Re: [RCSE] Sailplane Carry Case
SporTube Shortest Length: I measured the double snowboard SporTube at a length of 43.5 inches when telescoped together as short as possible. Incidentally, I recently purchased a double snowboard SporTube for $59.93 at the Recreational Equipment Incorporated flagship store in Seattle on April 4. (The regular REI price is listed as $129.95). They only had one left at the flagship Seattle store. I asked if they had anymore hidden in the back but the salesperson said "no". I did not ask if any other REI stores had any SporTubes. John Elliott (Seattle) At 08:16 PM 4/10/02 EDT, you wrote: >I know that shipping and sturdy cases for models are an on-going topic. Re: [RCSE] Re:tip stall tape
Does this tap go on the top or bottom of the airfoil? Also, does this tape method have a different aerodynamic theory behind it than a Gurney flap? (Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a Gurney flap is a rectangular cross-section stick glued to the trailing edge on the bottom of the airfoil.) -John Elliott At 04:56 AM 1/9/02 -, you wrote: >Stack three or foup plies of masking tape (you'll have to experiment to find >the right thickness and location) and cut the zig-zag with pinking shears. >You can leave the back side straight as it is the front that does the >turbulating. Re: [RCSE] Spectre VR help
I had the same question on the Spectre 2M. Joe Hahn of DJ Aerotech answered this by email as follows. >>When joining the wing halves the instructions >>say to wrap a 1" wide piece of fiberglass around >>the wing center section and then after this has >>set wrap a 3" wide piece of the carbon cloth >>around the center section. However, wouldn't >>it be better to put the carbon on before the >>fiberglass since that would keep the carbon >>flatter and give more strength? > >You bring up a very good point, however we've found that either method is >fine---we have prototypes flying both ways, so in reality it really doesn't >matter. > >Joe >DJ Aerotech At 10:30 PM 7/7/00 -0700, you wrote: >I am building a VR (Thanks to Johnny Berlin) and have >run into a discrepancy between the written instructions and >the plans. > >It is with step # 4 and #5 of the "WING" section. > >The written instructions say to apply 1/2 inch fiberglass >tape over the wing joint (step#4) then the 1 1/2 wide, 1 1/2 >long carbon cloth weave (step#5) > >The picture on the plans show the carbon cloth weave going on before the >fiberglass tape. > >Which is correct? > >Stephen Cheung ><[EMAIL PROTECTED]> RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
