Re: RE: Google Earth Pro 3D data or similar? edit - Terrain Generators Q?
Hi Morten I recently got back into Terragen. The render quality is very nice, node based, and seems to handle a lot of formats quite well. The Pro Version with Animation module comes with 5 Rendernodes. Pricing for Pre-Order V3 with maintanence (which includes free update to V4 when it comes out) is $700 / 680 Euro. At www.terragen4.com you can see some examples of what is to come. Can`t give you real production value advice but planetside.co.uk is going to release version 4 by the end of June as they say. If you go to their forum you could get in touch with the developers easily. They are around quite frequently over their. Together with World Machine it makes a very good combo. If you already made up your mind, nevermind ;) cheers, Klaus >Ursprüngliche Nachricht >Von : x...@colorshopvfx.dk >Datum : 18/05/2016 - 16:07 (GMT) >An : softimage@listproc.autodesk.com >Betreff : RE: Google Earth Pro 3D data or similar? edit - Terrain >Generators Q? > >Thanks again for all the good advice. Thanks again for all the good advice. World Machine and GeoGlyph it is then - GeoGlyph looks awesome. And I hear you Jordi regarding huge datasets and all that - I have been creating terrain stuff manually adding some Mudbox here and there up until now, but we would like to take things up a step or two and by the looks of it, WM and GeoGlyph will save me a ton of time even when I just need a quick terrain done :) //Morten > Den 18. maj 2016 klokken 14:23 skrev Marc-Andre Carbonneau >: > > > Have you checked out Quadspinner? Re: Google Earth Pro 3D data or similar? edit -> Terrain Generators Q?
I am afraid it is very ad-hoc altogether, a combination of World Machine, Vue, Zbrush and some clever tricks is simply critical if you want to do sophisticated terrains and there is close to no literature on the subject. I did a job recently with 6km by 6km Swiss range of mountains (pretty amazing) and resolution to 1m that we did some extra resampling to go down every further and the datasets are so huge it is scary. Looked great, happy with the results, the process without the help of an expert would have been a total nightmare so it is on my to-do list of course but believe me when I say you are going to spend a ton of time finding out things, from formats to workflows… jb > On 18 May 2016, at 10:58, adrian wyerwrote: > > i really like world machine, and it's definitely worth springing for the > geoglyph plugins... you can make really amazing terrain, it behaves like > ice, and what you get out is as many hi res maps as you can deal with, so no > compatibility issues... > > a > > -Original Message- > From: softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com > [mailto:softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com] On Behalf Of Morten > Bartholdy > Sent: 18 May 2016 10:51 > To: softimage@listproc.autodesk.com > Subject: Re: Google Earth Pro 3D data or similar? edit -> Terrain Generators > Q? > > Apologies for the email mishaps - here is a proper one. > > Along slightly different lines but related, what do you guys prefer to > create realistic looking landscape geometry? i really like world machine, and it's definitely worth springing for the geoglyph plugins... you can make really amazing terrain, it behaves like ice, and what you get out is as many hi res maps as you can deal with, so no compatibility issues... a -Original Message- From: softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com [mailto:softimage-boun...@listproc.autodesk.com] On Behalf Of Morten Bartholdy Sent: 18 May 2016 10:51 To: softimage@listproc.autodesk.com Subject: Re: Google Earth Pro 3D data or similar? edit -> Terrain Generators Q? Re: Ice particles' direction and local animation space
I don't think point-location is what you need at the bottom left because that location is referenced to the point cloud. You need to get closest location on the static object and reinterpret it to the moving one. However, I am not sure why its the top half of the tree that's Red and erroring though. Interesting video. I have managed to handle the "Reinterpret location to new geometry" node , in order to stick a non-skinned character to a rigged character. But now I need to have particles running along the arm. So I'm trying to re-build a particle Ice Tree on top of the geometry Ice Tree, but it does not work... In the attached file : I'm getting errors. What am I doing wrong?
