Hi, Stephen,
thank you for your reply. Only a few comments still:

 Hi, Guenther,

First, these micrographs were taken at 100,000x for comparative purposes.
But we have pics also at 480,000x (the limit of our machine). There is also
an optical scope with 8x objective lenses that further magnifies the image
on the plate, so theoretically we can see 3,840,000x. But resolution is
super difficult since the additional range is an image of an image (like a
 copy of a copy). However

The resolution of a microscope is limited, roughly spoken, by the
wavelength of the light. (xmin=1.22xlambda/(nxsin(alpha/2); with
xmin=minimal distance, lambda=wavelength, n=refractive index between
object and lens, alpha=opening angle of the light cone between object
and lens).
For an optical microscope this is say 500nm. Magnification by a factor
of 1000 expand 500 nm objects to 0.5mm. Even if you magnify further you
can't reveal details of this image. They are not present.

You're right, the samples are dried first, ie. the water is evaporated
because the vacuum in the scope must be at least atmosphere x 10 to the -6.

The solution of this problem is probably the TEM with frozen objects,
which was mentioned by James Osbourne, Holmes in this thread. I am not
an expert on that.

2000-06-08 Thread Dave Perkins
Thank you for posting this. Here FYI is what I sent:

As a constituent, I ask that you please support the Thomas Navarro FDA
Patient Rights Act (HR 3677). This legislation gives patients, rather than
the Food and Drug Administration, the power to choose the method of medical
treatment.

The Act ensures that patients can choose their treatment, with full
disclosure of treatment options from the FDA, and removes the FDA's ability
to block access to treatments. The Act also assures that scientific research
can advance based on safety and efficacy.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of Thomas Navarro and his
family, whom this legislation is named for. The Navarros, and millions of
other Americans facing serious medical challenges, MUST have the freedom to
choose the medical treatment they deem best.

After surviving 3 years of cutting edge , FDA approved, traditional Cancer
treatments (including a Stem Cell Transplant) I was told in June 1999 There
is nothing else we can do for you.
I have been treating myself since then and have survived only because I am
using some proven effective alternative methods that would cost most
Doctors thier licenses according to the AMA
and enforced by the FDA.

SOMEONE WHO IS DYING (AND THIER GUARDIANS) SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE
WHAT THEY HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND TO ALLOW OTHERS TO SURVIVE!!!

I hope you never find yourself or any of your loved ones in this situation

By Joie Munda and Ken Hulme
 May 4, 2000

-- EXCLUSIVE -- A young boy fights for his life from an aggressive form of
brain cancer. Has the FDA become his worst enemy?

People continue to protest over Elian Gonzales. Why is it that no one is
 fighting over Thomas Navarro?

Thomas is the 4-year-old son of Arizona parents Jim and Donna Navarro. He
has
medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Recently doctors
operated on the young boy to remove a golf ball size tumor. Without
 additional treatment, Thomas will die.

What would you do if you were Thomas' parents? Worse still, what you do if
your child were suddenly struck with this fatal form of brain cancer?

As his young life hangs in the balance, vital questions have emerged for
Thomas' parents, and by implication for the nation:

 1. Which cancer treatments are best:

The prescribed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) treatment of radiation
and
chemotherapy, with their dramatic and debilitating side effects?
Or an experimental treatments (approved in FDA trials) with an high
success
rates and no known side effects?
 2. Who has the right to decide which treatment is best for this 4 year
old-or
any child with medical options: the parents and their doctor, or the
 government?

 3. Is the FDA always right in its policies and practices?

 The Recommended Treatment

When Thomas was diagnosed with brain cancer in September of 1999, not
surprisingly, his parents were devastated. But within days, surgeons had
successfully removed the cancerous growth. As a follow-up, they
recommended
an aggressive cocktail of radiation and chemotherapy, a course typical for
 this type of cancer.

Medulloblastoma takes just 45 weeks to grow a second tumor. If the first
one
has been removed, the second one is fatal unless the patient undergoes
this
type of salvage therapy, as one study calls radiation treatment in
children
 Thomas' age.

