[RCSE] Clear servo covers

2008-06-16 Thread Steve Gibson
Who sells the clear servo covers with a medium size blister for open class
ships? I bought a few three or four years ago but can't remember who sold
them to me. I like being able to look at the servo without taking the cover
off.
Thanks,
S Gibson

[RCSE] RC Hall of Fame - Antique radio collection

2008-02-13 Thread Steve Gibson
If you want to take a great trip back in time for RC radios, go to
www.rchalloffame.org

Ed Crotty, out of Ohio, has put together a collection of over a 1300 radios. (
that is right, one thousand three hundred radios !) The site has pictures of
almost every manufacturers radios made in the USA since the 1950's. I have
spent at least a couple of hours looking over this vast collection. He also
has documentary style comments on several radios and important people in the RC
radio industry. If you started flying RC in the late 60's or early 70's, the
site is a real trip down memory lane !

I would like the wing sox instead of a refund. I opened a dispute with Paypal
just in case.

[RCSE] JR 8103 programming guide

2004-04-11 Thread Steve Gibson
A few months ago, somebody was preparing a new programming guide for the JR
8103 transmitter. As I remember, the initial guide had a nice drawing of
the 8103 transmitter with the locations and functions of all the switches.
I can't remember who was preparing the guide.

Does anybody know who the author is or if the guide finished ? Maybe a URL
where it can be downloaded?

I already have Sherman Knights guide. I simply would like another source.
Thanks,
Steve

[RCSE] Bottom hinged, top actuated flaps, Why?

2004-02-28 Thread Steve Gibson
Why do the designers go with bottom hinged, but top actuated flaps? Why
complicate things on setup geometry and cutting holes in wings.
Isn't a bottom hinged, bottom actuated flap just as effective and easier to
install?

[RCSE] Replacement BOT ARF received today-Still wrong

2003-09-24 Thread Steve Gibson

I received my replacement Bird-of-Time ARF from
Tower today. I was curiousto see ifDynaflight corrected the
spar shear web construction.

No surprise, the grain of the shear web is still
running horizontal to the spar instead of running perpendicular to
thespar.

Instead of sending it back, I think I will strip
the monokote, correct the shear web problem, strengthen the spar box, put
spoilers in the BOT and cover in a different color of monokote.

Anybody have any other suggestions?

[RCSE] Tower replaced my BOT ARF

2003-09-22 Thread Steve Gibson

Tower received my defective BOT ARF on 9/15 ( Bad
Spar). I got home today and there is was a new BOT ARF complete kit at my
doorstep.

I don't know if this wing is constructed
differently from the original. I may peel back the covering to
see.

Has anybody checked a replacement of this kit
yet?

If it is the same as the original. I will beef it
up and add spoilers.

[RCSE] I need a new Hi-Start

2003-09-12 Thread Steve Gibson

If I go to the field by myself, I need to buy a
Hi-start. I want a quality hi-start that will launch an Atemis or NYX but
will also launch a wood wing Bird of Time. I assume I just don't stretch
the hi-start as far for a BOT.

I need recomendations for a really quality hi-start
that has all of the components. I don't want to shop for each component of
the hi-start from different suppliers.

Thanks in advance,
Steve Gibson

[RCSE] Bird Of Time ARF ( Dynaflight)

2003-09-02 Thread Steve Gibson

Just got off of the phone with Tower Hobbies
Customer Service(1-217-398-0007) about the problems with the Dynaflight BOT ARF
design defect in the wing center section.
Since I bought the plane from Tower, they verified
my purchase via my Tower customer number. They are sending me a postage
pre-paid sticker where I can send the remains of the plane and they will either
issue you a credit or I believe you can get back in line for the re-designed BOT
(Should be out in 60 days or so). I don't know if you can just get a
refund.

2003-06-07 Thread Steve Gibson

Thanks to everybody who responded to my email about
buying the aluminum transmitter box.
Went to two Lowes. Both said they didn't have
it and had never seen it. A youngemployee then walked up and said,
"we have about twenty of them in boxes, near, not in the tool area." The
cases were in cardboard boxes so it was easy to overlook them. Most of the
other toolboxes were not in cardboard boxes. They were out on full
display.

I am getting back into soaring and already own an 8103. I read the JR

Futaba. I'm do not want the Futaba programming book.

[RCSE] Super V's

2000-09-03 Thread Steve Gibson

The Super V line by Mark Levoe must still be a competitive plane even though
it was designed several years ago. Everytime I see one offered for sale of
the exchange, it seems to go very fast. I sold a 100 inch and a two meter
back in March and had several offers to buy both of them. My question is -
Why aren't these planes still being built for new sales even if Levoe
doesn't have the time. I would suspect that NSP or Slegers could get the
molds and sell a ton of Super v's
