CSUltrasonic cleaner trouble

2011-05-12 Thread Richard Pells
Sorry Mike, I meant with no items in ie jewelry etc., just fluid. Normally
there would be items in the cleaner with the water and, not being technical,
I was just wondering whether that would make a difference. No, I always go
way past the minimum level. I'm getting more convinced of it being a problem
with the lecithin. The last machine a tried was a bona fide professional
cleaner with a 60 minute timer and 2 year guarantee. That was broken in
little over 15 minutes of continuous use and the tank temperature was below
30 degrees when it was designed to go up to 80 degrees (Centigrade).

All the best

CSUltrasonic cleaner trouble

2011-05-12 Thread Richard Pells
The lecithin mixture I'm using is exactly as instructed...3 tablespoons in
8oz of distilled water, plus 1 tablespoon of AA and half a tablespoon of
baking soda in 4oz dw. For the larger, professional machine I had to double
everything because of the larger tank capacity. I've only ever used James
Products though. I've now ordered the large Harbor Freight type. I only
thought it must be the lecithin because it's not water. Is there some sort
of feed back to the transducer? Does it have to work too hard producing the
effect in a thicker solution? I can't think what else it could be. Anyway,
I'll try the new one and see how that goes.
Thanks

Ahh, that's sensible! lol

I don't see why it should break the unit(s). I've run proper
professional units with just water in them for extended periods without
problems. I can't imagine that the lecithin is going to cause a
problem, but without testing, how could we know?

My suspicion is you got a couple of bad units... but that seems so
unlikely if they're indeed a solid brand.

If you get to try another one, try running it for an hour with just
water, first?

sigh Dunno what else to say...

...except, good luck with the Harbor Freight unit!

Do you let the lecithin dissolve completely in the water before mixing? I
usually let mine set for about 5-6 hours and then whir it in the blender. I
also make sure that the AA is thoroughly dissolved. I don't use any baking
soda in mine.

CSUltrasonic cleaner trouble

2011-05-11 Thread Richard Pells
Thanks for the comments. A subscriber has kindly contacted me and
recommended the larger Harbor Freight machine. He has been using this model
for a year now and runs it at 2 x 480 seconds with an hour interval between.
Dick did mention that he'd had two smaller models burn out prior to this.
The last model I bought was a James 2200m (professional) with the transducer
welded to the underside of the tank. The timer had a maximum run time of 60
mins, I only ran it for just over 15 mins. So with those machines it must
either be the consistency of the lecithin mixture, or the fact that there's
nothing in the tank. I did get to speak with James of James Products and he
didn't seem to think there would be a problem running them in this way and
assured me that they sell thousands world wide with no problems. Thanks for
the advice about looking on Ebay, there's a couple I've added to my watch
list, but if the model Dick recommends is available here and I think I've
found the same model on Amazon.co.uk, I'll go for that as it's also a bit of
a bargain at £30!

Thanks again!
Richard

Umm, Richard, what did you mean by there's nothing in the tank?
Aren't you making your product directly in the tank of the machine?

An ultrasonic cleaner does need to be full to the minimum operating
line with *some* kind of liquid if it's not to damage itself. Running
it empty or low is not good.

all calm down and reason will return soon lol dee PS I suppose I could
test my blood sugars and see if they have gone up, but then, all these levels
are different from hour to hour so I don't see the point really.

The point of blood sugar testing for is (for me) to see what foods raise blood
glucose unacceptably. The reason I started testing again is that I was having
some strange symptoms that didn't seem to fit other causes, so I wanted to see
if my blood sugar was going wonky, and indeed it was--going too high, remaining
high too long. I expected from symptoms it would be too low, but it was the
opposite.
Blood sugar does vary a lot in the course of a day, but it doesn't really
have to. It is possible to find which foods send it soaring then and stop
eating those foods.
I am looking at blood sugar stabilization because it is something I have not
previously tried in my search to eliminate or further reduce chronic stubborn
symptoms I have that cause me loss of quality of life, and loss of physical
functionality, as in I can't do what I want to do, and I consider myself
partially disabled because of limited ability to do basic daily things I used
to do without even thinking about them (decades ago). For the past 15 or so
years, I have to ration everything I do on the basis of the amount of pain and
further limited mobility it might cause due to increased pain, and/or how much
energy it will use up that might be better used doing something else, even if
no extra pain is produced.
Anyone familiar with the spoon theory will know what I mean. Every single
thing I do in a day is a trade off for something else I won't be able to do
because of what I did choose to do.
The good news is that I have improved to where I no longer need canes (2) or
walking sticks to get around, and I can do more than just get my morning shower
(some days in the past I didn't used to be able to even shower). Back then,
I'd have thought myself very well indeed to be where I am mostly at today, but
I am finding that this still isn't the kind of life I want, so I keep trying
things to see if I can get more improvement. Unfortunately
most of the things I've tried seem to only result in setbacks which it is
dismayingly difficult to crawl up from. At some point, I need to give up
trying for further improvement and consider this as good as it gets.
But so far I have been too stubborn to do that, and as my husband is wont to
say hope springs infernal. I keep hoping for something better, when I should
probably just be grateful I'm not in a wheelchair, which seemed to be in my
near future a few years ago. I am grateful I
am not sick half or more of every year with colds or flu as I used to be in
pre-CS decades. There is no condition so bad that a really nasty long cold
can't make worse, LOL.

