[RCSE] Multiplex NEWS

2002-07-15 Thread Karlton Spindle

I just got back from a meeting with Multiplex in Germany.

Some Product NEWS:
1) Royal Evo on 72Mhz is in testing in working production form.
Crystal version only so far.
2) Royal Evo HAS NOT been sent to FCC for testing yet so it will not
be ready until January 2003 :-(
3) Slim Star Servo will be out in December both analog and digital
4) I saw a new plane in R&D that will be a must have sport plane.

Some of what is NEW for us in the USA:
A) We have just renewed our agreement for another 5 years!
B) We also got a new SUPPLY program in place! <-- WOW
C) We can now carry other brands of R/C goods. Something I had to use
our other company for.
D) Watch for new offerings from CZ, Poland, Norway, China and Germany
soon!

Smooth Thermals,
Karlton

RE: [RCSE] New Hitec Wing servos (125MG and 5125MG-Digital)

2002-07-15 Thread Glen

Hi Guys,

How about "the rest of the story".

We at Hitec are aware of a HS-5125MG failing in flight in the manor
described by Mr. Till while being used as the elevator servo on a 15-17
pound turbine powered jet model.

Would Mr. Till be willing to confirm this is the case to which he is
referring to?

If this is the failure in question, I would have the modeling public
know the application of the 5125MG was inappropriate. Digital circuitry
in a servo rated at 49oz/in does not make the servo "magical" and thus
capable of over coming the very strict and unyielding laws of physics.
There is an old saying "use the right tool for the job", it is clear the
5125MG was not the correct servo for the elevator of that heavy plane.
Ladies and Gentleman please learn from this mistake so it is not
replicated elsewhere.

It is regrettable anytime a expensive plane "goes in" for a mechanical
reasons, it is further regrettable a good, solid product such as the
Hitec 5125MG is defamed through gossip on the internet.

Having recently seen one burn a hole through it's case and cover after a
surface was jammed, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. I think
they have "current draw issues".

Cheers,
Adam Till

It's a big mistake to allow any mechanical object to
realize that you are in a hurry.

The trouble with doing something right the first
time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

Re: [RCSE] Interesting fact about New Volz Micro Maxx X series

2002-07-15 Thread Steve Meyer

Boy I took the Addiction out this weekend and it was like setting up a
new plane, those blue servos were all over the place. Had to
RE-CENTER every one. Very annoying on the elevator makes for some
exciting launches. Guess I just need to buy 6 new servos. Yeh that's
it, the new ones will be better. ;-)

You ISP appears to be Earthlink which uses Exim on their server farm,
and Unix as the OS, so the reason you didn't have to deal with the virus
was Unix ;->

[RCSE] Volz X !

2002-07-15 Thread Charles Miller

Good Morning!
I have the new Volz X in my Escape.. I really can tell the difference
from the older Volz servo's. I have many of the older ones.. They
actually work well.. Only striped out a half dozen or so. Due to my own
mistake's. (landing with flaps extended)
The new X servo's have not had a problem . They are , or seem more
positive, and are a bit more silent...
I will buy more
Cheers
Charlie

Re: [RCSE] Interesting fact about New Volz Micro Maxx X series

2002-07-15 Thread GordySoar
Hi Les,
Thanks for the huge type font!  Saves me putting on my reading glasses.:-)
My post was about the MM X series, which pointed out that none of the X's have had any gear train problems.

The broken pin problem popped up in a certain run of the MM's when the pin material supplier decided to send material that exceeded the hardness spec required. Micro Maxx (non X) servos haven't been available for quite awhile.

If you were to look at the X series gear deck, you'd see that its vitually impossible to get the kind of loads that cause chipped gears, bent or broken pins like in all other brand servos of the MM gear deck design.

And by the way, if you were to contact [EMAIL PROTECTED], they will fix your older MM's up with some new pins and a tune up that should make them even better than when you bought them.  There is never a service or labor charge, just include return postage in the box with the servos insure that they can be sent back, same day or next day from when they are recieved.  You'll be notified via email that they got there, and notified that they left too.
You will be knocked $5 for cutting the plug off, they hate having to solder leads on to test the servos!

So thanks for posting that bit of information out to the crowd, but its okay to just post Volz or me off line to make sure you are getting constructive information out to other modelers.  There are probably others who don't know about [EMAIL PROTECTED] and may have questions like yours too.

To see why the Micro Maxx X series is unlikely to ever have the kind of think happen to its gear train, just go to the first page of Volz webpage MM-X Gear Deck Page, there is an exposed view of the X series gear deck and all of its amazing amount of supports, to make sure gears don't get to bow apart underloads
But again, once the those servos who have had a gear pin crack are updated to last MM's components, they will center great, draw less current and be happier :-)

Again its [EMAIL PROTECTED] a really nice guy too!
Gordy