Initially, Jim was willing to trust doctors with the next step in his
child's
care. But, he soon became skeptical when no one would talk to him about
what
Thomas' condition would be like after chemotherapy and radiation. And
doctors
were not willing to show the Navarros any survival reports of
 medulloblastoma.

That's when the Navarros learned some shocking news!

Every patient, which doctors have treated with radiation and chemo at his
son's age, was 'either crippled or dead,' says Donna Navarro.

When Jim wanted to know the ingredients of the chemotherapy, the doctor
said,
You don't need to know. That's when, Our first red flag went up, says
 Jim.

Later, Jim was assured by the radiologist that the side effects would be
manageable. He had listed skin redness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and
loose
stools and had me sign it, says Jim. The doctor leaves the room. About 10
minutes later he comes back and says, Oh, Dad, by the

CSHomeopathy and HVAC CS

2000-06-08 Thread ROGALTMAN
I'm wondering if I haven't stumbled onto a homeopathic (see portion of
article cut and pasted below) boost for my HVAC CS. In light of the results
for BYU's in vitro kill titer of ~5 ppm using Silver Solution CS, it is
surprising that the 1 ppm I'm currently using is so effective.

Homeopathy Explained?

Validation of the dilution process came in a
roundabout way, thanks to research by Shui Yin Lo, a
former visiting associate professor in the chemistry
department at California Institute of Technology.

Lo was performing experiments on how to improve car
engine efficiency when he made the discovery.

Lo, who now is the director of research and
development at American Technologies Group found that
water molecules, which are random in their normal
state, begin to form a cluster when a substance is
added to water and the water is vigorously shaken –
the exact process homeopaths use to create their
medicine.

Lo said every substance exerts its own unique
influence on the water, so each cluster shape and
configuration is unique to the substance added.

With each dilution and shaking, the clusters grow
bigger and stronger. This water, which homeopaths call
potentized, is considered structured water,
because the water molecules have taken on a shape
influenced by the original substance.

The clusters start to assume a form that mimics the
structure of the original substance itself. So even
though the chemical can no longer be detected, its
image is there, taken on by the water molecules.

If these clusters were unique to the original solute,
and the observations are true that they can perpetuate
themselves the more they are diluted or shaken, then
the original material becomes irrelevant, Gray said.

The US Mint began putting notches on the edges of coins containing
gold and silver to discourage holders from shaving off small
 quantities
of the precious metals. Dimes, quarters and half dollars are
 notched
because they used to contain silver. Pennies and nickels aren't
notched because the metals they contain are not valuable enough to

Men's clothes have buttons on the right while women's clothes have
  buttons on the left?
When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn
primarily by the rich. Because wealthy women were dressed by
 maids,
dressmakers put the buttons on the maid's right. Since most people

are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through

X's at the end of a letter signify kisses?
In the Middle Ages, when many people were unable to read or write,
Documents were often signed using an X. Kissing the X represented

People clink their glasses before drinking a toast?
It used to be common for someone to try to kill an enemy by
offering him a poisoned drink. To prove to a guest that a drink
was safe, it became customary for a guest to pour a small
amount of his drink into the glass of the host. Both men would
drink it simultaneously. When a guest trusted his host, he would
then touch - or clink - the host's glass with his own.

People in the public eye are said to be in the limelight?
Invented in 1825, limelight was used in lighthouses and stage

This comes from the French word m'aidez - meaning help me - and

Types of clouds are numbered according to the altitudes they
attain, with nine being the highest cloud If someone is said to be
on cloud nine, that person is floating well above worldly cares.

Zero scores in tennis are called love?
In France, where tennis first became popular, a big, round zero on
scoreboard looked like an egg and was called l'oeuf, (pronounced

 the
  US, Americans pronounced it love.

Check some brands of whostershire sause. They have fish (whole anchovies )
thrown in and then it is aged for months before bottling. From what I
understand the fish basically rot during the aging process and are dissolved
by the time it is bottled.

