SD Re: direction change

2006-04-04 Thread Dennis and Sherry

Marc:
Why not sell the engine as a whole?
You could just run manifold pressure direct to the wastegate actuator to
give you about 7 pounds boost for street driving.
This should improve reliability and reduce ticket potential while
allowing the fun settings for race days.
If you swap engines the trans will need to be changed as well since the
bolt pattern is different.
Or even pick up a DD and keep the Spirit as is. (I have a decent 3.0
mini FS if interested)

Also I noticed you list PT Cruiser lifters. What is up with that?
Is there something better about the PT lifters? Are they a direct
substitution?

Subject: SD direction change

Well guys, I think I'm going to be changing the direction of the Spirit -
but not in a way most of you will like. It's been too expensive and
turned the car into a fast (and fun) car that is not reliable. So, I'm
going to partially part out the Spirit. Partially in that I'm going to
sell off all the good engine parts and replace the 2.5 with a 3.0 V-6.
OK, now that you're done groaning, there are actually a lot of good
reasons to do this. I can't afford to get busted blowing off some shmuck
in a Beemer, ricer, etc. or passing someone on the freeway and shooting
from 70 to 105 in the process. I figure I should be able to sell off all
the hot rod parts and pay for the conversion - or at least come pretty
close and be able to actually start driving my own car again. So, if
anyone is interested in the following items, let me know: (all parts have
about 6,000 miles since the rebuild) Turbonetics Super 60 with upgraded
(when they re-built it) center section, TU 3 swing valve, TU braided oil
and water lines The TU 3 bar 2 stage cal with the MSD 3 bar MAP sensor
(15 PSI on low boost and 20 PSI high boost) ported G head with +1mm
stainless valves, PT lifters, new roller rockers and regular round tooth
roller cam balanced crank, rods (polished beams, ARP wavelock bolts) and
Mahle pistons - +.75mm over I think - I'll have to measure when I pull it
apart block - bored to match pistons as above, balance shafts removed -
oil pan included. 2 piece intake with +20 injectors and 52 mm throttle
body The engine is still assembled, but we will have more rain this
weekend, so I'm going to spend Sunday pulling it apart. Anyone who is
seriously interested, please e-mail me with an offer on whatever parts
you want. Any details of what has been done to the car can be found at

Subject: SD 1990-95 Tranny Mounts

I have a new process that I can take advantage of, to take new stock style
rubber tranny mounts and fill the gap with real mount style polyurethane,
not the windsheild stuff. Usually you need to heat/bake the items, this
would not be good for the rubber part. As you may know, in the past I have
made the early tranny mounts from scratchlazer cutting the steel,
making molds for the two pieces of polyurethane, etc. I am not doing this
for the late mount. BUT, I am willing to do this poly/rubber mount.
IF you are interested in this please let me know. As in, yes I would buy
this if you make it. The price is very reasonable. $43 each.

Please give me some input.

Thank You,

SD Re: CS wheel centers

2005-07-19 Thread Dennis and Sherry

Do they have adhesive on the back so they could be stuck to wheel center
caps?
It looks like the upper right and lower left of the C hangs out beyond
the edge of the circle.
Can the CS be made to fit inside the circle?
What is the outside diameter of the circle?
Is the target price $15 each so that would be $60 for a set of four or
is there a beak for a set of four?

My friend made some metal emblems for his car club and made a shelby one for
me to send to the list. its etched metal filled with resin and covered with
polyurethane they are very nice quality and are durable. I think they would
look good on our shelby dodge cars. Let me know what you guys think. Or if
you have other designs in mind. I can get them made for 15 bucks each but I
would need a minimum of 25 orders to break even on costs. I think they would
look real good as a center cap for some pizza whees or centurions. And does
anyone know if im breaking some trademark laws by making these. I figure im
not since there are shelby decals made by other members. but just want to be

I have a built A-413 trans. here for sale. It was built by a buddy of mine
who is a tranny tech for Dodge. It was installed in an 88 Shadow 2.2 Turbo
I that we converted to Turbo II and run for about 2,000 miles at which
point it was removed because he decided he wanted to go back to stick. (A555)

So, now this is up for sale. It's got a new Mopar converter in it and it
had the Mopar Performance shift kit installed. New seals, bands,
etc.. all new Mopar parts inside when replaced 2,000 miles ago. Shifts
great, no problems that I had seen whatsoever.

It has some sort of adjustable line pressure gadget on it. I will include
that with the trans.

I have it palletized and ready to ship.
Email me with an offer. Listing it here first. If no takers it goes on Ebay.

SD stability

2004-12-04 Thread Dennis and Sherry
Marc:
Make shure you have enough toe in.
Check to be sure the front wheel bearings are tight.
Dennis L. Cote
From: Marc Medina [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: SD stability at speed
Well, my engine swap is done now, it's broken in, the suspension is
(almost)
completely re-built (still want to get the polybushings for the rear axle),
but the car just is not stable like I feel it should be. I know that the
front
struts are not able to keep up with the MP Autocross springs (it's kinda
bouncy), but the directional stability just isn't there. I have swapped in
cast control arms from a later model AA body with poly bushings and new
ball
joints, MP struts and Autocross springs, a Quickor 1 1/4 end link style
sway
bar, a new quick ratio rack with new tie rod ends, Formula GP rear
shocks and
MP Autocross rear springs. You can see from the pics on my site how much
lower
it sits compared to stock.
I had it aligned recently and it came out with -.2 degrees of camber in
front
(-.5 in the rear) and 2.9 (left) and 2.4 (right) degrees of positive
camber.
The toe is slightly negative, but I don't remember the number.
Problem is the car just seems to want to hunt at just about any speed.
Now
that I can shoot from 70 to 110 mpg with almost no effort (and in a very
short
space) I've found that even at 100, I'm constantly correcting to keep
the car
going straight. Minor corrections, but just not how I thought (or think) it
should drive.
I'm wondering what the rest of you are doing suspension wise to make the
cars
more stable.
Thanks,
Marc Medina

SD dual engines

2004-10-28 Thread Dennis and Sherry
If one engine had a bit more or less power than the other there would
not be any problem.
If one engine had no power and the other had the full 150-175 hp you
would just have a FWD or RWD car rather than AWD.
The only thing that would seem really needed would be a gentle rev
limiter (especially for the front) and full reverse manual valve bodies
cable controlled from one shifter.
You would need an electric fluid pump for the trans. on the end that you
want to shut down and a way to disconnect it from the shifter so it
could be placed in neutral.
I would expect a bit of drag from spinning the driveline on the shut
down end, but I doubt that would be even 4-5 horsepower.

Dennis L. Cote
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: SD dual engine handling
Just thinking out loud here but wouldn't a dual engine car need to be
set up perfectly to handle well? What I mean is, you may need to somehow
link the two outputs together so that the transmission of power is equal
to the front and rear. If the rear is pushing slightly harder in a turn
than the front it would spin out.
Think about a motorcycle with the front brake on slightly and full
throttle in a turn.

Also on a similar topic someone mentioned running one engine off in
neutral. I don't claim to fully understand how auto transmissions work
but isn't it hard on them to move at high speed with the engine off?
When I drove a tow truck we had to pick up the drive wheels. I think it
has something to do with the auto transmission's pump being driven by
the engine.
