RE: SAM pic converter ?
> Thanks, I'll download all the issues of Fred I can find ... I don't think the SAM->BMP converter is on any of the FRED's on NVG. There was an IFF converter by Integrated Logic that worked OK - although I always used to use save the IFF's as Neochrome from the miggy and use the ST converter. I have a disc with the BMP and the ST converter on that I can DSK and send your way if that will be helpful. Dan. Work: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Shirk: [EMAIL PROTECTED] VVeb: http://www.podboy.demon.co.uk/
Spotted on c.s.s - Sam for sale
For anyone interested in buying a second-hand Sam, I saw this advert in the comp.sys.sinclair newsgroup: >From: "DJ" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Newsgroups: comp.sys.sinclair >Subject: Sam Coupe and Box of Disk for Auction on EBAY > >I was told that this would be a good place to mention that for anyone who is >interested - Sam Coupe and Box of Disk for Auction on EBAY > >http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=292708347 Current bid is about 100 UKP. Delivery only in the UK, it seems. Re: SAM pic converter ?
Perhaps I should make my customary mention of ppmtosam.c and samtoppm.c in http://users.comlab.ox.ac.uk/ian.collier/Misc/ . Works on Unix - other systems may vary (and you need something to convert your image into PPM format). imc

Andrew Collier wrote: > > [...] > PS - MacBuster, any news after Forever2e3? Ghm... The man who bring Sam to party said that organizers weren't able to demonstrate Sam Coupe entries on party =( They even did not tried to attach Sam to check the entries. I still waiting for what organizers will say about this strange thing. But I know there were more than two entires (yours and mine), some people from Poland and Czech bring their demos too. I do not understand organizers why say about collecting entries for compo, asking man who lives for around 600km from party place to bring machine to the party and to do show it ? =(
Re: SAM pic converter ?
Thanks Dan, that would be nice if you could email that dsk to me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). I think I have found a ILBM converter program on a Fred disk, I haven't tried it yet. It looks complicated. Thanks everyone for all the help... What about WinCoupe?
Another question, I've seen mention of WinCoupe... Does it exist and where can it be found? Frans van Egmond
Re: Spotted on c.s.s - Sam for sale
Then what should they sell for? For people outside of the UK (no carboot sales) it's just about the only way to buy them... I've bought 3 upto now and none of them was below 100Ukp... I wish they were... Frans Matthew Craven wrote: > > Current bid is about 100 UKP. Delivery only in the UK, it seems. > > That is a rip-off!
Re: Spotted on c.s.s - Sam for sale
I just thought that something that cost 200-250 pounds should sell for less than about 1/2 its value. > Then what should they sell for? > For people outside of the UK (no carboot sales) it's just about the > only way to buy them... But have you seen what Z80's fetch? And Z80s also seem to be in considerably better supply, at the moment. I'm hardly involved in this sale at all - I'm not selling it, nor am I buying it. But it seems to me that the item is worth whatever someone's willing to pay for it, and someone has indeed bid at that price. Just saying "that's expensive" is not a useful comment unless you can actually point to a cheaper source. Re: Spotted on c.s.s - Sam for sale
All this about £100 for a SAM being a rip-off is a bit daft IMO. Fully working SAMs are becoming more rare, and I'm beginning to see them in a similar way to how people might look at vintage cars. I'd say people who sell them cheap aren't really doing themselves any favours. Just my opinion. Dave

Re: What about WinCoupe?
Yes, WinCoupe does exist. Si Owen is the man responsible - I have passed your message on to him. WinCoupe has not (as far as I'm aware) been 'officially released' yet and I believe Si will only release WinCoupe when he's prepared to release the source code (because WinCoupe is to be covered by some sort of GPL-style licence) I expect if you search the archives of this mailing list you will find some mention of WinCoupe and perhaps links to download an earlier version of it. I will shortly be releasing the source code to my SAASound sound emulation library (as used by SAAEmu 0.60 and newer, and also WinCoupe) but I don't know anything about the whole public-domain/GPL/whatever stuff. If someone would like to (discretely) point me in the correct direction (or simply tell me what I must do / must not do to ensure that the source is freely distributable whilst maintaining some kind of 'protection' over SAASound - in that I will not allow other people to release versions of SAASound without my permission and say-so over the new code unless I decide to change my mind over this in the future or unless it is made clear that the version of SAASound created by this third party has nothing to do with me - and that all versions of SAASound (especially such versions created without my consent) contain the names and (optionally) contact addresses (email or otherwise) of all people involved and that all versions of SaaSound contain all the source code) then that would be great. I'm no lawyer but I'd still like to maintain control over SAASound - Original Message - From: "Frans van Egmond" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Monday, March 27, 2000 1:12 PM Subject: What about WinCoupe? > Another question, I've seen mention of WinCoupe... > Does it exist and where can it be found? > > > Frans van Egmond > > >

You could take a look at some of the other licenses around (SCSL, trolltech, X, BSD etc.) and see which is closest, or just go with BSD or something. I'd favour the latter, but then I would. :-) -- Paul "Morpheus: There is a difference between knowing the RFC and following the RFC" - Jeff Gostin in a.s.r.
