Yes, the dealership said they had to do so in order to get the engine
out. Is that not true? From what I have been hearing from others, it was
not necessary.

Listed on E-Bay is my 87 GLHS, It needs a head gasket. It will run, good
tires fair interior about 53000 miles all original right down to the
exaust system. known problems: curb hit on the left front damaged the koni
and shock tower. All damaged is limited to that area, car drives ok and
doors shut really nice so it should be an easy fix, I've driven it for
7,000 miles this way. Previous owner removed the AC compressor. There is
one small spot of rust behind the rear wheel well on the drivers side.
Second gear sincro is a little rough.

Re: SD New Shelby Registry address

2005-05-24 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
I just want to let everyone know this is not just a registry site it's going
to have more information than just that. The registration part is just a
start. If the original site is up and running like we are told it's going to
be done. Use that if you choose. I am not trying to take away from that
site. I am just adding more dodge shelby information. If people want to use
my site they can. I don't want this to be an all out slander discussion. The
original site is well made and put together. I mainly put the subject line
together like I did to get attention. I guess that I should have choose my
words a little bit better. I wanted to get peoples input of what information
I have placed is incorrect, of if anyone else wanted to add to it. I don't
intend on this being the #1 Dodge Shelby site on the internet, but a good
one at that. The web site address is
http://www.soulserpentmedia.com/DodgeShelby.html I didn't choose a website
name of DodgeShelbyRegistry dot what ever, because that would only be a
small percentage true. I am not wanting money to build the site. I am just
hopping that people will help me from time to time with information. Check
the site out from time to time. If you see any incorrect information on
there, please let me know. I want the site as correct as possible. Say for
example a new person buys a Dodge Shelby, and wants to look some information
about his/her automobile. I would like to think they can come across my site
and get 100% correct information. I started to put on the links for each
year the History Recalls, I am not done with it yet, but it should be
completed by the end of the day 05/24/05. I like this mailing list it is
full of helpful information, and that is why I decided to search for
everyone's help. I will not go to other sites and take information of the
registry and put it on mine. It has to be a 100% volunteer basis from each
one of the owners. The ones that I have listed on the site have been sent to
me by the owner themselves. I do thank everyone so far for there help is
that part of the site. What I am needing is constructive criticism on what
would be nice to add. I have a pad and a pen ready to right down your ideas
to help make my site more successful. I believe that a Dodge Shelby
automobile is a very rare and beautiful car. Let's show the world what we
have to show. Also, I believe in my opinion we should try to help support
the original owner of the http://www.shelbyregistry.com/ site due to the
fact that it is well built. My site will never take the place of that one.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am sure there are going to be more
coming my way. 'LOL.

Also I am needing anyone that wants to add their car to the list I would
be more than happy to add it. Just send me a few things so I can get it
orginized.

1.) If it is a numbered car, what number it is.
2.) Location of the Car (etc. City State).
3.) Pictures of the car are very welcome.
4.) A breif history of the car while you have had it.
5.) If you are selling your car and want to list it on my site I will do

This site is going to have lots of information that will make you come and

Re: SD Re: Electrical Problem...... [Brian R. Downard Sr. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2005-04-10 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
I tested all of the lights in the back and I went as far as to get brand new
lights in the back. So all the rear tail lights and break lights are brand
new. Now that is narrowing down to the light switch and the actual light
itself in the dash. What am I looking for at the light switch part. There
are so many wires down there. I don't know where to begin. Could someone
point me in the right direction?

If it's not your headlight switch, check for a blown taillight bulb.
It's a safety feature, that tells you you have no taillights.
At least it was on my 87 Shelby Z
Hope this helps

Hello everyone. It's me again. I have the problem with my 87 GLHS. The
Dash
lights are out. I don't know why. I checked all of the fuses and they are
just fine. Can someone help me on what else I need to do?

