I agree with Benoit, it looks like you've configured both the eth0 and ppp0
connection as
your default route. The eth0 is connecting first and ppp0 can't replace it.
Read the
scripts in /etc/sysconfig/network and see if you can figure it out.
Sorry for my terse message before, I was in a rush, on my way out. I'm glad you
were able
to solve the problem with speedmgmt.

Hi André!

This is a usual problem. I think you configure your eth0 interface to
have a default route over it (which is wrong). In this case, pppd is no
longer adding a default router over ppp0 and thus you have no internet
connection.

hi andrew,

thank you for the hint, yes speedmgmt was my error! i removed it, logs
look better now and i am able to connect to the internet.

but i still have troubles with my twisted pair cable connection between
the linux machine and a win laptop. i use and need this to ensure
internetconnection for both machines, the one with the ADSL-connection
acting as DHCP server for the other one. if this cable is conneced, the
other windows machine up (doing its DHCP job), i got the nice looking
log below, but no internet connection. it waits on eth0 for it...

has eth0 (via /etc/sysconfig/network/config/) any priority over the
usb-adsl connection (and its /etc/resolv.conf) or is it the
SuSEfirewall2 responsible for this behaviour?

btw, no, speetmgmt didn't come with suse 9.2! looking around for a
solution i tried that one and forgot it in the installed list...

thx and greetings from tyrol/austria

Who installed speedmgmt? Did it come installed with SuSE 9.2?
