Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released
Hi, I had LMS 8.1 running on Raspbian 10 Buster (Raspberry 3a with 512Mb ram) with a library of 2k songs. After updating to to 8.3 the server became very slow response, both browsing, pressing buttons, etc. on any interface (defaul web, material skin, ipeng, squeezepad, etc...). 1-2 minutes to open single album, thumbnails take forever to show up, the song progress bar and button press lag some tens of seconds. I reverted back, reinstalling with the same command, to 8.2, but still slow. At last reverting to 8.1.1 the server returned very fast and responsive. I updated/downgraded using the command sudo dpkg -i logitechmediaserver_8.3_arm.deb When I have time I may do a clean install, are there any known incompatibilities with my installed plugins? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released
Thanks for the fix Michael. I installed the 8.3.1 nightly and that starts up just fine. Great! Thanks for the report! Does anyone know how it works with nightlies and final release versions? I found the 8.3.1 here: https://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=8.3 What I'm wondering about is where one could find a final release? https://www.mysqueezebox.com/download And are there disadvantages of staying on the nightly? The 8.3.x is considered the stable branch. Only bug fixes should go in there. So there's little risk a 8.3.1 build would break. There are other Mac issues to iron out. Once I've figured those out I might actually release 8.3.1. Right now 8.3.0 is a bit of a pain to use on Mac, with different issues on different macOS or hardware versions... ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Hi Michael, the server started now. It does give the following warning, Ok, that means that the old Perl (which is still available on your system) would still work. I found this in folder on my PC. (eg8.2.1) 2.Stop existing container 3.Action => Reset 4.Re- Start container That'sit. You are now running updated version of tag of your choice. *NB.*--(Aslong as your current container is properly set up and has configmapped to NAS Docker folder as per setup instructions ) -I have to admit that I didn't remember having it when I upgraded to the stable Image (8.3) and I had quite a few problems getting back to where I was before.-- ian_heys's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2629 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117012 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks to Michael and everything for continued development of LMS :) This question is just a curiosity, no action needed. I am wondering if something changed with player authentication and mysb.com? I ask because I had to do a controller/receiver factory reset on a couple receivers I have after extended idle time. During the process, after using the thumbwheel for my wifi password, the process asked for my mysb.com email address and password, which I don't ever remember being the case in the past. Usually, I would get the registration - register/continue screen. No problem, but using the thumbwheel isn't as easy as typing :) again, just curious. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released
I can start and stop the server without issues. Scanning is working ok. There are entries in Scanner.log But I cannot connect my SB Touch. No entries in the server.log !!! Please check your Mac's security settings, in particular the firewall. That prefpane looks pretty crippled in Ventura, IMHO. I don't see what application's I've granted access or not any more. So you might just have to add it blindly. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.3.0 released
I installed today LMS 8.3.0. Installation went ok. I can start and stop the server without issues. Scanning is working ok. There are entries in Scanner.log But I cannot connect my SB Touch. No entries in the server.log !!! Squeezebox Touch and Mac mini M1 are connected to Netgear router via ethernet cables. Mac mini M1 is running Ventura. I do not have any idea how to proceed with this I tried the usual staff: restarting Touch; typing server LAN address; ... but I am getting always the same error site. Any idea ? As a MAC user I am very much interested what will be your answer to the MAC LMS starting issue. Is this still an issue? I don't have an answer, as I don't know the problem yet. There have been a few reports so far, but most of them were either well knwon "you must fix permissions", or something we haven't figured out yet. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

After those ten seconds, the message reverts to 'The server is stopped'.
