The little arrow by server info that appears in the client only prompts me to download a new release, when I'm sure there used to be some sort of release contents info with a link to the changelog, but the memories are hazy ... I guess you're using the Material skin? You could ask Craig to add a link or something. I'd actually not be surprised if that feature already existed, but in a less obvious way. I don't send out announcements. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Where can we request a feature update? To add 'sort by time added'
Can we request for the feature to be considered in the future LMS release? There's the "New Music" menu - which is limited to albums, though. For artists there currently is no concept of a timestamp, as they're usually part of an album. With online music integration this concept indeed slightly changed. As for feature requests: this forum is one place. You could also use Github, trying to gather support (votes) for your idea. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 'Sleep at end of song' "bug"?
Would my suggestion to add a second to the sleep time be practical? Don't know. I'd have to test this. I could imagine that in some use cases this could lead to new issues. Eg. some plugins trigger actions when a track ends etc. The fact that this seems to be intermittent makes me wonder whether there's simply some calculation (rounding) error somewhere. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 'Sleep at end of song' "bug"?
And yes, with an MBA I well-understand the principles of 'supply and demand'. But you should also be aware of the 'silent majority'. This is the large portion of the population who don't complain unless something really serious has affected them. For minor niggles they just 'grin and bear it'. And for many less technical people, they might even think 'this is how sleep-at-end-of-song is supposed to work.' I'm glad you understand this is an issue not worth caring about by the vast (silent or not) majority. My engineering/programming background tells me otherwise, and I'm not timid about asking organisations to fix their mistakes (in this case, asking generous individuals to fix their predecessors' mistakes!). My pleas sometimes fall on deaf ears, but just as often (maybe more often) find a sympathetic ear backed by a conscience. I would be happy to track down every single issue and fix it. But as you can imaging development resources are very limited. Unless I see at the very least a hand full of complaints for an issue which is said to have been around for more than a decade, I have to move on to stuff which has a bigger impact on more users. Feel free to submit a bug report on Github. I might get back to it, but can't promise anything. Thanks for your understanding. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Deleting music from HDD of Squeezebox server
The changes look right - at least they match that forum post. Are there any logs on the Vortexbox server showing the lookup attempt when ripping? Can the log level be increased? Assuming there is no problem with Linux text file line endings (I do not remember if Perl on Linux automatically supports Windows text line endings or if WinSCP sniffs the content and converts on the fly - but would be the next thing to look at if things are really strange) then another way that might work, given this is LMS underneath, would be to rip the CD on a local computer using software that supports creating the tags and then simply put the resulting files on the server. Hi Thanks for your reply Openhabs UI isn't that bad just that instead of buidling all connections and stuff needed for fully controlling a device is easier said than done, and my wife seems to find it more logical to use the musicplayer app to control musik players. I use squeezer andoid app to do controll music, and connection between LMS and Openhab works great for easier tasks power off device or nexte / previous song change volume etc... And yes I would like the server to send command to an offline server to power on Device, in my case it could be just that wake on lan function will the kick in from openhab. l's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113810 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Yes, I too had concluded that the sleep function, even for 'at end of song', was simply time-based. But no, just adding a second would not be a satisfactory fix. If the following track was ripped from a live album, and started immediately with remnant applause from the previous track (on the CD; not in my playlist, which is shuffled), then the extra second of audio is going to play a brief but abrupt burst of applause, which I would find a very unpleasant way to end a soothing song before sleeping. We need a different way to fix the issue. I suggested one some years ago on this forum, but was laughed out of the house. Essentially it involved maintaining two 'pointers' into the current playlist: 'now playing' and 'next to play'. When 'sleep at end of song' was activated, and the current song came to an end (i.e. LMS went into stop mode), both pointers would be incremented by 1 and stored. So when PLAY is next pressed, it will start from the new 'now playing' track, which is the one following the one that played immediately prior to sleeping. Just one idea; I'm sure the clever programmers maintaining LMS can come up with others. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Where can we request a feature update? To add 'sort by time added'
