Hello ,
I am facing the following problem on iplanet ws 6.0.2 server
But the same problem is gone when I keep my classes in the classpath, all

files are not read from web-inf\lib folder.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

 You are right even I knew that it was the same problem. But then in that
 case if I make redirect = false and if the user refreshes the page then
the
 request is again submitted.
 So, can you throw some light on how to stop the user from re submitting
the
 same URL.

 not sure but the logic says that error messages are being stored in the
 REQUEST SCOPE and when you set redirect=true, naturally that's a new
 request
 so you won't get the errors set in earlier request.

You will need to upgrade to 6.1. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my
time trying anything less.

If your customer/boss says they can't or won't, tell them that they will
spend more time trying to make it work then they ever would have if
they had just upgraded...trust me!

Re: processPreprocess hook

2003-03-03 Thread Alok Garg
Hello David,
If I am not wrong I have read it on the site that Struts 1.1 is now migrated
from MVC 1 to MVC 2 therefore there is a differentiation of Request and
Response objects.

 Struts has always been based on MVC Model 2. The RequestProcessor has
 nothing to do with that.

 Hello Garuav,
 I think you will have to make minor chnages to your code as now Struts
1.1
 is based on MVC model 2 they have moved this method to RequestProcessor
 class in org.apache.struts.action

 protected boolean processPreprocess(HttpServletRequest
httpServletRequest,
 HttpServletResponse httpServletResponse)

 Subject: processPreprocess hook

   Hi,
   We have been overriding the processPreprocess method in
   ActionServlet of Struts 1.0 in an extended class to do some custom
   processing like session expiry handling etc. I noticed that this
method
 is
   not present in the ActionServlet of Struts 1.1. So now I guess we
can't
   migrate from Struts 1.0 to Struts 1.1. unless we make some changes in
 our
   extended class. Am i right or am I missing something here?

   Thanks,
   Gaurav

Re: processPreprocess hook

2003-03-02 Thread Alok Garg
Hello Garuav,
I think you will have to make minor chnages to your code as now Struts 1.1
is based on MVC model 2 they have moved this method to RequestProcessor
class in org.apache.struts.action

protected boolean processPreprocess(HttpServletRequest httpServletRequest,
HttpServletResponse httpServletResponse)

Re: j_security_check with LogonAction

2003-01-31 Thread Alok Garg
Hello,
What I have done is like:
1) I forward the user to ActionClass after the LoginPage (not the default
one but to the coustom one).
2) In this action class I set all the parameters that I require.
3) After this I forward the user to the j_security_check part.

Subject: j_security_check with LogonAction

 Hi,

 I am trying to use j_security_check Servlet to authenticate users
 from a login.jsp. However, if I do this, I will not be able to take
 advantage of LogonAction class where I need to set certain session
 and request attributes. If I submit the logon form to LogonAction, I
 can forward the request from LogonAction to j_security_check but the
 request object will stay there and I can not forward again using
 mapping.findForward(success) to a different page since the response
 is already commited at that point.

 Is there a way to work around this?

 Marwan

 Have you tried the upload example that is included in every Struts
 distribution (webapps/struts-upload.war :-)? The source code is included
 so that you can see exactly what's going on.

 Are you sure that with frames, you don't have 2 sessions running?

 Usually you have a single page that initiates the session, then forwards
to
 the frames pages.

Hello Jacob,
Thanx for the reply.
I will explain you the whole app. flow

1) The user selects an option on a page from where the request is forwarded
to a action class.
2) In the action class a hashtable of Categories is loaded and is forwarded
to the a Frameset that contains 2 frames one which shows 2 select box and
the 2 frame displays the result on selecting a item in the second select
box.
3) Now the user is asked to select a category on selecting a category a the
request is forwarded via a javascript to a categoryAction class.

4) In CategoryAction class all the assortments for the selected Category are
loaded and the request is forwarded to a the same main frame which contains
the 2 frames.

5) On selection of the assortment the request is forwarded to
AssortmentAction via javascript where all the sub Assortments are selected
and the result have to be displayed in the second frame.

Please Guide me with it.

the javascript code::

unction ChangeCategory()
{
 document.categoriesForm.submit();

}
function ChangeAssortment()
{
assortmentForm.target=main;
document.assortmentForm.submit();

}

 I remember the issue coming up before where if two requests were made at
the
 same time to the server, you would somehow end up with two sessions. The
 recommendation of that thread, if I remember correctly, was to have a
login
 page or an action that initializes a session, then forwards to the frames
 page once that single session is set.

 Just kidding, sort of.
