Re: [RCSE] Do Not Quick Charge??
Raymond, Not having the latest/best and not having any problem, I would have discharged the pack and then [fast]charged it. Twice or three times if it had been sitting longer. Is that true?? when you use a battery not all the cells discharge at the same rate. When you fast charge this uneven-ness doesn't get leveled out. So each time you discharge the battery you get a little more uneven-ness. So... one day you charge up the battery and start flying one of the cells is only partly charged... so it falls off first and early... BANG one dead model. Fast charging is OK as long as you do a nice long slow charge occasionally. My transmitter bettery in my Futaba FF7 super is getting on for 10 years old including 3 years of complete non-use and still getting the same capacity as it always did. Re: [RCSE] Do Not Quick Charge??
Raymond, I am sorry about your loss of a plane. About your question, depends on which charger. A charger could have a poor end-of-charge algorithm, and thus overheat the cell anddamage them. You mentioned 2 months in your toolbox. Are in the habit of leaving your toolbox in your car, where itmay getvery hot during the day? Exposure to high temperatures has been known to shorten the life of NiCds. Whan I have battery that I had sitting for a while, I run a slow charge on it, just in case.
