If the question is what is the probability of 6 independent events taking place in a certain order, the answer you give above is correct. Say you have 6 socks in a drawer: yellow, red, blue, green, white and orange. You reach in blindfolded and draw them out randomly, one at a time. The probability that they'll come out in the order quoted (YRBGWO) is 1/720. __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Most servos can go nearly 180 degrees before hitting a mechanical stop, which is usually only possible with subtrim adjustments and extreme deflection. Most pots have a wider range than this (about 270 degrees), so the movement is still consistent at the extremes. -- Andrew E. [RCSE] Probability Question...

[RCSE] Probability question inputs thanks.
Thanks to all who pitched in with answers. One fellow, Ed Granger, who teaches on the discipline of probabilities, etc. even called to offer some insight. Thanks, Ed! Each of the 6 events also has it own rather high improbability which greatly complicates the question well beyond that involved with dice or colored marbles, etc. If anyone is interested, just ask and I will e-mail you a page with the details for you to mull over. It is soaring related only to the effect on my heart which has now soared for over 40 years because of 6 unlikely events that occurred in a certain order! Harley Michaelis, 26 S. RE: [RCSE] A.M.A. of Canada...
The Model Aeronautics Association of Canada www.maac.ca There is a reciprocal agreement between the MAAC and AMA so if a member of one organization is visiting the other country their membership qualifies them to participate in the other organization's activities. But if you go to Canada, be VERY nice. It seems too many contest directors and club airfield bosses are stuck up jerks who won't listen or read the AMA's documents when presented, and just plain refuse to honor the MAAC cards. I highly doubt you will find MAAC members that won't honor AMA membership, but you'll find some people holding grudges. A few years back I was in southern California with a friend from Vancouver and we found a handlaunch competition the weekend we would be there. They would not let my friend participate without buying an AMA membership, and would not read the AMA statement of reciprocity. So I have no reason to doubt that there are a lot of rude AMA members who will discriminate against MAAC members. [RCSE] Fwd: AMA Official Notice
To all, I don't know who get this already, but I think everyone should at least know about this from AMA. And everyone should join in to support this. Brian From: AMA [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: B CHAN [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Tue, 17 Sep 2002 16:11:06 -0500 Subject: AMA Official Notice WD-MessageId: 20BFAAB434EE418B87F157B2FDD40759 Hello B, AMA Official Notice To: All Modelers Worldwide It is of vital importance to the future of our sport that you are made aware that the Torrey Pines Gliderport in San Diego, California has been closed to radio-controlled sailplanes, this despite the fact that this gliderport is listed on the City, State, and National Registers of Historic Sites for all forms of motorless flight. By decision of the for-profit lessee (Air California Adventures/David Jebb), the site was closed on August 7, 2002. This closure was based on his interpretation of the AMA Safety Code and therefore insurance coverage does not apply. The safety issues he mentioned were stipulated in vague and incomplete terms. It would appear that the City of San Diego has given exclusive power to the lessee regarding flight operations at this public park. The August 7 notice stated that closure was by ordinance of the City of San Diego. When an inquiry was made to the city, Christian Anderson, Property Agent, stated The City of San Diego has not ordered the termination of RC soaring at Torrey Pines. Apparently the question of authority remains up for grabs. AMA has engaged a fellow modeler and Torrey Pines Gliderport pilot as legal counsel. He is currently working with a task team of local modelers. Additional information on this task force is available on the Torrey Pines Gulls Web page at www.torreypinesgulls.org. A meeting between this task force, Air California Adventure, and the City of San Diego was held on September 5, 2002. Despite this meeting being called by the City, there was no neutral mediator. As a result the meeting was one-sided and very little was accomplished. As an interested modeler, we know you value this sport of aeromodeling. This effort demands and now solicits your support. Since this action to exclude radio controlled soaring at this world-famous institution was apparently based on misinformation, not facts, we believe the voice of the modeler needs to be heard. Ask for the opportunity to be heard in favor of model aviation and its unrestricted continuance at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. Also ask for an acknowledgment and request a meeting with principal officials involved, along with meeting notification. Request that the City of San Diego maintains operation of model aviation at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. Send your letter to the San Diego City Manager, Michael T. Uberuaga. Also, at the end of this official notice is a list of other key officials to consider when sending a copy of your letter. Tell Mr. Uberuaga what model aviation means to you! Help the City appreciate that model aviation is educational, constructive, career building, and an alternative to drugs for youth! There are no physical barriers, and it's open to people of all ages. Our sport encourages an early interest in the field of aviation. Model aviation promotes better-educated youth for research and the development of future technology. Join our efforts and support this with a short letter and do it now! If time is a constraint then at least send a note to the effect: I, [your name], as a model aircraft enthusiast, request that the City of San Diego upholds Resolution R-290676, adopted September 8, 1998, that the Torrey Pines Gliderport be operated for non-powered flight as has been since 1930 and that the use continues on this property to serve the general public. That the Torrey Pines Gliderport be managed by a City of San Diego employee and not leased to any party with a conflict of interest by operating a for-profit business and serving as overall Flight Director simultaneously. Sign and date your letter and don't forget to add your address. Please forward a copy to: The Academy of Model Aeronautics Attn. [RCSE] Something For The Building Season..
If you want to build a bagged wing quickly then you may want to do it with a tubular carbon spar, like the professionals do. It's not so easy to design an efficient planform and work out the track of the spar through the foam. It depends on the airfoil you choose. There is now a modified liftroll spreadsheet that does this. It uses an HN345SR as the airfoil, but you can easily substitute the values of your favorite. You can download this spreadsheet from the Liftroll Cookbook website. See link below. Look for A 3-piece 132 With Tube Spar.
