[RCSE] RE: Wing Servos
Well, the following servos are all pretty good if money is the deciding factor: 1. HS-125 (non-digital MG's) 2. JR 341 sim to HS-85, but better 3. JR 351 sim to JR 341 but with MG 4. JR 368 digi version of the 351, very sweet servo 5. HS-85MG, good servo, plenty strong but too much play usually. The HS-85 non-MG servos are a bit tighter, but more prone to breakage. Price them out, and get what you can. I just got two digital versions of the venerable HS-225 called the HS-5245, and they are fantastic for flap and elevator/rudder, at about $50 each. About $15 cheaper than the JR368's, though slightly larger. Cheers, Nathan Woods RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. RE: [RCSE] Model aircraft legislation - truth or rumor?
I wrote Dave Brown concerning this issue. Here is his reply. This is news(?) to me I doubt if there is any foundation, but I'll look into it. The only part with any POSSIBLE validity, is the no autonomous flight, as this has been discussed as a possible reaction to security threats. No new experimental aircraft? You would hear the hue and cry from EAA so loud it would deafen you, and I haven't heard a peep out of them. Be cautious about dismissing this issue out of hand. I'd encourage you to go back to the August 2002 issue of Model Aviation and read Dave Brown's and Bob Hunt's columns. They both talk about the potential for further government regulation of model aviation arising out of 9-11 related concerns about the misuse of model technology. Especially autopilot or autonomous control systems. While I have no special knowledge or insight about what may be happening, what Mark has related is entirely within the realm of possibility. [RCSE] RE: Wing Servos
I just installed HS 85MGs to replace 14 noisy and sometimes intermittent (in four different sailplanes) JR 341 and 351s which had been returned to JR and were returned to me with the $100+ bill as in good condition. These servos were just as noisy and intermittent after this expensive service. One of the new HS 85s was temperature sensitive and replaced, but all are not noisy or intermittent in the same sailplanes. Dale Nutter
[RCSE] F3F race at Torrey?
Guys, I flew by Torrey the other day on my way to, and out of Montgomery Field in SD on Friday the 27th - the day of the race? On the way down, saw many large slope race type models on the edge of the hill. (Couldn't tell if anybody was flying) On the way back, around 4:00 or so, saw nothing. Did the race get skunked? Felt like there was possibly wind, but not much. D __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. I need some way of checking how much charge (under flying load) I have left on my sailplane batteries other than letting them run out of juice while flying. Currently I am using 4.8 Volt 600Mah batteries in my smaller planes and a 5 Cell (6V) battery in my Miraj. I would like to use something other than guesswork to know how much flying time I have left and also have a good idea when I need to replace worn out batteries. Is there something that plugs into the charging wire of my switch or directly into the batteries wires? Thanks for any suggestions. -Bruce Turner [EMAIL PROTECTED] RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. JR 368 digi version of the 351, very sweet servo The only thing in common between the 351 and the DS368 is the case. The 368 has new electronics and it has a totally different gear train. Now all we have to do is wait for the DS161 wing servo. If you have a single flap model, or want a powerful servo for a flying stab, use the JR DS3421. It's a mini sized servo. Cool DLG wing servo, the DS281. The digital version of the 241. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] RE: Wing Servos
Dale, is it because of more deadband (electronic), or looser gear sets that eat up the loads at no TX input? Any ideas? The reason I'm asking is that I will need a couple of planes worth of servos soon. I just finished a Milan (knock around plane) and used MPX digitals on R/E/F and MPX analogs on Al with out any noise or chatter. This will be my first use of these servos so can't tell you about flight or reliability yet. I do have H85MG's in my Hera and they are coming out of the flaps due to slop. Can't seem to hold a center and the play scares me a little.
