[SunRay-Users] Smartcard cycles continuously for "regular" sessions
Hi all,
I've got an interesting problem occurring on our systems. This is probably a
winbind question, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to run it by the Sun Ray user
list first to see if any of you have encountered this.
We have Solaris 10 on X86 machines that we have joined with our 2008 Active
Directory domain. All authentication through ssh and sun ray logins work great.
All of our units sit in a kiosk mode to terminal servers and a handful of users
(about 75) get Payflex smart cards so they can access a Unix Desktop.
Occasionally, a card will be inserted and it will continuously cycle the DTU.
The logs below repeat every 5 seconds, or so:

*Note: This only occurs if the user is hotdesking. If the session is new, this
doesn't occur.
I've found three ways of fixing this:
1. Kill the user's session (not ideal)
2. From any user's terminal, run "getent passwd "
3. ssh from anywhere (windows or unix) to the sunray server as the user in
question. In this case I don't even have to have the user login...just the act
of starting an ssh session stops this process and their login screen appears.
I've set a cron job to execute every 15 minutes that runs "getent passwd" for
every card user in the system, but we still see some users with this problem. I
could run it every minute, but I'd like to find the cause of this.
Anybody have any experience with this? I'm fairly new to Solaris and this is my
first set of systems with a working winbind, so any guidance would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi Folks; I just wanted to give an update and conclude this thread. 1. I am more than delighted to say that Sun proactively got in touch with me, and thank the SDAC team in particular for this and taking the time to email. Their level of service, commitment, professionalism, and speed to resolution was amazing. Thank you SDAC team, and Sun. 2. I am pleased to report that the SDAC client is now working as amazingly as hoped. The issues have been resolved. 3. An area of code that the Sun DTU's have with regard to udp packet sequencing was found that the SDAC did not. Changes were made to the SDAC client to better handle out of order udp packet delivery. These changes were instantly beneficial to our system. 4. I'll let the Sun and SDAC team fill in any additional pieces they wish ...I'm told the enhanced code will be available through regular sun Support until the next SDAC public release, however I don't work for Sun and certainly cannot make commitments on their behalf. Again, in summary: Sun did an amazing job (thank you), a bug in SDAC was fixed, and the SDAC client is working amazing for us now. Sound in flash can be solved with the patches from:

For some reason Gnome with SRSS defaults to volume = 0 and turning up the
volume gets sound.
The applications compete for the sound support, so if you run an audioapp
you might need to close it and restart firefox for firefox to get the
sound.
Everytime you update the kernel you need to recompile the utaudio, utadem,
utdisk modules...
Not everything works. It often boils down to whether the app respect the
AUDIODEV setting.
Also, SRSS sound emulates OSS not alsa. So set your app to OSS-sound or
some kind of OSS-emulation.
I had to configure pulse audio to get it work with the utaudio device
so I add the small script listed below
the script is in /etc/opt/SUNWut/xinitrc.d/0101.SUNWutaudio with a symbolic
link to it in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/
