REFERENCE: HEPATITIS B and C RESEARCH TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEPATITIS USING WHEY PROTEIN (NON HEATED) A. Watanabe, K. Higuchi, K. Okada, Y. Shimizu, Y. Kondo*, and H. Kohri*, Third Department of Internal Medicine, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University. Toyama, Japan, and *Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc., Nutrition Research Institute, Tokushima, Japan In an open study, the clinical efficacy of whey protein (Immunocal: cysteine content; 7.6-fold that of casein) isolated from fresh milk and purified without being heated was evaluated based on liver function test, immunological parameters, plasma or lymphocyte GSH concentrations and hepatitis virus markers in 25 patients with chronic hepatitis B or C. Immunocal (12g as protein) food (mousse) was given twice a day, in the morning and evening, for 12 weeks (test period). Casein (12g as protein) food (mousse) was given for 2 weeks prior to the start of supplement with Immunocal food (induction period) and for 4 weeks after the end (follow-up period). The effects of Immunocal food on various clinical parameters were examined at week intervals for 18 weeks to evaluate the efficacy of Immunocal. As a result, serum ALT activity decreased in 6 of 8 patients with chronic hepatitis B 12 weeks after the start of supplement with Immunocal food. Plasma GSH concentrations were increased in 5 of the 8 patients. Serum concentrations of lipid peroxides significantly decreased 8 weeks after Immunocal food. Serum IL-2 levels began to increase 8 weeks and remained high even after supplement with Immunocal food had ended. Furthermore, NK activity was significantly increased. However, an item correlating with reduced serum ALT activity could not be clarified. In 17 patients with chronic hepatitis C, there were no significant Immunocal-related changes in liver function test or Immunocal parameters. These findings suggest that long-term supplement with Immunocal alone may be effective for patients with chronic hepatitis B, and a further clinical study that long-term combination therapy with Immunocal and other agents including interferon may be effective for those with chronic hepatitis C should be performed. Mike, recently when I was making my silver it was a light gray color and had a light metal taste, what do you think happened? I used distilled water and clean everything. I have also notice that when using new silver wires this same thing happens for at least the first 3 to 4 10 oz glasses. Do you think this is harmful to drink? I have been making CS and I find the following: with 27v, 12 oz boiling distilled water, produced on a hot plate, in a jam jar, I find it takes about 15-20 minutes to bring the color up to a yellow/peach color. (note - I am using the silver wires from SOTO that is pre-madeup, by attaching the aligator clips to the silver wires) Comments on the above, please. Question: 1. why does SOTO have one big wire and a small one?? 2. Does it matter which size wire you attach the aligator clips to?? 3. Dameon, I have a grandchild with CF. He is now 3. At a very early age fluid slowly started building in his lungs. We did and are still done enzyme therapy. As of now he no longer has any fluid build-up. The doctors have no answer other than he now has a mild case of CF. Our explanation is a little different. When he was only 1-1/2 we started feeding him a product called Ambrotose, and a lot of it. Within 3 months we notice that the fluid build-up had significantly reduced. Today he no longer has any build-up. About 4 months we started him on Immunocal for GSH production and weight gain. He is a twin and is now equal to his twin sister is all respects. Bruce, when making CS last night I found this: 1. It left a film on my glass that was light yellow and very hard to get off, in fact I still have not got all of it off. 2. When I drink the CS it has a slight metal taste. 3. Right after drinking 8 oz I get a slight numbness in my throat that goes away after about 30+/- minutes. Question: 1. After 30+/- minutes can you stop and re-boil the water/CS, then continue to make CS? 2. Bruce, In listening to Beck's tape he says tap water is OK, but purified water looks better. I tried filtered water at my home today and the red light came on so I through it away. Also, I'm now putting together a 27V CS maker according to his information. Would you agree that that is better and faster than the 9V? I just started making and using CS with a SOTO bought CS maker. 1. First 8 oz made was with filtered water. I boiled the water, then poured it into a different glass. Put the silver wires into the glass and ran the equipment for 20 minutes. The color was a fairly dark yellow/brown, muddy, and with black flakes. 2. Second try was with 12 oz of distilled water. Did same as 1. above, but ran the equipment for 35 minutes. The water was colorless and clear. 3. Third try was with 8 oz of distilled water. Did same as 1. above, but ran the equipment for 20 minutes. The water was colorless and clear. 4. Forth try was with 8 oz of filtered water again. Did same as 1. above. This time the water was a light gray color with black flakes. After each run, I cleaned the wires as directed. I did not drink no.'s 1 & 4, but I did drink 2 &3. They had a nearly no smell, but did not taste like distilled water. I notice that my mouth and throat felt a very very low numb felling, and swallowing had a slight tight felling. My friend who did the same as me noticed about the same things, however, after drinking the CS we both drank 8 oz of Ozonator water (SOTO equipment), he noticed mild dizziness. Would someone please give me some help with a family member who has AIDS and appears to be in the 'wasting' stage and now wants help. He is 54. Smokes a cigar once in awhile. Dear Nancy B., A friend with Colitis/Crohn's for over 8 years started working with my partner 18 months ago on an alternative protocol. Using two different products (Immunocal & Ambrotose) on a regular bases and a change in eating habit's, according to his doctor, dose not have Colitis/Crohn's anymore.
