[RCSE] Who remembers The Old Buzzard video?

2006-04-14 Thread Richard Shagam
The video may still be available here http://soaringstuff.com/buzzvid.html

And the Old Buzzard, himself, is also still available. He was sighted
around ABQ a few months ago. He was actually flying an RC sailplane at our
field. (Mostly, he rides bicycles, these days, and throws little freeflight
HLG's.)

re: [RCSE] Disappointed

2004-12-21 Thread Richard Shagam
Sorry, Bill, but I had submitted my CASL SWC appplication long before
you sent out your plea. The way I see it, especially the way that I
have consistantly placed the past four years I've attended, is that my
role in the sailplane community is to make the rest of you look much
better than you think you really are. With a mission like that, I
should be paid to come!! See you in February.

[RCSE] Re: First Sailplane

2004-12-06 Thread Richard Shagam
My first sailplane was a 2 m polyhedral floater called an EyeSoar.
Of course, by the time it completed its first 'obligatory' hand toss it
looked like one. The nose immediately got shorter by about a
quarter-inch after a newbie zoom and stall (no one to help me). But it
eventually flew great until it met an untimely death in a moving truck.
