[SA-list] SA crash

2011-02-11 Thread Osta Guph
I recently updated to build 6.2.2279 and added the com check so that I
could monitor one eventlog. After a couple tweaks all was good, but
several times now SA has freaked out and my phone goes bonkers because
it is falsely reporting that everything is down. I only have about 90
entries (all ping) and 2 eventlog checks on the same server (same
log).
I thought that it might be the event log entries, so I turned them
off, but it crashed again twice tonight.
When it died I tried to click on one of the eventlog entries I got the error:
> Wrong COM called! (comEventlog.EventlogCom)
>
> (0)

and when I clicked on setup I got:

run time error '339':

component 'msflxgrd.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly
registered. a file is missing or invalid

Responding OK to the above error, SA closed and after relaunched it
started to report everything was ok again.

Please help as my boss is ready to kill me b/c he gets the same 90 texts.

I could create one entry and make everything dependent on it, but that
doesn't really solve the problem.

Thanks for any insight.

btw, I have had not one single problem prior to the update and
addition of the external com checks. I was checking the 90 hosts
every 1 minute (2 on the weekends). I eased up to 3 and 4 minutes but
that didn't make a difference.

[SA-list] Unable to relay mail to 127.0.0.1 ?

2011-02-11 Thread Ray Van Dolson
Using SA 6.2.x, we are attempting to use an SMTP server on the
local host rather than an external one. We set the SMTP server to
127.0.01 and/or localhost, but this doesn't appear to work.

SA either falls back to relaying directly or gives a cryptic error
message in the log about unable to bind to an address...

Does this have something to do with the goofiness in Windows where its
127.0.0.1 address isn't a physical interface?

Thanks,
Ray

saWeb is the beta part of SA and doesn't need extra setup.

saWeb gives you the options you described before.

The icon is indeed missing, however that should be "solved" next week :-)

SaWeb is not an integral part of Salive and means additional set up. Also it
is certainly not as responsive/user friendly as the actual salive interface.
I would personally consider it a work around not a permanent state of affairs.
I do use Saweb but in limited circumstances when I have other issues with
getting on my server.

Seeing the icon is helpful but being able to stop checking and put checks into
maintenance is really the primary interaction I have ongoing. It would be
feasible to stop the service and start the app when adding checks but to just
put a check into maintenance it should be an issue.

Having the icon in order to see the status is that "enough" to start with, or
would you need a full interaction (meaning that you're able to get the full
interface and make changes?)

Furthermore on both my Windows XP and my Server 2008 machine when run as a

Windows 2008.
We would like to get some additional info on this.
We did some testing and it seems to run as service (and be able to do checks too
:-))
There are indeed some issues with for example the GROUPS that aren't
loaded/saved correctly due to the location of the GROUPS.GRP file.

2011-02-11 Thread Laatz, Anthony
Can you create a web interface that we can make changes on? There’s
already a web server for status. That would eliminate the need for desktop
interaction with the service, granted if that option was available you would
need to secure it with a username and password.

Thank you,
