Sir when i changed in layout header and any of the app

Are you running in production mode or development? If in production
mode then you may have to restart the server in order for it to pick
up the new files. If in development mode and changing files has no
effect then the files you are changing are not the ones that are being
used by the server.

If you don't understand what I mean by development and production mode
then you need to start at the beginning and learn how rails works. I
suggest working right through a good tutorial such as
railstutorial.org (which is free to use online) which will show you
the basics of rails.

What does installing a command mean?

Regardless, there's nothing about Ruby or Rails that changes how
you work with files or directories on your system.

[Rails] CentOS 6.5 Mysql 5.5 RoR deploying issue

2014-12-22 Thread Diego Dillenburg Bueno
Hey all,

have any of you ever had some trouble trying to deploy to a CentOS 6.5 with
Mysql 5.5? I'm getting some errors on the database creation and it seems
that I miss the mysql-devel package to build the db, but can't find it
anywhere!

Thanks in advance,

This can happen when using tools to run code directly from your editor;
some of them don't show the output of the command. Try running your code

As to the functionality, an awful lot of what's proposed there sounds like

it seems the gem isn't compiling properly on the system, any one have a

[Rails] sql query

2014-12-22 Thread tom
hi

i have such a model and im not sure how to get the data out:

Task:
- project_id
- name
- timestamp
- value (progress)

now, an insert always insert multiple rows at the same time, but name has
different values and so does 'value'

i need a query which gets all tasks for one or more projects, but only the
last group of names + values in terms of the timestamp (the most recent
group)

im tryin in mysql, aka:
select * from tasks where project == 123 and timestamp = (select max
timestamp from tasks where project = 123)

not sure how to get all projects...and in rails

I'm not sure I exactly understand that, but the easiest way to clarify
(or figure it out yourself) is to write a test.

Start with a fixture or some factory code to generate representative
data. Then write the test that shows exactly your expectation of the
data to be returned. Then write the method that does that :-)

If you're stuck on the last part, you can at least post your example
data and failing test to get better advice.

FWIW,

Hello,

I have this situation.

I m a volunteer on a toy library and I want to write a financial / borrow
app for the toy library.

Now I have two seperate roles : staff member and client.

Staff member can log in and put things into the system.

Client is not allowed to do anything in the system.

Now I try to make it work in a sort of ecommerce site, where the shopping
cart is the place I want to keep track of what the client borrows.

So my staff member logs in, a client comes to the counter to tell that he
wants to borrow a toy-car.

Then the cart of that client must contains the toy-car.

How can I achieve this with sessions or another way ?

2014-12-22 Thread Cat Wild

 %= stylesheet_link_tag 'application', media: 'all',
'data-turbolinks-track' = false %

There seems to be no problem in my code but I do not know why

Re: [Rails] double authocetation : how can I do it the best ?

2014-12-22 Thread Vivek Sampara
Hi ,

Instead of implementing it from scratch try to include any ror ecommerce
gems and let it handle the cart and sessions. i personally like the
simplicity of piggybak https://github.com/piggybak/piggybak .

Cheers
