Now if only they would also pre-install Linux so I knew everything worked :-(. I own a CL50 from Digital Star. The only parts I've never had working are the SD card reader and the winmodem. I think both can be gotten to work if you care enough. The network chip is a bog-standard realtek part. It's got a centrino chipset, with Radeon 9000M (which Ubuntu supported out of the box) I'm pretty happy with the hardware, although the disk IO is slow. The screen is nice @ 1400x1050. You could also try EYO Technologies (link below) as they have a number of laptops without an OS. I don't know if they would be willing to install your choice of Linux, but it won't hurt to ask. http://www.eyo.com.au [EMAIL PROTECTED] Gnuthad On 10 Sep 2005 at 15:22, elliott-brennan wrote: Hi Howard, I came across this site just a few days ago: http://www.vgcomputing.com.au/about.html Good luck with it all :) Regards, Patrick -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

The trick is to take a Knoppix CD etc into the shop and do an lspcibut that kinda defeats the purpose of buying online eh? Give them a call and see if they can send you the output of an lspci etc. You might be surprised :) James -- Them as has, gets. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
