Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.2 does not start on Readynas ultra pro 4
Just tried to reinstall the LMS 8.0.0 and it seemed like it was working until I rebooted the NAS. So I uninstalled LMS 7.7, installed 8.0.0 and successfully connected to LMS web interface but all the images were broken. Ok, here's what I've found. The change which I could imagine could potentially cause this crash is an update to the Audio::Scan library from 6 years ago... You could try to use the version from 7.7. But that would involve quite some tinkering... Would you be able and willing to replace a bunch of files as the root user on your NAS? (and you'd have to do this after every update!) I do understand that you don't want to throw away an otherwise perfectly working device. But that's not the point of using a Raspberry Pi to run LMS. It's actually the exact setup I have in my office: I gave up running LMS on my ReadyNAS Duo v2. But that same old NAS is still serving the music files, handling TimeMachine etc. Running LMS on the Pi has the advantage that you'll be running it on a device which is actively supported (because I use it ;-)), and might actually improve performance overall as a side effect, allowing you to take advantage of plugins and features which might not have run on the NAS with its limited resources. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Duplicating Library
Overnight, when the server re-scans for changed media, it finds the songs on my local network at it's web-address location \\Servername\Server Folders\Music. I do not run any separate web-enabled servers anymore (eg: SubSonic or the like.) Make sure you don't have any playlists (in a playlist folder and/or just the music folders) pointing to these paths. LMS wouldn't make them up, but something is telling it to go look there. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Duplicating Library
Hi All! I've seen a few variations on this issue, but haven't seen this iteration. I'm running LMS 8.0.0 - 1603391272 on Windows Server 2016. In my setup, I have my music folder on it's local address P:\Server Folders\Music. LMS finds all the files, and the world is good. I've deleted and re-scanned, and upon completion of it's initial scan, I have the correct amount of songs, and single entries for each one. Overnight, when the server re-scans for changed media, it finds the songs on my local network at it's web-address location \\Servername\Server Folders\Music. I do not run any separate web-enabled servers anymore (eg: SubSonic or the like.) How can I tell LMS to ignore anything except the local file address? I noticed some discussion of modifying the server.prefs file, but unsure if that will work for a network location. I'm sure there's a simple fix I'm just missing... Thanks in advance for your help! -Andy andybflo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113119 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

There can be difficulty building programs like sox for NAS systems as they needs libraries of specific version etc. I think check out posts by pinkdot as I think they have up to date knowledge of synology and LMS. Did a bit more digging, and I found that there is a more recent version (developed by Ralph, v1.9.7) which has built-in opus support. Native support for opus on squeezelite should remove the need for transcoding from Flac to opus, bypassing the issue that SOX doesn't support opus on the synology right? Would still be good to get opus support on sox on the synology I guess, in case a player is ever added that doesn't support opus :) Hawkeyenl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113113 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Mycroft.ai - LMS skill
Hello I have started to work with Mycroft.ai and I would like to make it to project to build an LMS skill. Currently Max2Play is running on one RPI3 and Picroft is running on another. Even though Picroft is python oriented, I would definitely prefer to use the API supported in the main distro. Can any one help me with that? Popped into my head again today ... and I did a bit more research and stumbled upon "emscripten" which can port from C (and others) to JavaScript. I wonder if a reduced functionality version of Squeezelite (eg always requiring LMS to transcode to something easyish to handle in JavaScript) would be feasible. Am tempted to take a look but it is a long way from areas I have experience in. https://emscripten.org/docs/porting/guidelines/portability_guidelines.html#code-portability-guidelines Any experts with thoughts? Also note that others have recently reported playback issues with the YouTube plugin - so do make sure that what you are playing really is the same on different devices (working v not working) eg does YouTube offer different encoding for same material and plugin/LMS picks a different one based on expected capabilities of the player? Hi Michael. Thanks for your reply. I see your point. But tbh I don't really understand why should I change the hardware (ie Netgear NAS) that is fully working and fits all my needs pretty well. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.2 does not start on Readynas ultra pro 4
I did try upgrading LMS server from 7.6.3 to 7.9.3 on my prehistoric Netgear ReadyNas Ultra 2 and it didn't work. LMS didn't start. 7.9.4 beta and 8.0.0 didn't start after the installation either. I rolled back to 7.7 and it worked fine for me. Any thoughts? Is the older Netgear stuff no longer supported? Hmm... I wouldn't know what is breaking it. Just recently had feedback by a user of a Sparc(!) based ReadyNAS who was running LMS8. That's even older than yours. Is there anything in the server.log? TBH. I'm rather going to remove the ReadyNAS builds than fix them. It just doesn't make sense to support devices from a decade ago, but nothing more recent... Raspberry Pi is the way to go, if you want to continue to use your NAS as just a NAS, and leave the LMS duty to something more up-to-date and working. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

This is a no-op under systemd, but would have the effect of starting LMS as late as possible on the "SysV-style init" used on Debian/Ubuntu. It's never adversely impacted my usage of LMS, but clearly some systems do suffer. I've started a thread -sytemd service file for LMS-, https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113114-systemd-service-file-for-LMS, with the intention of taking matters forward, if there's any interest. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112185 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] (Some) music not playing on (some) players
Hey all, I've been reading posts on this forum for some time since I started using LMS, and I'm impressed by all the help & knowledge provided on this forum! Unfortunately, I have a need for a help thread myself since yesterday. I've installed the latest LMS 8.0 build on my Synology DS212+, which installed just fine. I can see my music files in the library, and I've setup the Youtube plugin as well. I can play music from YouTube fine on my Google Mini Nest (using the chromecast bridge plugin), but when I try to play the same music on my RPi-squeezelite the songs just keep skipping immediately. I've checked the logs, I can't find anything going wrong in the YouTube plugin logging. I see the same symptom when playing music files from the NAS itself. When playing a radio stream, it plays fine on the squeezelite player. The NAS resources are not 100%, but when trying to play a YouTube-stream I can see that the NAS is (at least trying to) processing the stream (+- 150 kb/s download, cpu goes up to 80%, memory usage increases). I suspect the NAS is having an issue with certain filetypes or the like, but I don't have enough knowledge on LMS to figure out what is going on. Is there anybody that can give me some clues as to what could be wrong? I'm happy to provide any information that could help with figuring this out. Thanks in advance!!! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Synology via docker?
I just bought a Synology on Prime Day. (The original shipment was lost, so I had to get a replacement and only started setting it up this weekend.) I started using the apnar LMS container, and it was ok; it popped up a message that there was now a LMS community Docker that I like a little bit better. It keeps the config out of the container, which I'd bolted on to the first one I tried, but the community container is a bit easier to use. In both cases, I was able to get it running without any problems. I'm on DSM 6.2.3-25426 update 2, if that helps you. flacpilot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113011 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS using 30% of CPU
Its using 30% to 40% of CPU and 2Gb of memory while idle. Is this typical? No. Please give some more information about the plugins you're using. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Small Album Artwork Question
In the web GUI, under Extras, there's a menu item to display album artwork below 300 pixels. That's a feature of the Music & Artist Info plugin. They are located at : http://myserver:9000/music/942d8340/cover That's not their "location", but the URL given by LMS. LMS then would read that artwork from either a file found for that track, or the track's metadata. All my album artwork is greater than this and is stored as a file (album.jpg) in each music folder, so I'm not sure what these cover.jpg files are, where they are located and can they be deleted (if so how)? Check your files. They might have artwork embedded into the music file. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
