[RCSE] Disk Sander (was: Tool that I Want)

2002-03-15 Thread Dave Johnson

Here's mine, a little more expensive 10 instead of 12, but one lovely thing about
this one, for modeling work in particular, is its low and variable speed...

OK, now what tool do you want?

Personally, I'd love to have a belt sander. But that will wait for a while,
I just bought a band saw that I'm quickly starting to love.

Mazda RX7 Convertible

Great for the local site about 30 miles from the house. Fits 2-3 open class
planes with ease. Gets cramped if it rains.

For slope it would have to be any car with a good heater. Our slope site
faces NW. The only time we get NW is when it is 30 degrees out. Any vehicle
has room for a Zagi.

Mark,
Yep the C-130 is a fine transport but for frisbee flying nothing' beats a
C-5. Took part in the great Viet Nam junkie retrieval exercise in '73 and
got to fly in one back to Elmendorf Alaska from DaNang when our air evac jet
broke down. Only 7 people on board and the whole back bay was empty. Do
believe you could fly a M class HLG back there.

Re: [RCSE] Favorite Transport Vehicle

2002-03-15 Thread Brett Jaffee

I use my Ford F-150, and have a Snugtop fiberglass tennueau (sp?) cover over the bed.
Plenty of room, and it's nice not having to worry about stuff flying out of the bed.
Plus, its lockable, and no one can see inside it, so if I park somewhere with the
planes inside, i don't worry about that.

I'd say any kind of pickup would be good, except for those really short bed ones.

For my purposes this would be a second vehicle, one that would only be used
to make runs to Home Depot on occasion but mostly for carrying models.
Dollar-wise, at 8-12 year old SUV or pickup with small camper shell would
seen to make most sense. I'm thinking 4-wheel drive is a must for that added
safety factor but trying to stay in the $3000-$6000 range.

 Anyone found the ideal transport?

All right...what's with the buzzing that emanates from the JR 368
digital
micros? I'm sure the wing skins amplify the sound somewhat, but with
six of
these things, my plane is likely to sound like a Frankenstein
defibrillator.

Seems like most of the answers are well thought out but I am sure
my favorite tool, except for a very nice hand crafted wooden single-

Re: [RCSE] Favorite Transport Vehicle

2002-03-15 Thread Mark Wales

Joe,

Flew in one of those from Turkey to Germany and the thing was broke before
we left and then prior to landing it called in broke again. We had to
change planes to make the last flight to England. Would never want to have
to work on one of those monsters.

I would rather screw my way around the world, than suck and blow

We used to put on our helmets on with the visor down an throw chem. lites on
night flights with the cargo lights off. Did the frisbee thing to but as
you know not a hole lot of room for that.

See where all your tax dollars go everyone...
Have had a good time now in over 30 countries and getting there can be half
the fun.. thanks!!

[RCSE] Transport vehicle for sale

2002-03-15 Thread RenoGeezer

1982 4WD extra cab P.U. w/ SnugTop fiberglass camper shell. Will go anywhere
you have the guts to drive it.
New aggressive off road tires, new battery, new starter, relatively new
rebuilt alternator, tranny has had a new kit recently, also new clutch at
same time. Interior was redone. Never wrecked, body in excellent shape.
I am the original owner.
May need some transfer case work.
This truck also has a sunroof which is removable and makes an excellent
vehicle for cross country flying, as the pilot can stand up through the
sunroof while following the plane.
(excellent for outback shooting of jack rabbits also.)
Re-licensed and smogged (in Nevada) 2 weeks ago.
Great construction and work truck.
$1800 smackers.
