Re: [SaF] Secure copy

2001-05-31 Thread JTapper

Brian,

Here is a link to a number of Windows ssh programs.
Putty is a great SSH client for Windows, and WinSCP is excellent, it's an
explorer type application that uses SCP to transfer files, very easy to use.

http://www.openssh.com/windows.html

good luck.

Re: [SaF] Sites for Free Advice for Computer

2001-05-31 Thread Leslie S Gottlieb

Two e-mail lists to recommend here:

PC-ASK. Low volume list, but helpful.

send e-mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe pc-ask in
the message body.

Win95-L, Win98-L, WinNT-L: (The WinNT list covers Windows 2K, and the
Win98-L list covers WindowsME)

send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe (listname)
in
the message body.

I've been a member of the Win95/Win98 list for many years and there are
some VERY smart people there. I learned a lot about Windows there.

Using shareware site onsite searches and the keywords "version control"
will gain you a pretty good listing. Softcrawler can be used to hit
several shareware sites at once:

http://www.data-wizard.de/SoftCrawler/index.php3

I also used Google for this purpose and the first results page would
provide you several sources for VC software:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=version+control

Click to page two on those Google results and we find a freeware VC
product:

FreeVCS:

http://www.thensle.de/index.htm

Of course, the big shareware products seem to be CVS, Reliable and QVCS:

http://cvshome.org/

http://www.relisoft.com/

http://www.qumasoft.com/

~~~
As to your original question, the following page might give you the
answer you seek...sort of:
Simple Internet Version Control Protocol
http://www.ots.utexas.edu/sivc/
This FAQ of sorts gives a listing of products conforming to this SIVC.
~~~

Lastly, I would suggest you drop by this About.com page:

"Version Control Systems"

http://internet.about.com/industry/internet/library/weekly/2000/
aa050200a.htm

Note: The above URL is actually one continuous line and should be
entered into your browser's address box as one line.

Ah...wait...I found another freeware at Acacia Consulting Services:

VCSLite

[SaF] Meta tags.

2001-05-31 Thread Emilio Guia

Dear seekers:

I'm in doubt about the meta tags. Where is the best or right place to put
them in a web page. I know that is between "head - head", but where in the
page. It does not matter the place?. I have read several issues about meta
tags but never says where I must to place them. Please, can anyone help me?
Thanks to all of you, specially to our Alan, the best Administrator of the
