Sometimes it takes 10 or 12 cycles for a battery to
get ramped up,especially if it's been unused for a
long time. What brand are the cells?

--- Todd Larsen [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I should have listened to a LOT of your guys' advice
 regarding BATTERIES
 AMERICA...what a JOKE of a company.

Past experiences were nominal like wrong items
 shipped only to have me
ship back to wait and wait to finally get what I
 originally
ordered.dealing with RUDE people on their
 phone..receiving a couple
RX packs that didn't even SNIFF the capacity level
 AFTER a 24 hour charge
with my Sirius Pack former..get the runaround
 over the phone about NOT
PROPERLY CHARGING, etc. Like a Dumb-dumb I keep
loyal and try to give them
 the benefit of the doubt.

Recently (the past 2 and 1/2 years) I have had THREE
 painful surgeries on my
FEET that has hampered me to do much flying...or
 anything at all at that.
Prior to my second operation I purchased servo's and
 batteries for upcoming
projects once I am back on my feet. Well a THIRD
 operation was necessary,
 unfortunately.and am now getting projects
 completed. I cycled a 2100 mah
pack , recently, which I purchased roughly a year
 ago and have not touched
IT or the other products like Volz servo's and
another RX pack from a local
hobby store, and it cranked out a wopping 510mah
 after a 24 hour trickle
charge. I then re-cycled it for another 24 hours and
 it really jumped BIG
TIME to 710mah!!! Its a 2100 mah pack
The other pack I purchased from a hobby store cycled
 up close to where it
should be and has been working quite well. I asked a
 friend regarding this
matter and He felt one of the cells went bad. I
 phoned BATTERIES AMERICA to
have someone tell me I am a big boy and I NEED to
 accept REALITY, in
that, its been over a year and thats that. I told
 them I understand , BUT,
the pack has NEVER EVER been cycled...EVER. They
 claimed that I am not
being realistic, as I agreed it has been a year BUT
 I am honest and have
NEVER touched the battery or cycled it EVER. I
 re-coiled and stated back at
them then your telling me that NONE of your packs
 haven't sat on the
shelves for a year...TWO...or more?? How am I
 to know they didn't ship
me a 2100 mah RX pack that hasn't been collecting
 dust on their shelves for
a year or two or three He said THAT is
 immaterial...I asked how? I
asked can you tell me right now that ALL your packs
are LESS than a year old
and all cells used to put the packs together? He
 bobbled about only to
say how its NOT THE SAME POINT , its immaterial to
 my point and matter and
He can't state they ONLY have batteries put together
 in less than 12 months.
What a joke of a company...I have had other
problemss and have read some of
your guys' NIGHTMARE dealings with these people. I
am the one to blame as i
should not have done any business with these people
 after the humiliating
conversations and lack of prodcing a product
 accurate with its description
and expected performance. For a measely 20-30 bux
 they lost a LOYAL and
 HONEST customer.

BTW...the VOLZ servos and the DS368's from Johnny
 Berlin fired up GREAT and
the other battery I purchased that sat around until
 I recovered from my
painful nightmare cycled up and is working very
well. I just don't get it.
How petty are these people and what TERRIBLE
 business practices they have. I
recently sent in a $30+ servo I bought from JR that
 stripped out and they
replaced it with a NEW ONE...no questions asked.
How can a 2100 mah battery
that was NEVER cycled by the buyer be so bad after
 sitting in my drawer
awaiting my recovery? I wonder how much people
 like this TIP a
 WAITRESS or WAITER after dinnerhow
 straight-up LAME and CHEAP! I
will NEVER buy a THING from them EVER AGAIN.

Thanks for the bandwith and sorry you guys had to
 hear me piss moan and
 groan! :O)

For what its worth there has to be a better place to
 find GOOD quality
 batteries at competitive pricesBATTERIES AMERICA
 has a serious problem
with QUALITY of some of their productsI know
 because THIS is not the
first time a complaint has been logged on here
 reporting this kind of
situation. What babbling idiot I sound
 likeyikes! :) Thanks for
 reading/listening to this pathetic story!

