As far as I can determine there is no support for NIC's that use the forcedeth.ko module. Is it really dracut? Or anaconda? Pretty sure it's dracut, the process halts at a dracut shell and I saw no indication that anaconda ever got started. I think my best plan is to scrounge around for a spare NIC, install the system with it and call it finished. -- Stephen Berg Systems Administrator NRL Code: 7320 Office: 228-688-5738 stephen.berg@nrlssc.navy.mil
Anaconda version
Been doing a few pxeboot network installs of SL7 and have noticed that the anaconda it's using says it's a PRE-RELEASE/TESTING version. It shows up as Anaconda 19.31.79-1 For SL7 (pre-release). Is this just a labeling issue with the anaconda that comes up or something I should be more worried about? Things are working just fine, I have a good kickstart set up and everything seems fine. But whenever I see that it makes me wonder. I've checked and the pxeboot stuff I'm using is right off the SL7 Everything DVD. -- Stephen Berg Systems Administrator NRL Code: 7320 Office: 228-688-5738 stephen.berg@nrlssc.navy.mil

I've looked at a few and it's a bit confusing on the support for PXE booting using those. Not real confident about it so it seems like a much better idea to disable the onboard NIC, install an add-on NIC that does have kernel support and press forward. -- Stephen Berg Systems Administrator NRL Code: 7320 Office: 228-688-5738 stephen.berg@nrlssc.navy.mil

Question: Customizing SL 7
The SL web site has a document Customize SL For Your Site. This page gives instructions for customizing SL 6, using revisor. Can I follow a similar process to customize SL 7, or do I need a different approach? I looked into revisor briefly, and it appears that there has not been much development on it in the last two years, so I'm not sure if that means revisor is being replaced with something else, or if it has simply reached maturity and needs no further development. Printer driver for Samsung CLP-415-NW on SL7
Hi I have been using a Samsung colour printer CLP-415-NW on SL6 using the recommended CLP-310 series driver with good results. On SL7, the driver recommended (the only one shown) is CLP-410 series, but this only prints in black and white. Has anyone found a colour version that will work on SL7? RE: Printer driver for Samsung CLP-415-NW on SL7
Further investigation shows that the driver installed is a generic postscript driver and the Samsung list does not contain any CLP drivers. Well I found UnifiedLinuxDriver-4.00.39.tar.gz and installed it with compat-libtiff3. Now I can't print in colour.
