[RCSE] Re:F3J is not for me...or my Pikes :-(

2005-05-30 Thread Jo Grini
Well does not matter if it is F3X or whatever. The tree elephants are
cruel... Today one of them jumped out and grabbed my Pike while I was
fiddling with my camera to get some landing shots. But 30min in the workshop
made it happy again (it is and will always be a comp. model so a scratch or
two is ok..)

I dont have any fancy car but got to testdrive and testfit my modelbox here
the other day.

But I think I would rather buy some more planes than a new car.
Oh btw it is brand new (the car). 500 built each year. Richard Hammond was
going to have this color (ordered a few days after) but they dont produce
two similar cars so he had to choose something else...

F3whatever can be frustrating and expensive. They are great events, but
you
really need to be ...committed. Sorry to hear that you had a less that
optimal

event.

OTOH, we all had a great time in Tullahoma flying RES and Unl in flat air
with Chuckie, Kendall, Flyin Brian, Herbie, the Clevelands, the Hotlanta
guys,

and a cast of thousands (or at least several).

It's not every day I get to share air with Royce Salmon, and I cherish the
opportunity. The best part of soaring competition is that guys who are
seasoned

still show up and give us the pleasure of their company. Include guys like
Ron Swinehart, Russ Behr, Rex Powell, it's just too good to miss.

My thrill for the day was when Martha let me drive her Mercedes SLK AMG.
0-60 in under 4 seconds, and great comfort is a hoot. Very tight and flat
in the

corners, well polished. She got the car that she deserves. Chuckie still
hasn't let me drive his old 'Vette, so I'm gonna have to keep going back
for

more.

It would have to be a Mercedes SLR to be doing 0-60 in sub 4... 8-)

(I could do 4.3 sec. 0-60's fairly repeatedly on my old SuperCar tires on
my Z06 with little to no traction in first, and getting a good shift to
second. I need to try out the new shoes I just put on it.)

Funny you mentioned the Morgan, as I was reading about interesting cars this
morning and the Morgan came up. Very cool car! gv