Re: [RCSE] Power System for Wind Dancer

2005-09-30 Thread Stephen Hamm
I recommend a geared Hacker B20-15L turning an 11x6 to
11x8,powered by a narrow 2100mah 3S LiPo,such as the
Thunderpower.I have this setup on a Pulsar and it is
very strong and light.Even lighter(but a little less
powerful) would be the geared B20-12L with a 2S LiPo
and the same prop.

It's a little pricey,but hey,you didn't scrimp on the
plane. ;)

RE: [RCSE] gliderworld1 - Poor salesmanship

2005-07-17 Thread Stephen Hamm
The neutral feedback doesn't affect his
percentage.Responding with a negative does,and is more
than a little spiteful in my book. While the shipping
price is clearly stated in the auction, maybe the buyer
thought he was getting a book, justifying the expense.

BTW,charging exorbitant shipping prices to bypass or
recover ebay fees is against ebay rules, but done
frequently.

Back on topic, who is Gliderworld1,and was the
information supplied worthwhile?What upstart/highstart
is supplied in the $29 package on the gliderworld1
website?

After leaving gliderworld1 a NEUTRAL feedback at
 ebay, he retaliates by
leaving a NEGATIVE feedback for leaving a simple
 comment on outrageous ($8)
shipping charges for a first class letter.

Nope, he didn't bother to resolve this before
 sending the negative, either.

Gliderworld1, I am still open to resolve. A simple
 apology for the NEGATIVE
is all that is required. Do you know how to do that?

Re: [RCSE] Slope Sites in Western NC

2005-07-06 Thread Stephen Hamm
The Lump, also known as Tom Dooley(Deulah?)Overlook is
around mile marker 265 on the Blue Ridge
Parkway. You'll need a South,East or Southeast wind to
fly there.Southwest maybe. You will be 2-3 hours away
from The Lump.Head toward Boone and hit the Parkway
somewhere around Boone.DON'T take the Parkway all the
way or it will be a LONG,slow ride(although very
pretty)

Warning:Off Topic! I was just in the Fontana Lake area
a few weeks ago motorcycle riding.Spectacular roads
for riding.Cherohala Skyway,Deals Gap(HWY 129),74
around the Nantahala River,HWY 28,etc. etc..

If you can't find a slope,rent a bike!

--- Randy Bullard [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I don't know why nobody else has answered this since
as far as I know other
people still fly there and I don't.

When I lived in NC, I flew The Lump near North
 Wilkesboro. I think it's
highway 16, but just go north from town and take a
 left once you get the
Blue Ridge Parkway. Follow the Parkway for few miles
 and there will be a
parking lot in front of a large grassy hill. Park
 there, hike up the hill
and fly till you drop. In the summer, lift will be
 there until after dark.
You will need a short high start to get your plane
 over the tall trees in
 front.

If there is lift, there is always somebody flying
 there on the weekend and
 often during the week.

Re: [RCSE] Hobby Horse

2005-04-21 Thread Stephen Hamm
OK,I ordered an Evo 9(w/scanner) from them a couple of
months ago. This was a few months after Evos were being
advertised in the mags as shift selectable. When mine
arrived it was not shift selectable.I emailed Hobby
Horse about the ads I had been reading, and the lack of
shift selectability. The only option I was given was to
buy the interface cable ($40).I knew that I could send
the radio in to Hitec for the upgrade, but chose to buy
the cable(from Sirius). You would think the dealer
would know this.

I knew about the software issue,so it was no biggie to
me.If I had not known,and purchased a $600 radio,only
to be told it would cost an additional $40 to make it
work,I would have been ill.

I have purchased many servos from Hobby Horse in the
last few years, some rather expensive.I will not buy
more from them.