Hi guys, It's great to see LMS still got updated. Just wondering where can we request new features? I use LMS to play Tidal on my Squeezebox as I found the sound quality is superb! Better than Roon, etc. However LMS does not support Tidal connect and I have to add album/playlist in Tidal mobile app then use LMS to play. However the album/singer/playlist etc are all ordered alphabetically which is actually inconvenient to find out what are the newly added items. Tidal app got tha t feature which is really handy. Can we request for the feature to be considered in the future LMS release? I'm interested in knowing if there is a way to achive that even my offline players apperas in players list in LMS 8.1, the reason beeing It's software, anything can be done :-). But I don't think this is easily possible. After all you not only want to see those players in there, but you also want the server to trigger some action when selecting them. That might be quite a bit of work. that I'm into powersaving and when I power f a player via LMS my automations sytem power off the dedicated hardware,I the use my automations system to wake up device via wake on lan, but I the nedd to first open Openhab app and then LMS app. It would have been really nice to have this feature maybe the shcould be marked as offline in list and be able to accept power on command. Most likely this didn't get the priority you wished, because it doesn't seem to be a popular issue. You seem the only one to be bothered by this... Don't get me wrong: this doesn't mean it's not a bug. But a bug which only one out of a million users bothers is not worth the time spent. Ok, there probably isn't a million users. Darn it, happened again when updating from 11.1 to 11.2. For others that may have this problem: do a reboot of your machine, then restart LMS in your System Preferences pane. Then it should work. I spent hours hacking it so that it ripped straight to my QNAP and read the NAS for LMS and then it lost first the cover art and then the metadata lookups. Its had a stay of execution as it also used to run Plex - files also on NAS - but I've moved that now. I still use it as my production machine as it is running on a powerful HP Microserver with a single SSD for the OS & LMS - its fast! Its at 8.2.something and all the plugins I need work fine. It is however based on an obsolete Fedora so one day when I have some spare time I'm going to wipe the HP, put Centos on it with LMS. I also moved to dbpoweramp for ripping. A while back (last year or so) Vortexbox CD ripper no longer worked because it got its metadata from freedb, and that has essentially been shut down since June 2020. This would guarantee jumping to the next track. I realised this when seeking forward in a track after setting the sleep function. In this case sleep occured around a minute into the next track. So the sleep timer is a simple timer calculated from the remaining time for a track. If this time is a few jiffies short then it will stay on the same track so add a second and Bob's your uncle. Classic is on my desk between the keyboard and the computer monitor. Playlist of 582 tracks is playing. Press the sleep button once, display momentarily shows "Sleeping at end of song". At the end of that track, play stops. *But* - Looking at the playlist in the web gui, as soon as the track finishes, the next track in the list is highlighted (material skin), so if I press the "Play" button on the remote it does actually play the next track. I have repeated this seven times. *Server - LMS 8.2.0 *Pi4B 4GB/Argon one case/pCP v7.0.0 - 74K library, playlists & LMS cache on SSD (ntfs) *Study -* Pi3B/pCP 7.0.0/pi screen/Hifiberry DAC HAT Ruark MR1 Mk2 *Lounge* - Pi2/pCP 6.0.0 > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > AudioEngine DAC1 > AVI DM5 *Garage* - Squeezebox Boom + Fostex sub *Dining Room* - Pi3B/Bluetooth/Echo Show 8 *Spares* - 2xTouch, 1xSB Radio. 1xSB3, 6xRPi kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113835 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

However, the online database that was used (freedb) shut down about six months ago. I don't use my Vortexbox to rip CDs so I can't verify the validity, but you might try 'this tip' (https://www.vortexbox.org/forum/support/3251-cd-ripper-not-identifying-cds?p=3295#post3295). alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113827 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