Golly you have been through the mill, haven't you sol? I moan if I get a small
dose of shingles!

I think I am the opposite to you, but have the same reaction. I mean,
*because* I am usually a very well (I wouldn't say 'fit' by any means,) person,
I notice immediately if something isn't right i.e. these palpitations I've been
having since starting the Vit C thing. I have had a sister-in-law just die of
ovarian cancer and my other sister-in-law died of bone cancer--both quite
young--and I am interested in NOT having this happen to me! That is, I am
always looking for something which is a cancer preventative as it is in my
immediate family too. This is why I started the Vit C thingy--also because I
am not a very healthy eater either, although I try. I also worry about C
upsetting the calcium/iodine balance, which I believe high doses can.

I was pre-diabetic a few years ago, but now don't seem to be--at least I wasn't
on my last visit to the docs last year. The doctor told me to stop
self-testing as it was a waste of time because levels fluctuate so much.
Probably because my levels--even at their worst--were not that high. They were
6.7 at their highest I believe.

I do take iodine occasionally, and chlorella but apart from that just the Vit C
and of course, CS. Oh, and I have just started using natural Progesterone cream
which is supposed to balance all hormones including insulin etc., and is
supposed to be involved in protecting against cancer and other diseases. This
is not to be confused with progestin or progestergen, by the way, as these are
synthetic forms and are in things like HRT. and are NOT good. Anyway, I hope
you continue on in your quest to find something that will help you further, and
I wish you all the best. dee

Yes, at this level, you are getting huge amounts of choline and omega-6
linoleic acid, which can cause a number of toxicity problems.

Overdosage, toxicity and cautions for lecithin
In generally healthy adults, there are no health concerns or contraindications
at normal dosage.
In high doses choline may cause the following side-effects:
* nausea
* sweating
* diarrhoea
* vomiting
* bloating

CAUTIONS
* People with bipolar disorder and depression - should not use lecithin
as it can worse the depressive stage of the illness
* People with any psychiatric condition - should get medical advice
before taking lecithin

that might be better used doing something else, even if no extra pain is
produced.
Anyone familiar with the spoon theory will know what I mean. Every
single thing I do in a day is a trade off for something else I won't be
able to do because of what I did choose to do.
The good news is that I have improved to where I no longer need canes
(2) or walking sticks to get around, and I can do more than just get my
morning shower (some days in the past I didn't used to be able to even
shower). Back then, I'd have thought myself very well indeed to be
where I am mostly at today, but I am finding that this still isn't the
kind of life I want, so I keep trying things to see if I can get more
improvement. Unfortunately most of the things I've
tried seem to only result in setbacks which it is dismayingly difficult
to crawl up from. At some point, I need to give up trying for further
improvement and consider this as good as it gets. But so far I
have been too stubborn to do that, and as my husband is wont to say
hope springs infernal. I keep hoping for something better, when I
should probably just be grateful I'm not in a wheelchair, which seemed
to be in my near future a few years ago. I am grateful I am not sick
half or more of every year with colds or flu as I used to be in pre-CS
decades. There is no condition so bad that a really nasty long cold
can't make worse, LOL.

Doughnuts and ice cream make me feel yucky and my heart beat faster. So why is
my body so dumb as to think these are my favorite foods???

I'm still a bit unsure of the Vit C thing as well. If it hadn't been
Brookes who posted on the benefits, I probably wouldn't have bothered. I
have to put stress into the equation as well, because I must say I have got
stressed about it all i.e the expense etc., plus I'm trying to get hubby to
take it which is worrying me more than if it were just me. Hopefully it will
all calm down and reason will return soon lol dee PS I suppose I could
test my blood sugars and see if they have gone up, but then, all these levels
are different from hour to hour so I don't see the point really.
