama was on probabtion or not. The SEC would send a member to a BCS bowl regardless of the status of the University of Alabama. The SEC stood to lose almost nothing from Bama going on probabtion. On the contrary, other member institutions stood to GAIN a significant amount of money with Bama on Probabtion because Bama would not get their share and the extra money would be split by the rest of the conference. 4) One reason why the media may be reluctant to persue the NCAA like we all think they should is: MONEY. Who owns sports illustrated? AOL/Time Warner. What cable channel shows NCAA football games that is owned by AOL/TW? TBS. What about CBS? ABC? NBC? ESPN? FOX? What would happen to their programming should the NCAA fall under a bad light? What about future negotiations with the NCAA if a network investigates the actions of the NCAA? Who owns CNN? AOL/TW. MSNBC? FOXnews? etc. etc. What about the magazines? Most are afiliated or owned by the large media conglomerates. What about Radio? Newspapers? You get the idea. 5) Gallion is trying to help his clients. If he can help Alabama along the way, so much the better. But, if he gets a great settlement that is satisfactory for his clients then he has done his job. IF the story begins to grow big long hairy legs then it WILL be settled and buried faster than Terry Bowdens black book. Just my two cents ~ ROLL TIDE!! [RollTideFan] another summary
Another very good summary [Follow Ups] [Post Followup] [Paged Messages] [Request Removal] Posted by Tide-One on January 17, 2004 at 15:58:04: The PLAYERS ~~~ Fred Godwynn - Memphis Federal Prosecutor Rich Johanningmeier - The Lead NCAA Investigator Logan Young - Falsely Accused UA Booster Prominent Memphis businessman Lynn Lang - Albert Means Former High School Football Coach FBI Witness Milton Kirk - Albert Means High Former School Football Coach Phillip Fulmer - NCAA Secret Witness, UT Coach Tom Culpepper - NCAA Secret Witness, Former Rivals.com Recruiting Guru at Alabama Karl Schledwitz - Mover and shaker in high circles in Tennessee Gene Marsh - NCAA Compliance Officers for UA Marie Robbins - NCAA Compliance Officers for UA Ivy Williams - Falsely Accused Former UA Coach Ronnie Cottrell - Falsely Accused Former UA Coach Jim Neal - Logan Young's Attorney Former Watergate Attorney Cleo Kirk - Milton Kirk's Older Brother Memphis Council-Man The Story The NCAA's Worst nightmare seems to be coming true. When they slammed Alabama with a two-year bowl ban and placed severe scholarship limitations And stated that Alabama was staring down the barrel of a gun at the death penalty the NCAA thought everybody would just bend over and take it As usual. That Probably would have happened, But Up in Memphis Tennessee The Feds convened a Grand Jury to indict Logan Young accusing the Prominent Memphis businessman of conspiracy, crossing state lines to commit racketeering and arranging bank withdrawals to cover up a crime. This However was there ultimate demise. After more than 2 years Logan Young's attorney's (Jim Neal, the former Watergate prosecutor) finally won A huge victory when the judge Declared that All of The documents, (which the NCAA had argued to keep sealed) used by the NCAA in the Investigation Of Alabama be made available in late December 2003. As a side note the day that the sealed NCAA Documents and tapes had to be turned Over the NCAA sent a letter to the University of Alabama stating that no further sanctions would be forthcoming concerning the Memphis case; Which they had left open since 2001 in case something new came out in the Memphis Case. In all of these papers one dated May 23 2000, Phillip Fulmer Alleges in a sworn Statement as a Secret Witness to The NCAA Lead Investigator Rich Johanningmeier of Numerous NCAA Violations by Mike Dubose, Bear Bryant, Shaun Alexander, Ivy Williams, Ronnie Cottrell and the University of Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina And Georgia. For this Co-operation Tennessee was granted a pass on violations by UT Football And Athletic Department. Did Fulmer have a vendetta to go out and destroy Alabama's Tradition and try to put a death nail in the Alabama Program? Well, you look At the evidence and tell me what you think. NCAA's investigation into Alabama football and the role Fulmer played. 1) In the fall of 1999 Tennessee coaches were quoted as saying Alabama will be out of business in 2 years. Guess what? Milton Kirk started brazenly auctioning Means off in less than 4 months. Does it not make sense that they KNEW what was about to transpire? 2) Phil Fulmer will sneak around and try to dig up dirt on opposing teams. He did it with Alabama. Tommy Gallion has the written evidence and affidavits signed by ex-UT players that he did this. That is a documented FACT. 3) There is NO DOUBT that Lynn Lang (Albert Means Former High School Football Coach FBI Witness) shopped Means. But to who? At least 5 other coaches testified that he had shopped Means to them. Ivy Williams didn't. Ivy Williams testified that he was not presented with the auction. That is because Lynn Lang didn't pitch the idea to him because he knew It would have scared Bama off. 4) Lynn Lang was found with unexplained money That is a documented FACT. He initially never said where it came from This is a Fact as well. HE COULD NEVER ACCOUNT FOR THE $115,000+ in payoffs and/or The Feds couldn't find it, Fact. You can't make that kind of money go away without a trace. The feds know how to track it down or find evidence of it. 5) The US attorney in Memphis, Tennessee filed a 13 count slam dunk indictment. When Fred Godwynn The Memphis Federal Prosecutor did this Cleo Kirk (Milton Kirk's Older Brother Memphis Council-Man) eventually persuaded him that Logan Young was the Key and the Feds gave Lynn Lang and Milton Kirk a CUSHY deal, removing the 13 count slam dunk indictment to a plea bargain (with no Real time served). 5A) Could Karl Schledwitz have paid Lynn Lang to send Albert Means to Alabama? He is a mover and shaker in high circles in Tennessee. He is lawyer. He was involved in a banking scandal (money going where it was not supposd to go) and he had access
