A quick follow-up on the issue of adding a redundant server. I did a yum update today (10/30/2012) on the primary server, then started NTP (just to note, ntpd was not set to auto start in chkconfig). I did the same on the redundant server and then went through sipxecs-setup on the redundant node and it completed without error. So it seams that my problem stemmed from NTP not starting. I usually configure ntp on my servers and point the phones to the server, so yes, that would be appropriate. I think the old 4.4 DHCP config had the phones pointing to pool.ntp.org. [sipx-users] voicemail restore issues
I had a server that needed to be rebuilt yesterday with 4.4. I ran a backup of voicemail and configuration, rebuilt the server, but had an error when trying to restore the voicemail.Don't have exact error, but it was complaining the file was too large. And it was big, about 1.2 tb. Suspect this was the wrong thing to do now, but here is what I did. I unzipped the gz file to a tar file, and then opened the tar file to a temp folder. I then created the mailstore folder and copied the voicemails into it. So, I got my personal greetings to play in the voicemail boxes, but users are unable to delete messages in voicemail now. Error in sipstatus.log says invalid nonce. I'm thinking of deleting old emails in the mailstore, recreating a new gz file and trying to restore that smaller file. Re: [sipx-users] voicemail restore issues
It's most likely a permissions issue. If you make a local backup on the new system then delete the voicemail archive and move the backup onto it (onboard), you should be able to do a restore from local backup. Once you graft voicemail, the permissions for the folders and files need to be correct, you can easily match that up against any existing system but I think if you tested one user it would bear this out as the reason. all user/group ownership should be sipxchange:sipxchange and folders should be 0755 while files should be 0644. The line wrapping looks weird, like it was touched in a cli editor that was set too narrow, the line wraps should not be there. I don't see the config lines automatically inserted by sipx in there either. I think if you were to open it in text editor that would show you wrapped lines and fix that, while making sure the sipx generated lines were in there (they are not), you would be able to fix it using the typical sendmail commands to rebuild m4 and then restart the sendmail server. silly question (not really if you know dns) but is your sip domain the same as your email domain? if so you might just need to do a little dns record work in your zone file. Is NTP supposed to start on the primary node after first reboot? chicken and egg. Currently we configure ntp (including chkconfig) after we get past setup, but apparently we cannot always get past setup until times are in sync. So fix is to configure ntp in setup script AND continue to manage it in system as we are today. Aaron P's problem was not NTP because we checked that. I think setup script didn't set supervisor's auth files correctly. Aaron is off and running, but I'm looking how Aaron could have gotten into this situation. Re: [sipx-users] Sendmail Issue
Ok so Tommy... lets say your sipXecs server is in domain xyz.com and has an authoritative dns server for that domain but has no MX records in it... Now lets say that this same server wants to send mail to xyz.com. So it does an mx record lookup for xyz.com and do you think it will find a mail server? So, look at the mx records you have at network solutions. Replicate the mx records and the corresponding A records into your zone file (located in /var/named/ ). When you're done, restart named (service named restart) and if you haven't muffed the file format named will start. Voila... DNS magic. The datasheet and web page for the phone doesn't say so, but the Compare models says it can. -Bryan Anderson ___ sipx-users mailing list sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/ -- Michael Picher, Director of Technical Services eZuce, Inc. 300 Brickstone Square Suite 201 Andover, MA. 01810 O.978-296-1005 X2015 M.207-956-0262 @mpicher http://twitter.com/mpicher linkedinhttp://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=35504760trk=tab_pro www.ezuce.com There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't. ___ sipx-users mailing list sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/ ___ sipx-users mailing list sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/ -- ~~ Tony Graziano, Manager Telephone: 434.984.8430 sip: tgrazi...@voice.myitdepartment.net Fax: 434.465.6833 ~~ Linked-In Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tony-graziano/14/4a6/7a4 Ask about our Internet Fax services! ~~ Using or developing for sipXecs from SIPFoundry?
