Same underlying issue: Your old copy is still running. Make sure you
it's shut down properly before you try the update. And make sure you run
the update with administrative privileges.

The logs are already textfiles , the link on LMS webpage also presents
the file path .

You can use finder to copy and zip the original log files .

But the newer LMS versions also has the feature bpa mentioned a link
that downloads the logs into a zip file.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer-7.9.1-1502118993.exe Not installing correctly

2017-08-07 Thread ralphpnj

The latest nightly build (LogitechMediaServer-7.9.1-1502118993.exe) is
not installing correctly. I am getting two major errors that are
preventing LMS from installing and running:

First - the installer keeps saying that it cannot install file
squeezeboxcp.exe - retry does nothing and ignore leaves LMS unable to
start

Second - the installer keeps saying that it cannot install file
squeezetray.exe - retry does nothing and ignore leaves LMS unable to
start

In both cases the installer states that the file already exists and
deleting both files before running the installer only creates the exact
same problem.

Help! Please!

UPDATE: I have now created a playlist folder on Raspberry
(/mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/slimserver/Cache/LMS playlists) and changed its
permissions to octal 0777 (just in case!) using WINSCP. Pointed LMS at
the folder, scanned, created a playlist and saved it. All good, it
works. Have now transferred all m3u files from ReadyNAS playlist folder
to the new one on Raspberry, rescan, all good, every working as it
should!

Lesson from this: even if media library is external set the playlist
folder up on the pCP bootdisk.

chmod.even with root permission.

Add. uid=1001,gid=50 To the mount options.

You can't change permissions, etc. in pCP using winSCP because you don;t
have root rights. You have to use the command line with sudo

Server - Raspberry pi3 running pCP 3.21 and LMS 7.9.1.
Media library stored on ReadyNAS Duo V2. LMS pointed at media library.
Playlists stored on ReadyNAS Duo V2. LMS pointed at playlist folder.

"everyone" has full control. When I check permissions with WINSCP via

The log is unreliable and if not edited then something is very strange
with your system - as if multiple LMS are running. If not sorted then no
point in trusting the log.

The log seems to show data has been sent to player - it's wating in the
player but then the opayer has underrun which means there is not enough
data in the player. This might be normal for the "streaming MP3" but it
seems to indcate the problem is in the "player" side but don't trust

2017-08-07 Thread Michael Herger

One observation. I also have LMS 7.9 installed on by Win 10 machine with
a copy of the library. (Yes - I do run a test on this before committing
it to the Home Server.) Most of the time I don't have any players
connected, and I notice that the main menu in the web interface has
extra options when I start the server - "Random Albums", "Top Tracks",
"Flop Tracks" and "Disks and folders". If I connect a player, such as
SqueezePlay, and refresh, these four items disappear. This is odd, but
not any problem at all, I just mention it in case it is a symptom of
something.

Yeah, that behaviour can be confusing: those are new menu options
provided by the "Additional Browse Modes" plugin. By default most of
them are disabled. If you're interested in any of those options, go to
Settings/Player/Additional Browse Modes.

sox is used for resampling ansd you said you installed a new version fo
sox that is why I used the example. In your context it is not clear
whether the transcoding chain runs.

48kbitss/ec files can be sent to player without conversion as long as it
is 16 bit, I think if the flac file is 24 bit then it may need some
trasncoding.

You need to look at your log in more detail not the fragment you sent.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3

2017-08-07 Thread Eric Seaberg

I'll look again. I don't think the problem is resampling as I've always
been able to play 48k files on other devices. Again the odd thing is
that iPeng on my iPhone plays everything fine. I did also try a xilix
update on the Transporter and nothing changed. This is extremely odd as
it has worked.

There's really no reason to do transcoding with the exception of
streaming to an SB3 at my office. I have plenty of bandwidth on both
ends to play native FLAC files and may just have to leave it there.

Thanks for the replies. As I get more time this week/weekend I'll try
it again and submit more content from the log. One other thing I just
thought of, I did an OS update about a week ago to OS 10.12.6 which
could've broken some pipes. Not sure how I could revert except to
restore from an older backup set. May try that as well.

Thanks again.

2017-08-07 Thread Pinou

Hi Michael,

I've tried several version. LMS is installed on my NAS (synology).
Therefore I've tied with "official" version and beta (v7.9.0-164) and
actually I'm running the LMSRepack 7.9.1-1494667952.
Yesterday I've also tried with a docker image
(larsks/logitech-media-server) and I've the same behavior. I really
don't understand why this seems to suddenly appear whereas nothing has
changed in my environment. If you want me to do some
testing/traces/logs, just tell me ;)
Many thanks.

Where is your Playlist folder stored?

Remind us what your setup is, LMS is running where, your music files are
where?

This sounds like a can't write to this location problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3

2017-08-07 Thread bpa

You have only sent tiny fragement of conversion - chopping the
importantt beginning lines and trailing lines. As a general rule for
logs it is best to copy iunto a text file, zip and attach to a post.
Also sometimes message that are missing are a clue to the error - by
editing the log that context is lost.

When a transcode fails it is usuall logged as something like "end of
file" - as you have have not included the success and/or failure of
trasncode - I don't know what is happening.

That said

I see two conversion.

Code:

  17-08-06 17:10:38.7027] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand 2
(446) Matched: flc->mp3 via: [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame]
--silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - -

and

Code:

  17-08-06 16:52:19.8802] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand 2
(446) Matched: flc->mp3 via: [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame]
--silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - -

What do you means "FLAC is installed properly"LMS supplies Falc as
part of the paackage - any 3rd party install of Flac is unliely to
work.

The above two conversion are Flac->lame and Flac->sox. Your post does
not make it clear which one works.

Can you run the flac, sox and lame that are in the LMS Bin directories
(the directories with Bin in the Helper application folder as listed in
WebUI Settings/Information) NOT in any other directory and what is the
version of each.

This usually means you got temporarily blocked because of too many

figured out what triggered the issue. But sometimes LMS would send
hundreds or thousands of login attempts within minutes.

Are you running 7.9.0 or more recent? I tried to mitigate the problem.
But I'm not sure whether it has been resolved really.
