Unfortunately that scanner.log and the screenshot are from an online library scan only. In that case the scanner doesn't even look at your local files. As for the numbers in the first screenshot: they don't match anything in the other screenshot. What's below those file type folders? Please enable scanner logging (Settings/Advanced/Logging), scan for new files, then grab the log file again. I finally released Logitech Media Server 8.3.0. It's mostly a maintenance release without any major new features. Oh, hold on... unless you're a Mac user! Apple provided a good reason to get LMS 8.3.0 out: macOS 13 Ventura removed the Perl version we've relied on for about a decade. So, the new feature are: - Support for macOS 13 (native Apple Silicon as well as Intel) But there are a ton of changes, smaller or bigger. Many of which have been contributed by you guys out there. Thanks a lot! A few noteworthy changes: - Updated French, British English, Czech, and Dutch translations. - Improved indexing performance for the Fulltext Search of large playlists (thousands of tracks). - Improved security for the MySqueezebox.com integration. - Improved JavaScript support for the Settings pages in the Classic/Light skin (and thus Material). - More robust https streaming for some very long (but finite) streams and larger files (hires). - ...and so much more you can find in the 'Changelog' (http://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/public/8.3/Changelog8.html#v8.3.0) While I was adding support for Apple's latest CPU I decided to also remove some legacy: PowerPC, Sparc, i386 (Mac), and really old Perl versions are no longer part of the builds. As you can see it says "audioQualit: LOSSLESS". That's what we are
looking for to decide whether a track was available as FLAC or not. We
have to rely on the data we receive to initialise the playback. There's
not much we can do in this case.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Any macOS 11/12 user out there?
Hey fellow macOS users. I'm looking for volunteers to test out new LMS builds for your Mac. Currently we still use an OSX 10.5(!) virtual machine to build our packages. The whole package relies on Perl being installed on your system and obviously doesn't fully support Apple Silicon. (but hey: that machine boots up in seconds!) Apple announced they're going to remove scripting languages from macOS. I think it already happened for php and python... So there's a lot of work to do. In a first step I'm trying to get LMS to run with our own custom build of Perl, which would support Intel and Apple Silicon. I have an experimental build ready for macOS 11+. Any volunteers to give this a try? There's no risk trying it out: it'll use your old preferences, cache etc. And if it didn't work for you, you could simply re-install a regular build to get back into stable land. The next legacy is the preference pane. As I said it's targeted at OSX 10.5. In order to bring it up to speed some macOS dev skills and some time would be required. Or more time with my limited dev skills. I was wondering: would you miss it if we replaced it with a simple application bundle. You'd then have to use the web UI to set paths, sign in to mysb etc. rather than the pref pane. Would that be a loss? I believe that even if there's an AppleScript launching rsync, it's crucial to understand how it is being called. Because there are modes where rsync would run on both ends, both processing data locally, whereas in other cases rsync would only run on the client. In the latter case _all_ data would have to be transferred to the client to be processed there. This would be much slower in most cases, as in the local mode rsync often doesn't even have to look at the files in details, but would only check the modification date. You should install any available update. Some certificates your system provides need an update. See eg. https://letsencrypt.org/docs/certificate-compatibility/. They expired on September 30. @digimaster - can the users of your package select which LMS build they want to use? I'm seeing a surprisingly high number of QLMS users among the early adaptors of LMS 8.3. While this doesn't hurt at this point (there's no difference between 8.3.0 and 8.2.0), there could be times of less stability, where 8.3 will have new/experimental features etc. I believe it would be good if QLMS defaulted to the stable branch. Today I released Logitech Media Server v8.2.0. This release comes with a lot of improvements, not big new features. But many of them address long standing pain points. Yep, this was probably the shortest release cycle in a long time. But I decided to push it a bit to make this Holiday season release 8.1.0. What has changed since the recent '8.0 release' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113282)? Besides bug fixes which there's: - Support for Deezer lossless (FLAC) streaming - Improvements to the transcoding framework to allow protocol handlers to enforce transcoding (eg. TIDAL lossless) - Support for macOS 11 Big Sur and Apple Silicon (M1 CPU - using Rosetta) - Optionally allow installation of plugins which were targeted at Logitech Media Server 7.* Other important changes are the removal of the ReadyNAS NV/Duo/Pro devices, and Perl 5.8 in general. We actually broke Perl 5.8 compatibility somewhere around LMS 7.9.3. These platforms haven't been working correctly since then. Removing them thus doesn't really change anything. ReadyNAS users please note: this is really only about the old, legacy, generation 1/2 Raidiator v4 based devices. Any recent ReadyNAS unit, which was based on Debian, should still continue to work as before. Good or bad. I released Logitech Media Server v7.9.3 to address many minor (and not so...) issues which cropped up since the release of 7.9.2 earlier this year. No new features. At the same time I decided to pull v7.7.x as the "official" release. As no official support can be expected anyway, there's no reason to have that old thing still around. I think I have a bug fix/workaround for this issue in LMS8. It's not perfect, but will hopefully be better than before. The underlying issue is that the sort order for "Ö", "O" would not be the same as for "Österreich", "Ozon", as the locale aware sorting algorithm would take additional characters of a word into account. But when we create the index bar, we only want to have the first character. The workaround I've implemented would do the grouping in LMS code, rather than the database code: after receiving all initial characters of the list in sorted order, it would regroup them. If there was an accented character between their "normal" neighbours (eg. "O, Ö, O" for "Oberland, Österreich, Ozon"), then we'd group them together as "O". Therefore only special version being listed before or after the others would be listed separately. Eg. Grönemeyer's album "Ö" would get its own index character, as there's no album "O" in my list. Worst case the "O..." albums might get grouped into "Ö"... but whatever. It should be more consistent and closer to the expectations. Please give it a try. While the default Perl version is 5.28 (which we don't support yet), 5.18 is still there, and the LMS installer would run perfectly fine. 30840 That's running the latest LMS 7.7. This will still need some tweaking to work out of the box. But there's hope! Many music services provide a "share" feature where you'd get a link to a track/album/playlist. You can now use LMS' "Tune In to URL" feature in the web UI to play such links directly. Just paste links from TIDAL or Deezer (more to come...) in that field to play some nice tunes. Only copy the folder to /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins, not in all these places! I said don't mess with InstalledPlugins... Don't use the -origin URL. The CDN is there to prevent exactly this: if the origin server has an issue, the cache should still be able to serve the request. Plus it's usually faster.
