Need specific LaTeX utiliities for EL7

2016-06-14 Thread Yasha Karant
I am looking for EL & RPMs of specific LaTeX utilities compatible with
the TeX/LaTeX base/packages installed from the SL7 install DVD:

XeLaTeX

Biber

Texindy

Makeglossaries

Asymptote

I have found these as installable images for other distros, including
some Fedora. If these packages are available by some other mechanism
such that the SL7 Latex system can download, compile, insert, etc., any
of these, advice and instructions would be most appreciated.

As a fast LaTeX GUI front end, I use Texstudio that has a X86-64 CentOS
7 RPM available at the Texstudio Sourceforge site and that installs and
runs fine under SL 7. The only WYSIWYG I have found is BaKoMaTeX that
is licensed for fee (with actual pricing in Euros). Is there any
licensed-for-free LaTeX WYSIWYG (not LyX that produces LaTeX but
internally is not LaTeX)? Thus far, I have not found such a WYSIWYG.

'lyx' uses latex, but manually editting to 'touch up' its
output is a PITA. In EPEL

TeXmacs is GPL'ed

  http://www.texmacs.org/

Personally, I use "What I Type Is Very Soon What I See":

  emacs file.tex &
  atril file.pdf &
  latexmk -pvc -pdf file.tex

EPEL includs Kile
http://kile.sourceforge.net/
(possibly an abbreviation of KDE Integrated LaTeX Environment).

I have Kile, LyX, Texstudio, etc., and cannot afford BaKoMaTeX .
However, that was not the primary thrust of my enquiry. I am looking
for specific LaTeX utilities in a SL7 or compatible port (RPM preferred,
but LaTeX "automagic" utility installation methods will suffice), the
list being:

XeLaTeX

Biber

Texindy

Makeglossaries

Asymptote

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Start by checking https://rpm.pbone.net, so you can search by package
names, or included files, and restrict your search to compatible
releaes. If they're commercial, good luck. If they're open source,
they may be available on Fedora and feasible to backport.