SD Summer Time is Coming

2005-04-04 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
Now that summer time is just around the corner. I am going to be able to
work on my 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S #324. I want this car to be a
show car. I don't think that it will be ready for show this year, but I want
to start working on it for next year. The reason that I am sending this to
the mailing list is to find out where I can find every single part available
for my car. If there is anyone on here that would know, which I am sure that
there is. For example the gray part that goes around the automobile. Most of
them have been torn or worn off the 1987 dodge Shelby chargers. I want to
put mine back if I can find one at a decent price, but how decent is decent
when it comes to my baby. HAHAHA' There are so many things that I want to do
to the car. I just don't know where to start. I would say that the car is
about 80% original. That is good for a 1987 automobile. Well, I can go on
and on about the car, but I know that a lot of people out there know what I
mean when I say I love my GLH-S.

So, if there are some really good parts places that I can go and look
online. Please people clue me in that would be great. Thanks.

Sincerely;

SD Winter is almost over.

2005-03-05 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
Hey everyone. Here in Iowa, winter is almost over we had some nice weather
and I decided to take my 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S out for a spin. Man
oh man, did I miss driving that car. I had it stored in the garage for the
winter. Driving the automobile, reminds me exactly why I bought the car in
the first place. It makes people look, especially the cops. This year I am
going to be giving the ol' #324 a good tune up and try to find all the
original items for the car. I was hoping that someone would know where I
could get an original stereo that went into the car when it was made. What
was the model number or the part number? Also I need to know where I can
find the side stripping that goes around the outside trim of the car? It's
not a decal. It's like the original door ding stripping, but for design
shelby made this go all around the car. Also the cars engine makes the car
vibrate quite a bit. how do I go about fixing that. Don't get me wrong the
car runs fine... just when I am driving down the road and look in the rear
view mirror and I can't tell what kind of vehicle is behind me because the
mirror is shaking so much. How do I fix that if anyone has any clues. Also
the dash lights don't work, does anyone have any suggestions... I know alot
of it is probably very simple, but I don't have anyone around to teach me
these things. I am trying to learn on my own, but not wanting to screw up
the car. That is why I am asking the years of experience on the mailing list
to help me out.

Thanks;

SD 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S?

2004-10-24 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
I have a question about the fault codes... How do you read them. I
understand you go on-off-on-off-on and then the powerloss light will give
you a series of blinks. I could write them down, but how do you understand
them?

To me it's like taking numbers and converting them into english so I can
understand it. The numbers resembles to me the amount of times the powerloss
light blinks, and I would like to convert it into english so I know what my
cars problem is.

Can someone help me out here thanks;

SD My 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S ?'s

2004-09-17 Thread Brian R. Downard Sr.
Hello everyone... I have not sent any messages on this list for quite some
time. But, since I am going to be working on my charger, I don't really have
much problems with the automobile at this time, but I am going to restore the
automobile to 100% new or at least try to. Now that is why it brings me to the
list. I am wanting to know if there are some people here that are willing to
help me. My charger has got an awesome body, except for some dings in it that
I will worry about later. Right now I am worried about the most important
part. The electrical system. Is there anyone out there willing to sell or know
where I can get an original 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S Radio?

I had a heck of a time with the alternator. That is a pain putting in. The
newest things that I have put into this automobile is alternator, battery,
and battery connectors. From there I am fully going to work on the electrical
system.

Also I was wanting to know where I can find a registry that I can post my
Shelby that will work. I tried to post it to http://www.shelbyglhs.com several
times without gaining any ground. If someone could help me that would be
great. Also, if someone is willing or wanting to chat via AIM (Aol Instant
Messenger) my sign on is BDownardDSM. I have added several people on my AIM
list, but haven't chatted with anyone, because I don't know them. I am on
Cable modem so I am usually always online.

I am wanting to know if there is anyone in the Iowa area that has a Dodge
Shelby and would know a good place to get parts for my charger. I plan on
doing a complete restoration of the engine as well.

Well, I know that I am just jabbering in this 1st edition of my Email, but
once I start talking to more of you, I am sure that there will be more to
come.

Sincerly;
Brian R. Downard Sr.
