You might like to look at flwm, it is better in the way windows expand
and very light.

Mike,
I have used:
set terminal X11
plot [x=-1:10] sqrt(x/(x**2 + 1))
set terminal latex
set output eqn-aiv.tex
replot -sqrt(x/(x**2 + 1))
Without the second last two lines (setting latex and output) this
generates what I want on the screen with the upper, positive half
in red and the lower half in green.
The output file is in latex \picture format which is imported into
the main tex-file.

Thanks, Doug.

[SLUG] latex gnuplot missing colour

2003-07-09 Thread Douglas Hespe
Hi any latex gurus out there,

I am trying to get gnuplot to draw y= +/- sqrt(x/(x**2+1)) into a latex
file using replot to get the positive and negative halves of the
relation.
On the screen (using set terminal X11) it comes out fine with the top
half blue and the bottom half red. The latex plot comes
out with only the top half drawn. Even the legend shows a solid line
for the top half but no line for the bottom half.
I have looked at the file but can not understand it well enough to see
what the problem is.
The file is too big to attach to this email but I would be happy to
send it to anyone who thinks they might be able to help.

TIA, Doug.

Peter,

On my Debian system, when I run:
carrot# apt-cache search xpm4.7
I get:
xpm4.7 - the X PixMap library, compiled with libc5

Your system should have a similar method of finding out what packages
are available. E.g., rpm -some_arcane_set_of_options xpm4.7.

I just looked over my notes from when I last had the same problem you
described and noticed that someone suggested I install xpm4g as well.
Someone else (Alan Shutko) said that xlib6 is needed as well as libc5.
>From what I remember, I just ran 'apt-get install xpm4g' and 'apt-get
install xpm4.7' and wp8 then installed without any further problems.

Sorry I can't be more explicit as I have no experience with the rpm-
based distros. A google search or a visit to wpuniverse.com (or is
it .org?) may be needed if the above is no help.

This sounds like a library problem. WP8 is a libc5 binary, I think, so
you will need the xpm4.7 package (at least for Debian-- I know naught
about the less user-friendly distros like Red-Hat).

Terry,

Try the quote or quotation environments. E.g.,

Q. How many beans make 5?
\begin{quote}
A. Five
\end{quote}

Quotation is for longer responses with several paragraphs.

Try using XF86Setup as root-- it is semi-graphical, that is once you
have set up your mouse it is fully graphical. You will need the svga-16
xserver plus whatever xserver is recommended for your video card.

Later is better. The current stable release is 2.2r5. You can easily
update using
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
if your /etc/apt/sources.list is tweaked to a local mirror. Try using
apt-setup if you haven't done this yet.