I always check the label and buy whostershire that does not list anchovies.
Can't stand the thought of it.

CSBert Wolf's Trivia

2000-06-08 Thread blue_eyes
Hi CS'ers,

Chef Bert Wolf has had several cooking shows on the PBS where he
and his cameras travel around the world watching chefs prepare
famous and not-so-famous local cuisine. He likes to pass on the
history of how the dishes and eating/drinking customs originated.

According to his account (as I recall it) of the glass clinking,
in the pubs it was customary for the serving wench to bring a tray
of wine-filled mugs to the table and to hand one to each of the
guests. Poison was the method of choice in those days, and it was
just a matter of coercing the serving wench to give the special
mug to the intended victim.

After a while, the general public caught on to this and as a remedy,
demanded that the wine be served in glasses so any differences in
wine color could be noticed.

This worked for a while until some one perfected a clear poison
and it was painted on the bottom of the glass and when dried,
was not noticeable in the faint lighting of the day.

To get around this, the guests all held their glasses above the center
of the table and began pouring wine from one glass to another to
dilute the potentially deadly wine.

After enjoying the wine for a while, the jolly guests set about
the wine pouring with much merriment and clinking glasses was
inevitable.

Bert Wolf's accounts of the origins of shaking hands and the military
salute relate to the days of knights in (shining?)armor.

Apparently, when knights in armor encountered each other, it was
difficult to recognize just who was inside the armor, so they
took their flattened right hand and slid it between the helmet
and the hinged face plate. Rotating the hand 90 degrees and lifting
it slightly caused the face plate to expose the knight's face so
he could be recognized.

Since most knights were right handed, it became customary to greet
another knight with the right arm extended forward and shaking hands
as a gesture of good will since it was difficult for a knight to reach
for his sword when his hand was in the clutches of the other knight.

Interesting stuff, huh?

Re: CSRe: Cabbage

2000-06-08 Thread Frank Gibson
Dear listers,
I've GOT to jump on Ivan's bandwagon in honor of the exquisite
flavor of truly good kimchi. The flavor has no parallel, and there are
very few things it doesn't enhance when on the same plate!
I may merit correction from Ivan here, but as I recall from my Air
Force days, the very finest kimchi is (of course) homemade in fairly
small batches and allowed to age like a fine delicate wine buried
underground.
It just could be that the few things CS won't fix, good kimchi
will!
Respect to you all,
 Frank Gibson

CSQuestion about CS

2000-06-08 Thread HelenW8262
Hi, just made a quart of CS and after letting it sit a couple of days then I
poured it into a 4 cup measuring cup and washed the jar it was made in and
poured it back into the original jar, so far so good. Then I poured some of
the CS into a smaller container to use and when I did I noticed something, I
didn't know what, it was like clear sludge adhering to the neck of the jar in
several places. Took a paper towel and wiped it off and it came off without
any trouble. The only thing that I can think of maybe I didn't wash the
measuring cup well enough, I had used it for something else and hand washed
it quickly before pouring the CS into it. Has anyone encountered anything
like this? Am using the CS. Thanks, Mary

CSHVDC CS

2000-06-08 Thread Terry Wayne
Listers,
It seems there is only discussion about LVDC or HVAC.
I put 1 quart of CS into a 1-gal pickle jar, fill up
with DW, hang two 12 .999's as far apart as the
bottle's edges, run 110VDC (from a 40 amp voltage
rectifier), leave one hour. No stirring or switching
polarity. I make 10 gallons/hour, sell to HF stores
and pharmacies across Canada. I have made hundreds of
gallons this way. My CS is always chrystal clear. Bob
Berger tested it and reported it to be 12.1 ppm with
a weak Tyndall effect with very few sparkles. He said
it was a very good product with small particle sized
colloids. I have a 2-quart clear bottle full of CS
which has been sitting all day everyday in the window
in the sun since Jan. 13th, still clear.
I get calls every week from HF store owners reporting
amazing results from my CS. If CS can be made better
than this, I'd be arrested!
Thoughts, anyone?
Terry Wayne
